I'm absolutely shocked by my experience at this clinic today. I'm in Fernie on vacation, and my dog suddenly developed an issue with her eye that clearly needed urgent attention. I arrived at 7:55 AM (their posted opening time is 8:00 AM), but had to call at 8:05 just to be let in.
The vet took one look at my dog's eye, acknowledged it looked bad, and then told me they were understaffed and dealing with three emergencies. I do believe that may have been the case. However, I was told I would need to call other clinics myself--no help was offered. I ended up sitting in my car for over 30 minutes making calls, and during that time, the clinic and parking lot remained completely empty. In my opinion, that time would have been more than enough to at least examine my dog.
They didn't offer to see her later or provide any alternatives--just a flat-out refusal to provide care. When I left, I told the vet this was the first time in my life that a veterinarian has refused to help a visibly sick dog--and sadly, I meant it. Her apology felt hollow as I left shaken, with my poor dog still needing attention.
Thankfully, I found a clinic in a nearby town willing to see her. I would never return to or recommend this clinic. I'm deeply disappointed and still stunned by the lack of compassion and effort. read more
