A wedding officiant is something you don't actively seek out until you need one. And when it came time to plan our wedding, I had no idea where to start. We found Rev. Tan at the recommendation of our wedding coordinator, With Grace and Love, and I'm so grateful for the connection! Rev.Tan service's were pretty straightforward and given our wedding plans changing significantly due to COVID we still needed someone to officiate for our party of 11. The idea of crafting a wedding ceremony seems a bit daunting but they share a great program that helps the couple craft the perfect ceremony unique to them. I found the program to be easy to use and so helpful in mapping out the narrative. I felt super confident going into our ceremony having reviewed the script beforehand. There were no surprises. Rev. Tan was readily available in the lead up to the day with some tips on the order of the readings and even gave us some pointers on crafting our personal vows. I especially appreciate him respecting our request to wear a face mask during our event. It's little details that really resonated with me given the times. He took care of our marriage license, sent us an image of the signed doc, and mailed it off to the county. Overall, I was so pleased with the ease of his service. She made sure to keep us on track with gentle encouragement which we needed to make sure we didn't slack off and forget anything. Rick's was our officiant but he was also involved in the planning aspect. He is skilled at putting things into perspective and helped us sift through different options and scenarios. He did the seating chart and signs for our wedding. All came out beautiful. He was also my officiant and took the time to personalize the service by using quotes from my favorite author. Rick is a gifted and charismatic orator, even my guests said so! His calming presence helped me through the ceremony cuz I was so nervous and emotional. On the days leading up to the wedding day, COVID19 was starting to close down on events and cities. I was grateful that TWE handled all of the issues for me - they checked in with our vendors to make sure that all would take precautions. Our guestlist was dwindling and TWE also worked with our vendors to make last-minute adjustments. All in all.. our wedding went off without a hitch and we could not have done it without them. LONG overdue! I thought I've written one for this amazing vendor already. We were extremely lucky to have Rev. Rick as our officiant for our events. Like many others, our 2020 wedding was postponed to 2021. Rev. Rick ended up officiating our 2020 virtual elopement and 2021 in-person wedding. And we wouldn't have had it any other way. Rev. Rick is so kind and warm and has such a way with words. The process to create our script was so smooth and stress-free. He made sure our ceremonies perfectly reflected our love (he succeeded!). On our in-person wedding day, he made time to come say hello to us in addition to doing a walkthrough on his own re: ceremony rituals we were doing (cord, veil, candles). When I first contacted the Tan Family, Jennifer sent me an email giving me information about her wedding officiating and harp services, and then set up a phone chat. Over the phone, she was professional and friendly. We hired the TWE team for day of coordination and officiating services. From the moment we contacted them, they were professional, informational, and responsive. We booked Rev. Rick Tan for our wedding in Sonoma. We submitted an inquiry and got a response right away. Both he and his wife Jennifer (also a reverend!) hopped on a Skype chat with us so that we could get to know each other since my husband and I weren't sure which person to book. They were both incredibly nice and professional. We ultimately chose Rick because he played the harp. We weren't completely sure if we wanted to use their music services (Jennifer plays the flute and Rick plays the harp) but we wanted to keep our options open. About a month and a half before the wedding, we decided to proceed with the harp and Rev. Tan was completely flexible. He threw in the service and updated our invoice. The best part: they have templates available that fit a variety of needs (religious, spiritual, non-religious). We chose one that was non-religious and more about being grateful for everything. We were able to remove a section we didn't quite like, and we decided to also throw in our own vows. Rev. Tan adjusted as needed, placing our vows at the right time. Our guests absolutely loved him. They said he did such a great job officiating, that they loved the words and vows, and that the harp was such a beautiful touch. For the harp we chose "Can't help falling in love" for the bridal party entrance, "just the way you are" for the bride's entrance, and "here comes the sun" for our exit. We also asked Rev. Tan to announce that our ceremony would be unplugged (no phones or cameras out) and he did so in such a respectful manner. Reverend Tan is the best in the Sacramento area! We hired Reverend Tan to officiate our wedding and it was one of the best decision we made. We met with a couple of officiants prior to the Tans and the minute you meet them even over Skype, you feel so at ease. Rick Tan and his wife, Jennifer Tan is so down to earth and personable. They really took the time to get to know us and get an idea of what we wanted in an officiant. They both did a reading for us and we were so happy with their delivery. They were very responsive and always provided support if we ever needed it during our planning. After we paid our deposit, a file full of templates was sent to us. They are very simple templates so we ended creating our own officiant speech. I would recommend people doing this if they want a unique speech tailored to their ceremony. After we sent that in, he also offered to look over our vows to make sure that they flow well together. I really loved that he offered to do that. We wanted our bridal party to hear our vows for the first time at the ceremony too and wouldn't be able to get a second look if he had not offered that. He was able to look at my husband's vows but unfortunately, i wrote my vows the morning of and was unable to send it to him for feedback. His delivery was really awesome at our wedding. Very well spoken. We also signed our marriage license prior to the start of the wedding and Reverend Tan filed it for us. From the groom: We chose to work with Reverend Rick Tan for our wedding ceremony in Woodland, CA, on May 3, 2014. Reverend Tan was very communicative and flexible. We were able to take a wedding template provided by Rev. Tan and shorten and customize it to our liking. Rev. Tan was always easy to get in touch with, even from 1500 miles away when we were finalizing our wedding plans while living in Texas. On the day of the ceremony Rev. Tan was punctual, performed the ceremony flawlessly and was a natural in his role. Rev. Tan handled all of the paperwork business for the wedding license and took that stress off of our shoulders, even providing some advice on things we needed to do to complete my brides name change. Rev. Rick Tan comes with my highest recommendation. From the bride: All that I can add about Rev. Tan is that you will not find a more attentive officiant. I am not exaggerating: since most of our communication was via email, quick responses were important. Rev Tan ALWAYS responded within 24 hours, and most often much sooner.
