All time, the Tampa Bay Rays fall at about the top of the bottom third of Major League Baseball in terms of both regular season and postseason records. This team was originally known as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for the first 10 years of its existence (1998-2007). After joining MLB in 1998, both the American League Rays and the National League Arizona Diamondbacks remain MLB's two newest teams in 2022. It's been 24 years since the league last expanded. I think the South needs at least one more MLB team other than the Braves, but I digress. It's easy to compare the 1998 expansion teams. The Rays won the AL pennant in 2008 and 2020, but lost in the World Series both times. The Diamondbacks won the NL pennant in 2001 and went on to win the World Series in only their fourth year. The two teams have been roughly comparable - below average - in cumulative win-loss records, regular season and postseason. Coincidentally, ever since the Rays rebranded from the old Devil Rays in 2008, they've had more success. The Rays have qualified for the postseason seven out of the last 14 years (2008-2021). Before 2008, they never qualified for the postseason. The Rays' recent success is due to strong management and talented rosters. Former Rays manager Joe Maddon was AL Manager of the Year in 2008 and 2011. Maddon currently manages the Los Angeles Angels. Current Rays manager Kevin Cash was AL Manager of the Year in 2020 and 2021. Cash is the only manager to win AL Manager of the Year in back-to-back seasons. Both Maddon and Cash led the Rays to the team's only World Series appearances. Also as the "Rays" (2008-present), the team has had four AL Rookies of the Year (Evan Longoria, Jeremy Hellickson, Wil Myers, Randy Arozarena) and two AL Cy Young Award winners (David Price, Blake Snell). The Rays are currently in the midst of the team's most successful stretch yet: three consecutive ALDS appearances including the pandemic 2020 World Series played in front of crowds of only about 11,400 per game at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Despite the 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Rays were part of a historic World Series due to the unique circumstances the pandemic caused. For example, the 2020 World Series was the only World Series to be played at a neutral site. As an Atlanta Braves fan and a fan of underdogs, I was rooting for the Rays to beat the Dodgers. The Dodgers were fresh off breaking Braves fans' hearts in the 2020 NLCS. The Dodgers came back to win that series after being down 3-1. We had three chances to get that fourth win and advance to the World Series for the first time since 1999, but couldn't get it done. 2021 was a better outcome, but I digress again. :) If the recent past is any indication, the future is bright in Tampa Bay for the Cash-era Rays. Good luck.

On vacation and came in for a TB Rays game. Stopped at the customer service desk for directions and they upgraded our families tickets to Randy Land! If you have kids Randy land is the place to be. Right behind left field, free tshirts, signs to hold, balls from Randy etc. our kids are now HUGE rays fans and Randy fans. Thank you for making their first game such a great experience!

Escape the humidity and avoid a hurricane (nearly 100-years free) while you take in some expansion ball from the team that's almost reached the pinnacle enough to keep people coming back--they're surely not doing it for the architecture. Easy parking factor: you'll walk a little, but you'll park on the cheap attending Rays games. $10 lots galore, or maybe $15, plus you can probably rideshare over if you're looking to avoid the stroll. Cheap ticket factor: yes my friends, who actually cares about Rays ball except the locals? I know I sure don't (said to the scalper to get some good deals). Throw in ticket aftermarket sites and you'll score some single-digit gems or certainly under $20. It's cozier with the 300 level closed. Get the royal field-level treatment for less than some parks too. Welcoming factor: Love and be loved at Tropicana. Catch a bunch of future Sox/Yanks before they're big-time, still making $200K/yr. Friendly fans who actually like the sport and the team since it's not always a championship year here. Food factor: leave your greenbacks at home since Tropicana is now cashless, but you'll be able to swipe that plastic for plenty of choices inside the park. Recovering from "worst food safety" award in 2017, enjoy edamame, protein bowls, coconut shrimp along with that Cuban sandwich or Pipo's Chicken. Move freely about the cabin factor: since people are mainly other places than here on gameday, you'll have plenty of chances to catch the action closer (or farther away) if you decide to roam after inning 6 like you should. Stretch those legs up near the nosebleed and you'll be high but not far from the action thanks to only 25K seats (sort of feels like a college basketball arena). Hang out near field level or look down on the bullpen for an alternate view. Little kid souvenir factor: still that minor-league expansion-team feel here, so plenty of chances to interact with players before they're worth $120mil. Definitely great for batting practice foul-ball and autograph-getting from the visiting team. It's laid-back West-Coast South-Florida charm at its finest. Add in some fan-friendly players, without the chip on their shoulder, dressed in powder blues, and "look kids it's baseball in Tampa!"

Such a fun place! Yes it is getting old but so much to do! Watching baseball is my favorite thing to do but if you don't want to sit through nine innings you don't have to. You can touch the string Rays, go to Ballpark and Red and play games! Kids can run the bases on Sundays. Of course get your picture taken with Raymond and DJ kitty! You can try to get autograph if you get there early. Who knows you may even catch a foul ball! Staff is extremely friendly! You can even get $10 tickets if you don't wait too long! Very fun evening out.

Mixed night at The Trop this time. MLB has directed teams league-wide to end ticket sales at the box office and go digital. We spent 25 minutes downloading apps and creating accounts on two websites to access our tickets that we just bought. We missed the first inning. It's a league rule but it's affecting the experience for the local teams. Once inside, the game was enjoyable, the views are great, the presentation is really well done!

Yes, I'm a Tampa Bay Rays fan that resides in Connecticut! It's not easy being sandwiched in my area by the Yankees, Red Sox, and Mets. My rough estimate between all the previous mentioned fan base and Rays fans in Connecticut, we make-up about 0.01 percent Rays. Yes, we try to get down the Tampa/Saint Petersburg area as often as possible, but when travel is not possible, MLBtv at home is our fix. Since 2005, I've enjoyed their ever changing roster, sometimes sadden, too. But if live attendance were to increase, the team would have more ability to stabilize. Until then then it's all about finding raw talent and developing that into a hardened player. Speaking of hardened players, Johnnie Gomes was one of my favorite with his rough, scrappy talent, especially coming to James Shields defense at the mound. Other personal favorites, to mention only a few: Carlos Pena (Senior Team Icon, Slugger, and First Base), Ben Zobrist (Versatile and Steady), Evan Longoria (Batting and Defense), and some of the more recent, that Kiermaier (All round Spirit, Defense, and Offense), Ji-Man (Spirit, his amazing Flexibility at 1st Base, and Dugout Antics), Snell (what an Arm), and keep any eye on the Yarborough machine. As mentioned with Gomes, Scrappy and with others Spirit, not possible without their management (previously Maddon) and now the hard working "Dr" Cash! If you're local in the Tampa and St Pete regions there's no reason not to support your team in good time and hard times. Get out there and see a live game - the guys appreciate every fan!

Attending the Rays versus Detroit Tigers game today. Parking was so simple as there were signs guiding us the whole way from interstate to parking lot. Parking prices are reasonable especially if parking outside main lots. Some small lots were $6 for parking. Entering the facility was even more simple as there was ample amount of security and a no bag security line which I took advantage of. We were in the building within a blink of an eye. Inside of the building is extremely clean for a huge venue like itself. The bathrooms were clean and well-maintained throughout the entire game. As a lady, thank you for that gigantic grateful detail. There are a lot of food and drinks. Hamburgers, hotdogs, spam (yes I said spam), soft served ice cream, dipping dots, fried everything, and so much more. So many different breweries had little setups throughout the building. This is a great place to have a date. Hubby and I are planning to come back without the kids next time. The suite was well-stocked with food and drinks. The bathrooms were right outside of the suite doors. Major plus with kids. No lines. Yes lady the suites have no lines for the bathrooms. There is a god. The staff was incredible. Always smiling and asking if we need anything. What a great family experience.

We were at St Pete on the Shine Mural Event. This is the one mural we did not see because it is hidden. When you think you are at the destination from the map they given to us, it actually below us. This tunnel is cross under the 1st Avenue South to connect the Tropicana Field and Ferg Sport Bar & Grill. It is cool to walk there when the sun is set with black blue light of the tunnel is on. The artist did some job to the wall make it nicer. The shine mural can be found in around the city of St Pete- http://shineonstpete.com/. The pathway to the tunnel access is next to the Ferg.

$48.25 seats in section 206. No wonder stadium is often sparsely populated. I was fortunate to get the tickets at no charge from friends.

Last nights 6:10 game vs. Red Sox was a total debacle due to parking mayhem. Strong storm kept ALL STAFF inside, thus no one was in the parking lots to direct traffic OR to close lots which were full when we arrived at 5:15, having anticipated large crowd due to popularity of Red Sox. I had a parking pass for LOT 6 which was totally full as were others so we were mired in the mess for 45 minutes before finally finding a handicapped spot OFF PREMISES (we have a handicapped pass and all were taken at designated area). Long DELAY getting into stadium so literally thousands of us were totally drenched, adding insult to injury. Concession prices are ASTRONOMICALLY HIGH. Bobble head giveaways were long gone we were told but we saw dozens of cases. It's no wonder we so rarely attend. Over-priced. Under-staffed. If they move to Tampa, I'll N-E-V-E-R bother to attend.

If you enter through the Outfielder Bar & Grill area or the rotunda, you're close... just go up one level. You can either go up via a set of stairs, or up the escalator, across the walkway, and through the team store (one entrance is in the back corner of the team store). The Ted Williams Hitters' Hall of Fame is open from the time gates open until the bottom of the sixth inning. It's not a large area to see and explore, but there are some really nice display areas that range from a Roberto Clemente Tribute, to highlighting baseball movies or Mickey Mantle & Roger Maris. There are displays for notable players, of course (Cal Ripken Jr., Don Mattingly, etc), as well as a Don Zimmer tribute, and the Gold Glove trophies of Carlos Peña, Kevin Kiermaier, and Evan Longoria. Think of it as a little, mini Cooperstown. ;) TL;DR Don't miss the Ted Williams Hitters' Hall of Fame if you're a baseball fan! A nice amount of memorabilia displayed. It's easy to miss, but I'm thankful I visited Tropicana with folks "in the know" that pointed me in the right direction.
