I can't say enough about the work that the folks from TankWorks do. We just had our oil tanks replaced by them and the whole experience was exceptional! When the quote was developed, the work was clearly explained; they even went so far as to see if the new tanks that we wanted to get would fit through the hallway/doorways by bringing the size tank that we wanted and doing a "test run". When the work was completed , the TankWorks team was on time, completed their work in a thorough manner, left the work area clean and even noticed on their way out that a marble threshold had been accidentally broken (which they noted will be fixed). Many years ago, the oil tank in my parents' house leaked a significant amount of oil before the leak was discovered. Even after repairs were made, they never got that oil smell out of their house. If you are at all on the fence relative to having the tanks in your house replaced, my advice would be to do it and hire the folks from TankWorks! Update: Tank Removed. The removal went just as well as the install, maybe even better. They moved and reset part of a 75 year old flagstone walkway to ensure the stones weren't damaged. They barely touched the bushes that were planted long ago around the tank area, and then covered the whole area with new topsoil and grass seed, actually leaving it looking better than when they started. To top it off, the owner called with my soil sample results almost immediately. Tankworks took over a potential nightmare for me, at the worst time of year, offered a competitive price and made the whole process surprisingly easy. Worried about the hassle of removing an inground tank? Don't be. If you are in the position of selling an old home and dreading the process, don't. I had a basement oil tank that was becoming very sludgy and starting to rust on the bottom. I knew the dreaded day had come - it was time to replace my approximately 35 year old tank. The nerve wracking part of it was that my basement does not have a Bilco door, and I couldn't imagine how on earth anyone could replace this tank without making a huge mess or potentially causing damage to my narrow hall/back door area. As soon as I called Tankworks, I knew I made the right decision. They were friendly, answered all my questions, and reassured me that they could get the job done. They sent someone out to measure everything prior. I had originally booked the replacement for the week before Christmas and had to change it to February because of how busy things were right before the holiday. No problem to reschedule. They came right on time today, and I honestly can't say enough good things about the two gentlemen who did the job. They left my basement clean as a whistle after cutting the old tank and bringing it out the back door. The oil from my old tank was pumped out and filtered so that it could be used in the new tank. Smell was minimal and dissipated quickly. They had put down a drop cloth to protect my hall carpet which I really appreciated. They answered my questions and did a thorough and professional job. I have to write a review of this company and their staff. From the moment I called, I felt like I was in the right place and as a result averted what could have been a major disaster to our home. If you need a company to replace or install an oil tank, this is the one. I've written a detailed review so you can get the full scope of how this company works with it's customers. Working from home one day in July, I happened to go into our laundry/furnace room to get something and on the way out noticed a small drip on the floor under the oil tank. The house is a raised ranch and this room is right off of our finished family room on the lower level. When I looked closer, I could see some of the oil sludge, starting to leak from a small hole on the bottom of the tank. The house was built in the mid 60's and this is the original tank. I didn't touch anything for fear of starting a larger leak, but went upstairs and started searching on line for a company that could help. I could have called our oil company but wanted someone that handles tank work as their primary business. Fortunately, I came across Tankworks at the top of my search. I called and spoke to Diane in the office and explained the issue and the need to fix it before the leak really started to come out of the tank. She took my information and said she would get it to the owner to call me back. Within 10 minutes Lily called me back. Lily said that she could get someone here in half an hour with an emergency storage tank, and could redirect a team that was finishing up in another town. They would pump the oil into the temporary tank and could then hook up a 25 gal. barrel with some of my oil back to the furnace to maintain our hot water supply. Then they could schedule the old tank removal and replacement. She laid out the costs clearly. When I compared that to the potential cost of an oil leak in the house and the resulting damage (oil tank leaks are not covered by homeowners insurance), I agreed to proceed. Everyone showed up just as Lily said and got right to work. The temp tank went in our garage for security, they pumped out the oil into it, setup the temp supply back to the furnace and even took the old tank out, all in about 4 hours. This was the week before the 4th of July, so I feared we may not have a new tank for a couple of weeks. I called the next day and Diane informed me they would be in my town on July 3rd for another job, so they would do our house in the afternoon. They applied for the required town permit. The new tank arrived in the driveway on Monday July 2nd and same guys showed back up on Tuesday, right at the promised time. In under two hours, the new tank was in, oil pumped back into it, connected back to the furnace, new vent and fill pipes installed back through existing openings and fully tested. They even painted some scrapes on the tank and the pipes to ensure no exposed metal at all. Throughout the entire process, not one drop of oil was spilled and the crew was immaculate and left a perfectly clean area. Lily called me back a couple of days later, to be sure everything was done as expected and that there were no issues. She is a true hands on owner and deeply cares about her customers and the outcome of their work. Hopefully I won't ever have to call them again, but this is a company you can trust to do the work, that most of us never think of having to do in a home. read more
