Unexpected Path I am…read morenot one to post testimonials online. This was my first time visiting Taos on vacation and my only plans were to get some skiing/snowboarding in. I have been having issues for the few years with neck and back pain, along with tension headaches. I attributed my issues to a combination of spending to much time at my computer, poor posture and high stress levels. I have tried everything from doctors, chiropractors, acupuncture, massage, inversion table and I even started taking yoga classes a couple of years ago at a local studio. All of these would help a little but, just not like I needed. I found Taos Yoga Therapy with Monique Parker online. What interested me was a class she offers called "Yoga Therapy for Back, Neck and Shoulders". This sounded exactly like what I needed. After attending several group classes as well as a couple of private lessons from Monique I feel compelled to share my experience. I was nervous for the first class. I wasn't sure what Svastha Yoga was and how it would differ to the yoga classes I had attended. Monique is an amazing teacher and from the minute I stepped into the studio I felt welcomed and comfortable. I would recommend showing up early because the classes filled up fast. I have never included chanting as part of a yoga class and wasn't sure if I would like it. I found it surprisingly peaceful and now I can't imagine practicing yoga without it. The poses we did in the class are simpler but more effective then what I have practiced in the past. My prior experience with Yoga had never completely made sense to me. Some of the poses and the movements felt good but, I couldn't get my thoughts focused. I obsessed over whether I was doing the poses correctly or thought about what was going on that day. Monique's teaching of Svastha yoga helped me get to a place where I could finally quiet my mind. Everyone has different needs. I would highly recommend private sessions for anyone from a beginner like myself to someone who has practiced yoga for years. I believe Monique can help improve your practice. In my private sessions, we began with working on my breathing. I did not realize I had been doing it incorrectly. After one session I immediately felt the difference. The corrections to my breathing gave me sensation similar to a caffeine rush, but better. Monique also put together a simple asana and mantra practice for me to do everyday. The poses she gave me to were tailored for my specific needs and the amount of time I was willing to commit to practicing daily. This has been life changing!!! I start everyday with my practice. It' clears my mind and I feel ready for anything. In just the first 3 weeks, my neck and back pain went away. Nothing else I have ever done has worked for more then a couple days. More then anything the practice has helped me to control my stress. My blood pressure has gone down to the point I may no longer need medication. My mind is clearer and I feel more productive. I don't want to make this sound like it's some kind of magic pill. It's not. You must have an open mind and be willing to make changes. You must also put time and effort into your practice. If you are ready to make these changes, I can't imagine a better place to start then visiting Taos Yoga Therapy. What you gain might truly be priceless.

I was pointed to the back of the store and told to look through the boxes to find the correct size.I called a friend for help and tried on one pair of shoes. Come to find out there are numerous shoes in incorrect boxes. I asked if they carried a long shirt and was told they only carried crop tops. When my friend asked about ladies sweats there was only pointing to a corner of the store.I asked a man if he was a manager an he would only identify himself as" one of them". I was concerned about being sure that I was in fact buying the correct size of shoesandwasstold to ASSUME ITS CORRECT I was visibly upset when leaving and the unhelpful female associate heckled me. Since the employees were just standing around pointing maybe someone could organize the shoes. if you go into this store expect not to be helped. They have the customers doing their jobs, which they clearly don't care about . Lots of people are looking for employmen.tA little customer service goes a long way. Sorting shoes and helping find things are just basic retail skills. Pointing, telling you to find it yourself, telling you to assume that everything you just spent over $ 150 on is correct, and finally laughing at you is completely unprofessional.

Alicia MPT and owner of Taos Physical Therapy has no people skills when consulting with her…read morepatients or at least with me during my first initial consultation. SHAMING I believe is what I received from Alicia. She leaves her patients feeling bad about themselves based on her own prejudices of people dealing with DIABETES and with little to no tact labeling with strong prejudices Morbidly Obease people. I was made to believe that I brought this health problems upon my self. There was even a concern on her part that I could infact be a target for early Dementia based on my father's medical history. So did she provide a non bias assessment, I would say NO! Never have I felt so targeted and discrimination by a health care practitioner. Questions maybe undertones of racism?

I thought I would never feel hopeful or positive again regarding being my old self and enjoying my favorite activities. I felt done at 54 years old. It was with this mindset that I first stepped into the haven that is Taos Physical Therapy. Everyone from the front desk staff to the therapists immediately set out to reassure me I was in good hands, and I was. In particular, Leo Kaeck literally changed my negative perspective to a more hopeful one over the course of just a few visits. Not only was Leo patient and kind to a fault, but his encouragement and amazing intuition proved to be instrumental in taking me out of that negative fog. And those were just a few things Leo did right. He's also an extremely knowledgeable and skilled therapist, knowing just when to push and when to back off. He knew my injuries and how best to work with them on an almost greater level than my surgeon. Not once did I feel out of my depth or ability level, and each week only made me feel more positive and on-track. I'll never be 20 again, but I'm well on my way to recovery, and for that I'll forever be so very grateful to Leo and staff for all they did for me. Thank all of you at Taos Physical Therapy; I'll always be grateful for all you've done!
