We were referred to Paco and Betty by another photographer. We only needed a couple hours up at the Oakland LDS temple. For never shooting a couple coming out of the temple, I was quite impressed with their artistic ability to get some truly lovely shots of my husband and I as well as our family and friends on the temple grounds. The photos they captured of us are ones I have never seen other photographers get of on the Oakland temple ground. They were super fun, easy to get to know (I'd never met them until the day off our wedding), made us feel very comfortable and were able to get my Mr. to have a natural smile (he's usually being a goof and makes silly faces) and get him to look super handsome in our photos! I take pride in our photos that we have printed thus far! I would refer anyone I knew to them as well as use them again. read more

I was telling Whitney, the Betty part of the duo, how inspired I am every time they update their blog, how I seriously cry because I am awed by the beauty of their art and how a mere few photographers in this world currently overrun with amateur photographers (*ahem* ...myself included...) can tug at my sensitivities the way their art does and she suggested I book my own session with them. I guffawed. Literally. Out loud. And said, as I rolled my eyes incredulously, "Why would I want photos of myself?!?! I'm almost FORTY years old!!!" Whitney was so quick and so gentle with her comeback. Something to the effect of: "You're only going to be 40 years old ONCE! That's why." I'm totally doing it. And now it's your turn. Seriously. Look at their blog. Shed tears because of their photo-journalistic brilliance. Then pick up the phone, the mouse, the pen & paper, the 2 cups with string in between...whichever style of communication you prefer...and book a session. First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in a baby carriage - and for all of the above we worked with Paco and Betty. From beautiful wedding photos (before they officially started their business) to a fun and fantastic maternity shoot to the cutest, most adorable family shoot with our 2-months old. Whitney (Betty) worked wonders with our baby girl: she was very careful in positioning her and very sensitive of her needs (ie. a break or food). The photos are absolutely stunning and we appreciated how she worked around our and especially baby's schedule. Same for the maternity shoot. Feeling all big and swollen, I wasn't sure if I felt 'pretty' enough to invest in a professional photo shoot. But it was so worth it! Paco and Betty (aka Whitney and Marcellos) shot our wedding this past March and we cannot say enough good things about them. They were/are AMAZING. We just got all of our retouched/edited/processed photos back (way waaay faster than we thought they would come back and way faster than they were required to return them under contract) and we are so happy. First things first --- our photos absolutely gorgeous and we look great in them (not to be modest or anything). This is a huge feat since I hate having my photo taken and I am notorious for making terrible faces/being unphotogenic. Despite this, they were able to extract amazing shots of us and make sure we had fun throughout the process. They worked with a huge range of light conditions (we took photos before the ceremony in daylight but our actual wedding was in a dark indoor space with no natural light) and scouted really great places to take our couple shots. We were getting married near Union Square in San Francisco and were skeptical of what photos around that area would look like --- but Whitney and Marcellos somehow found amazing alleyways and nooks so we have photos that capture San Francisco --- without having random strangers in the background. Not only are our photos beautiful, but they are also wonderful from a documentary standpoint. Maybe it's because Whitney and Marcellos shoot together --- somehow they were able to capture the whole day/evening so that looking back at our photos is almost like seeing a video of our wedding. They didn't miss a single moment. You'd think this would always be the case with professional photographers but I have so many friends who've had great photographers that somehow just don't take enough photos of all the critical events (like all the little spontaneous moments that pop up during a wedding ceremony). Value-wise, Paco and Betty are an insane steal. Frankly, I was a wedding-photographer-non-believer before now. I was pissed at the idea of shelling out what seemed like a lot of money for photos and I definitely viewed the whole thing as another shake-down by the wedding-industrial complex. But once we met Marcellos (Paco) and Whitney (Betty) (we interviewed a few different photographers), we were confident that they'd be a great addition to our wedding day and that if anyone was going to be extract some good shots from us, they would be able to (they are so funny, nice, and an altogether great couple). Even then, knowing how terrible I usually look in photos, my goal was to get maybe a handful of nice photos. But they basically sent us 800 amazing photos that are making it difficult for us to figure out which ones to print. They were less expensive than the photographers my friends have used, but my photos turned out better. Go figure. Paco and Betty are worth every penny and then some. We highly, highly recommend them and hope we have an excuse to use them in the future (hopefully not for a second marriage though). read more

She was the absolute sweetest, squeezed us in with a days notice and took fantastic, exciting, not your boring typical engagement photos. Whitney photographed our small 15 person wedding and she was absolutely fantastic! We wanted mostly candid pictures and she really captured the spontaneous nature and joy of the day. Whitney and Marcellos (the Betty and the Paco) are amazing photographers. Truly amazing. My husband and I asked them to shoot our wedding this past March. Our engagement shoot was a blast and the photos are phenomenal! We were thrilled they accompanied us to Mexico for our wedding and are so thankful they were there.
