Sheri is absolutely amazing. She was the first (and only) person we met with when looking for a wedding day photographer; we instantly felt comfortable with her personality and style during our first meeting and decided to book her for our wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum. We ended up booking an engagement shoot as well (so happy we did!), in order to practice for the day of. I am usually not a fan of being in front of the camera, but she is calm and makes you feel comfortable while she is doing her magic. We had our engagement shoot at Sumner Canyon near UCSD, and she was a trooper hiking up and through the canyon after having done a wedding earlier in the day. Our engagement shoot felt like we were just hiking and taking in the scenery, which was perfect since we love to do this as a couple; we had a blast with Sheri finding spots to stop along the trail. This very natural approach definitely came through in our pictures, which are absolutely gorgeous. We cannot thank her enough for the beautiful photos; the style, textures, and detail in each shot still blows me away - she is incredibly talented. In addition, Sheri was also very flexible in changing our engagement shoot day, which was greatly appreciated. On our wedding day earlier this month, Sheri and her second shooter, Jill, made us feel comfortable before and during the wedding. Both were extremely professional and fun to work with; my husband enjoyed having Jill take his "getting ready" shots, while Sheri was an absolute joy to have while I was getting ready with family and friends. One of my favorite moments from our wedding was going down to the beach/pier with Sheri for our husband/wife portraits; it was fun playing near the water for a second and to have some time to ourselves. I can't believe I haven't written a review for Tangerine Tree Photography. This is long overdue. I have worked with them twice in the past 2 years. I first encountered Tangerine Tree through Yelp. I found their website and instantly fell in love with their style. I was looking for a photographer to take pictures for a birthday celebration at Joshua Tree. Sheri and Erik seemed perfect for the event. They are both so professional, easy to communicate with, and not to mention FUN! They took amazing shots of our friends and us at the event. These photographers are all of the above, but more than that, they are TALENTED. I mean, really. I can't even describe how beautiful our pictures turned out. Recently, I booked a boudoir photoshoot with Sheri. I could not even begin to tell you how comfortable it was to be around Sheri. I don't think I could have posed that way if it weren't for her. it's embarrassing it took me this long to write a review (sorry Sheri and Erik!) but I recently was asked if i had any recommendations for a wedding photographer and was immediately reminded of a) how amazing Tangerine Tree Photography was for our wedding and b) how i never wrote this review ... better later than never ... From start to finish, Sheri and Erik were an absolute dream to work with. Beyond the amazing photos and professionalism, one of the most important things about working with them is how natural it felt. They are so easy going and felt immediately comfortable for our engagement photos and for our wedding photos. Sheri and Erik were incredibly prompt, organized, and dedicated. OUTSTANDING!! Sheri and Erik are seriously amazing. I met Sheri and Erik through a great friend. I was referred to Tangerine Tree through a coworker for my maternity photo shoot. Sheri was super responsive and easy to work with. We were able to set something up very quickly and she had great suggestions for location options (as I had no clue where to start). Due to bad weather we had to reschedule and she was so accommodating! What should have been a stressful situation turned into just a simple change of plans. The day of we were in constant contact before meeting up. She provided great direction and offered a slew of scenic options. She even somehow got our dog to cooperate enough to be in the shots. I was so pleased with my experience with Sheri and Erik that I signed up for Yelp just to write a review for Tangerine Tree Photography! I hired them for a portrait session for my parents who were out here to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and couldn't be more pleased! It's obvious from their website that Sheri does wonderful wedding photography (Oh how I wish I knew about her when I got married 2 years ago!!), but let me tell you, her work with portrait sessions is just as amazing. I let her know prior to the session that my mom is usually self conscious in front of the camera and is usually not fond of how her pictures turn out. Well, the day of the session Sheri was just so sweet and complimentary to my folks, making them instantly feel at ease in front of the camera! It practically brought a tear to my eye to see them so happy, cute and nearly giddy as she magically coaxed them into bringing out their true inner, and outer, beauty!!! When mom looked at the beautiful photos for the first time she said she loved them and never felt so pretty! Out of the hundred that they took, mom only disliked like one of them which made my jaw drop to the ground! A true feat which speaks volumes as to Sheri and Erik's talent! But the ultimate challenge came when we asked them to do an outdoor shoot with our dogs... which (much like children) are highly unpredictable and so tough to capture! My husband and I hired Sheri and Eric to shoot our wedding on March 26th 2010. They were highly recommended by a close friend of mine. We meet with Sheri and Eric about 8 months before the wedding and took a look at their amazing portfolio, blog, and website. That was all I needed to see. I didn't even BOTHER trying to contact another photographer. I was completely sold after our initial meeting with the two of them. They are a beautiful talented couple, with great energy and creative sprits. Sheri and Eric wanted us to take part in a complementary engagement session about a month before the wedding and to be honest Ryan and I weren't too keen on the idea. We had been engaged for over a year and the whole idea seemed a little silly to us. I was sooooo glad that Sheri finally convinced us to do it. During our engagement session they captured some of the most truly beautiful and unique pictures of us as an engaged couple. The pictures will be cherished forever. We got dozens of calls from family asking how they could get their hands on some of the pictures. I think the most important part of the engagement session was that Ryan and I were able to get very comfortable with both Sheri and Eric and posing in front of a camera together. This made a world of a difference by the time the wedding rolled around. We sort of all felt like old friends, at least I know I did. During our "first look" Ryan and I felt so comfortable being romantic and natural in front of the camera. The best thing about Tangerine Tree Photography is that they tell a story through photos. We hired Sheri for our son's 1st birthday photos as well as our Christmas pictures. Sheri did not disappoint. She was very responsive, provided us plenty of suggestions for wardrobe, she was on time and professional. When we first met her, she greeted us with a warm and genuine smile-immediately putting us at ease. We are not the most comfortable in front of the camera and she did an excellent job of instructing us and went above and beyond to get our boy (who can be kind of serious and shy especially around strangers) to smile some of the biggest smiles I've ever seen. She also does a great job at balancing the ratio of portrait to candid shots. She got the pictures to us in a timely manner and we were very happy with them both times. It can be so nerve-wracking getting family pictures taken and now that we have used Sheri, I don't think we will ever use another photographer.
