Came here to lunch with my Dad at noon when they opened. After a few disappointing meals around the area, we were not expecting much. Caveat, if you are looking for exotic sushi with exotic fishes, this is not the place for you. However, if you love basic sushi and sashimi (tuna, salmon, and yellowtail), you should consider this place. The fishes were all fresh and tasty. The Salmon especially; coming from Salmon country in the U.S. (PNW), that is saying a lot.
Food, price and service:
Food-although the choice of fish is limited, they were all good and tasty. We ordered their sashimi platter along with an Unagi Maki and Ikura Nigiri sushi. This restaurant would have gotten 5 stars but for only 1 reason why they received 4 stars, MUSHY Sushi Rice!!!! It could have been that they just opened for the day but that will not suffice as an excuse. Otherwise, the sashimi platter was excellent. All three types of fishes were served and they were equally delicious, especially the Salmon (rich and buttery). We also ordered the Sea-bass sashimi afterwards but they asked if they can substitute yellowtail instead because the Sea-bass was not available. The dish was thinly sliced yellowtail arrange to look like a Chrysanthemum flower with a side dipping sauce. Delicious! As a bonus, the sushi chef made us a California roll on the house. Very nice of him. 4 Stars.
Pricing-typical for the area but higher than the comparable place in the U.S.. 4 Stars.
Service-Our waitress was nice and attentive and the foods were served in a timely matter. She spoke 4 languages (Japanese, English, French, and a little Chinese) and she was very helpful with the menu. 5 Stars.
Overall- This was one of the better meals that I have had in Paris. With the exception of the mushy sushi rice, I would highly recommend that you try this place if near by. Always good to see a Japanese sushi chef behind the counter. The atmosphere and decor are reminiscent of a mom and pop sushi place. Cheers! read more
