Yes, this is certainly not the kind of place you would have found in Neukölln until recently (for the record, I first moved to the district in the mid 90's). It's early days but we found the welcome friendly and the cuisine really very good - we had the lamb ("Geschmort met Orangen") and the veal which were served with a small selection of vegetables (green beans, potatoes). The quality was excellent, portions not large (as to be expected, to be honest). Wines good and reasonable by the glass. The winner was the dessert, especially "Tres texturas de chocolate". Fazit: more special occasion than everyday, but a proper restaurant by any standard. Give it a go, but keep an eye out for a snotty individual lurking around outside.

This restaurant was the best place that Ive eaten in all of Berlin! It's run by a very warm and…read morewelcoming culinary enthusiast, and I cannot express what wonderful service and dining atmosphere there was enough! The restaurant isn't large, but it can get busy. The owner however makes every effort to make it as enjoyable as possible! We were an unexpectedly large group, but he and his team handled us with ease. While the menu was not in English, he was more than happy to translate, and said English menus were on the way. The food is a traditional style of Catalonian quisine, and it was equisite to say the least. There isn't much around the Estrel hotel, but this restaurant should be sought out by anyone staying in any part of Berlin. I'd describe the food in detail, but really it all comes down to being absolutely delicious. Our group ordered one of each entree and they were more than happy to allow us to partake family style and share. I'd recommend this even higher if I could, so in summary: Eat here. You won't be disappointed!

We had a reservation, but (unsurprisingly) the place was still empty at 8pm on a Thursday. We ordered some wine which was well-priced and so-so, but the food was truly disgusting. Fishy, old-tasting, nasty shrimp. Overcooked meats floating in thick, greasy sauces. Tacky, cafeteria-like plating...just slop, basically. Luckily we had only started with a few tapas, so we escaped without much damage. Only positive: Walking distance from Bar Raval, which saved our night.

5 stars for not being perfect…read more Yes, the furniture is a bit shabby. Yes, the avocado dip for the chips has slightly too much garlic in it. Yes, you sometimes have to wait a bit before the waiter notices that you want to order another beer but all this unimportant shortcomings somehow manage to sum together into an extremely inviting, relaxed an cosy location, a location where: - you can spend a perfectly relaxed evening chatting with your friends after a stressful day - you order warm meals of the day (listed on the wall) or simple but tasty tapas (on the menu) - a trumpeter comes around to enhance the atmosphere with live sound - the staff is friendly and unobtrusive - the spirit of Kreuzberg mixes up with the feeling of Spanish siesta P.S. Opening hours of this café are a secret to me. Once I tried to visit it on Friday at half past one p.m. and it was closed but then the same evening around 8 p.m. it was open
