At the show I managed to get over 70% of my wedding needs sorted on the day as there was about 100 exhibitors instead of the normal 10 or 20. The catwalk shows were really good too:)) The bridal register that is free also helped out after the fayre as I get monthly emails with offers on, so decided to book my video and got 10% discount. Will definitely be recommending the March fayres to anyone that has decided to tie the knot - fab day out!

It seats about 100, and can be hired for all sorts of events: weddings, team-building, dinners. It's sometimes booked to host musical performances as well. See the website for pictures and more info about bookings. I attended a wedding reception here and it was well-suited for that: some semi-formalities took place, followed by a dinner and a dance. The Barn provided a fun, rustic location and staff guided all the necessary changes. (Side note: The wedding was for a friend who manages musical acts, including some '80s pop stars. Our musical entertainment included synth-pop hit-maker Howard Jones and Kajagoogoo bass player Nick Beggs! I can't promise they'll show up for your event.) It is remote, though, and if people are drinking some planning needs to take place to ensure taxis from Abergavenny are booked to show up at the end of the night.

The downsides were: Demanding a swipe of your credit card before signing in even though my company pays. This is a pet hate of mine. The food, although very pretty, was expensive and tiny in the restaurant if you need to walk anywhere, which I did, there are no footpaths outside the hotel leading to the nearest major road. I had to walk in the road or on the wet grass, neither very satisfactory will dragging a wheelie case. The remote for the telly didn't turn it on, just off. The wifi in the room was almost non existent. Other than that fine :-)

The staff a quite friendly and helpful. The hotel hosts quite a few parties and events at Christmas time.

Value: The most surprising part about this store. Usually, whenever I come across a small independent gift shop the prices are very dear. However, Doodlebug's merchandise is relatively reasonably priced and of great quality as well. Variety: There's loads of goodies you can get from Doodlebug. I bought cute scented erasers for my little cousins. Essentially, a visit here will probably leave you wishing you were rich to buy everything. From adorable money banks, hilarious cards, to adorable stationary. If you're all out of gift ideas this Christmas, there might be something at Doodlebug to inspire you. Customer Service: The downside. The staff here had anything BUT holiday cheer and weren't very welcoming. When I went to the counter with my purchases they were not friendly at all. Just told me the price and then turned around to talk to each other. I mean I know retail jobs suck, but at least PRETEND like you have some holiday cheer. --- Overall, I quite like Doodlebug for its reasonably priced and adorable merchandise. However, the staff really need to step up their game because they don't exactly make me want to come back.
