The first time I went to Tapas was about one and a half year ago and I thought this place and its food was amazing! Sadly, I did not get the same experience this year. I recently went there with a friend on a popular voucher deal offer: £25 off the bill, and was sooo looking forward to it. The table was booked for 18.00 and when I arrived I was given a table near the entrance. There were only two other tables occupied with guests, so I asked if there was a chance to get another table. The answer was no, due to all the tables being reserved ?!? The strange thing was that none of the other guests arrived until an hour later. Also, the waitress was quite rude. Not a first good impression. The interior looks funky. You certainly wont miss out on a Spanish Flair! We were given the menu, with not much explanation on what the "deal" entailed. As the place was so quiet we could hear the staff talking (constantly) behind the counter, which was totally disturbing. As the night went on, it became better. We got a new waitress (more friendly) and the food was very good. Don't take me wrong: I absolutely adore the food (less the service and the price). I thought that the prices for the tapas were quite steep. They offer all variations of tapas: Vegetarian, Meat and Fish. Their menu is very easy to read and clear. We ordered some carne and vegetarianos tapas: Chorizo a la Plancha (sausage), Presa Iberica (ham), Patatas Bravas (Potatoes in spicy tomato sauce), Berenjenas con Miel (aubergines), Queso de Mursia al Vino (Goats Milk cheese in wine sauce). For dessert I got myself a liquor coffee (as you do when already full). Would I go back? Maybe.....

i have long been a customer at Tapa and when the need arrived for a girly dinner with Nikki A, Lou V, and Chelsea i had only one place to suggest. I knew the food was good, the location perfect, and an offer of £25 (per 2 people) for a bottle of rioja and four tapas, nothing could go wrong. i wandered my way down to the shore, debating whether it was raining or just misty and arrived to a lovely Nikki A waiting for me with a glass of white wine at the little bar they have at the front of the restaurant. As the table was ready, we decided to move there and the waiter very happily brought over the first bottle of wine and a big pitcher of water. Lou V and Chelsea arrived shortly after this and more wine was poured and menus taken up. We had a very friendly waiter (a rather attractive young man for the single ladies out there ;) ) who told us the specials and recommended how many dishes would be good for the four of us. 8 were already included in the offer, but he suggested we may wait one or two more but could easily order these later on if needed. decisions were made and the final 8 tapas were spanish meatballs, crispy prawns, calamari, patatas bravas, patatas alioli, chorizo with tomato sauce, grilled tiger prawns, and fried auberinge with honey. (apologies although having been a spanish major at university that language skill fails me recalling the correct names...) more chat ensued and more lovely rioja was poured and then the parade of the tapas began! the dishes came out as they were ready, but all fairly close together and it was a feast for the eyes and our tummies!! i immediately tucked into the crispy prawns, a favourite of mine, and they were just as sumptious and juicy as ever. the chorizo was still hot and the tomato sauce zingy and full of flavour. the meatballs came with a lovely tomato sauce, and the patatas bravas and alioli were crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside and accompanied with delicious toppings!! the auberinges were sliced thinly with a crispy batter and topped with honey making them the perfect combination of savoury and sweet. lasty the grilled tiger prawn proved a bit of a production for me as i had to have Lou V remove the head before i'd remove the rest of the body. after de-shelling, the prawn was enjoyed thorougly. i passed on the calamari as squid isn't my thing but it appeared that everyone else found this very tasty. after the main dishes were cleared away, we took no time at all the inform the waiter to bring three portions of the churros con chocolate. i made it very clear that this girl does not share dessert, so while the others did i had my own portion :) the churros were freshly made with a cup of thick dark melted chocolate to dip them into. just heaven really.... phew...that was a lot of food to review!! but some last comments, although we were there on an offer and were rather loud with our chat and jovality, the waiter never failed to show up at our table with a smile and be as helpful as ever. i also appreciate that long after the food was finished and dessert consumed, Nikki A and i proceeded to have another glass of wine and were made to feel as if we could have stayed all night...if only we hadn't had to work the next day! i seriously love this place and find it's a fantastic restaurant to go to for a catch up with friends over lunch, a girl's dinner, or a romantic date. and with the various offers that they always have on this place is an amazing value! £10 for 7 tapas to share between 2 people at lunch, £25 for a bottle of wine and 4 tapas between 2 people, and they're currently giving you a £10 voucher for your next visit when you settle your bill. seriously, why are you still reading this, go to Tapa!!!

    Sorry.... Finished all the food

Tried seven dishes... All were absolutely amazing! La Tasca has nothing on this place. Highly recommended

Chocolate and orange mousse. Will sit like a decadent brick in your belly, delicious, but deadly.

Tapa is pretty good. Love the vibe of the restaurant and pretty sure I'll be back again. We shared patatas bravas (of course); aubergine crisps (disappointing in reality); vegetable and chickpea stew (delicious!); stuffed romano pepper (pretty tasty, but no great surprises); artichoke hearts (never really a bad option); chicken (under flavoured) and chorizo (half a pig on a plate). I think the vegetable options were better than the meat, but I'm kinda biased that way. We wrapped things up with the chocolate orange mousse, just to make sure we had lead in our bellies. I liked Tapa, but I think discriminating choices maketh the meal here.

    Chocolate orange mousse. Yum

What used to be called Hanam's is now Daika; same menu, same offerings, I don't know if they've changed ownership. We ordered: -- Mixed Grill (£24.95): three meat skewers that he said were middling. -- Halloumi Fries (£9.85): usually my favorite thing on a Mediterranean menu, but theirs was a bit tough, took chewy to the next level, & the pomegranate molasses did nothing to improve the flavor. -- Babaghanoush (£9.80): nice texture with the eggplant bits, properly smoky, & went well with the pita that stayed warm in its parchment bag. -- we also had lemonade in a bottle that was tart & refreshing. Rather than having lunch at Daika, we instead should have ordered a hookah; smoking shisha on their beautiful terrace with a view of Old Town around us would've been more enjoyable.

It was actually excellent and I would give that dish five stars. The Falafel was a bit dry. The grilled prawns were served with the shell on so they had to be peeled which was a bit messy. I usually don't expect to peel my prawns at the dinner table. The meats on the mixed grill were average. The minced meat kabob was the most flavorful. The others were a bit overcooked. Also, they may have been a bit understaffed but they generally did not clear any dishes when we were finished with them unless we asked them to.

They basically only have pizza and wraps (no menu like the one in the pic) I was expecting a hole in the wall with yummy food. It was indeed a hole in the wall, but the food thoroughly disappointing. Though the wrap was 10" x 3" the kofta hiding inside it was about 7"x1"-the veggie to meat ratio was ridiculous. I guess that's what makes it a small? I ordered a chicken schwarma with chips. I was kind of hoping for traditional Turkish bread, but my meal came on the thinner pita-style bread that didn't exactly hit the spot, but was delicious all the same. The schwarma was large for £5.50 and my fries could have easily served two, the serving was massive. Also served with garlic sauce and a sweet type of chilli sauce. Overall a flavourful and filling meal that I would certainly have again. For about £8 this meal could have served two and easily satisfied two grumbling bellies.

The prompt greeting from the fellow behind the counter was welcoming, verging on friendly. Seemingly to ensure absolutely -no- confusion on the point of whether or not we were buddies, he referred to me no fewer than half a dozen times as 'my friend' during the ten minutes I spent in the shop. Not bad for never having exchanged names, right? After a brief perusal of the menu board, I opted for a basic donner kebab. Reportedly, they also serve up everything from burgers and chips to pizza to curries. Quite versatile, considering the wee footprint of this takeaway. With my meaty bounty (which barely fit in the styrofoam container!) in tow, I returned to my hotel room to stuff my face before passing out, as one does after four drams of whisky in one night. Though I can't rave much about the meat (it ran a bit on the dry side), Pasha certainly isn't stingy with portions. Even though my last meal was nearly twelve hours prior, I was still only able to get down about half my kebab before raising my white flag in surrender. The combination of freshly toasted pita topped with shaved lamb (presumably) and topped off with salad, a lone wedge of tomato, and a heavy dousing of white sauce left me feeling satisfied and sleepy. And as if you had to ask what I did with the other half of my kebab... it vanished once the sun came up and tasted even better than the night before. Waste not, want not!
