Stone baked feta cheese with honey rum!
    Aussy A.

I am a fan of Tapenade's ridiculously indulgent but not crazy expensive salad buffet. I know, I know - how Californian to be raving about a "salad" buffet but if you're thinking bowls of leaves and bottles of pre-made dressing, you're wrong. Tapenade, as a Mediterranean restaurant, will have a range of salads waiting for you: Greek variations of crisp lettuce with feta cheese and olives; kosher salt on bulbs of fennel and nuts; olive oil drizzled on plump tomatoes and crunchy onions. Then, there's a fresh selection of oysters! They like to say it's from Washington... But they mean Washington in Aklan! Can you believe those oysters are local? They're luscious! Turn around and you have a charcuterie that features salami, pepperoni, and Jamon Serrano. A variety of cheeses will lay before you. The smell of freshly-baked bread fills the ante-room of the salad buffet. Go back for seconds, go back for thirds. It's only PHP 700++ and it's worth it! You'll have time and space to order their delicious oven-baked feta cheese that you can drizzle with some honey-rum. i believe it's a kitchen special and I have to agree... Just mouthwatering. Located on Ayala as an alternative to the Pen's or Makati Shang's lobby, I am really loving this new and worthy alternative to the Makati diningscape. I would watch out for Discovery Primea's other restaurants!

I've been hearing a lot about Tapenade in the new Discovery Primea in Makati. Some raved about it while some said it was just ok... So my family and I decided to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with their food. We ordered their peppered steak, lamb, croquettes, 2 pizzas and one of my relatives went for the salad bar. Now, the food may seem a bit pricey but for the quality and flavor, I think it was worth it. Their meats were tender and tasty, although my dad said the steak was a bit too salty. (We mentioned it to the chef and he said he will fix it). We enjoyed them too much that I forgot to take a photo! Their pizzas were flavorful, but not overwhelming, and the dough was just the right thickness... Not too thin nor too thick. They also have a salad bar which is actually more than just a salad bar. They had some breads, seafood (oysters, salmon), cheeses and Spanish meats. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner at Tapenade. Like I mentioned, it may be a bit pricey, but for a special occasion, it's worth it. I look forward to trying their other dishes next time!

I'm rating this restaurant purely on the salad bar, because it's just not worth it eating anything else here.

I'll leave another review when order comes. Updated: it's no longer going by the same name, but I did order the one pasta dish they had with the truffles, and it was delicious as well as two chocolate croissants that were amazing. It was also one of the best lattes I've had in the city. It's not easy finding good food in Manila unless you're at a five-star hotel. So this place is not bad for breakfast croissants and may be a quick bite to get you out of the fast food haven that is vanilla.

Farfalla is the in-house restaurant of the Hotel Durban, a small but classy budget hostel in Makati's tourist zone. And while most of the time the terms "budget hostel" and "in-house restaurant" should be your cue to run far, FAR away from the joint, this is not the case with Farfalla. Farfalla prides itself with making their own pasta and baking their own bread, and it shows in their dishes. I've eaten here a couple of times (I love staycationing in Hotel Durban), and it has never disappointed. The pastas are on point, the bread is lovely, and everything is reasonably priced. But for me, the best feature of Farfalla is the outdoor seating. Overlooking Durban st, which connects the more chaotic P Burgos street and Makati Avenue, you will inadvertently be witness to the fascinating subculture only found in Makati's tourist belt, while being shielded from it. It's like being protected by a force field while you watch foreigners from every persuasion, "massage therapists", hawkers, and partygoers walk, scream, shout, argue, run, fight, and party in front of you. It's entertaining! Something should be said about eating here on a Sunday morning. There you are, eating your breakfast (which is excellent, by the way), while the entire street is quiet and peaceful. Every now and then, you find a couple of tourists/foreigners/locals dragging themselves back to their hotels/homes. Again, very entertaining.

Luckily it was just walking distance from where me and my family were staying in BGC. I remember during quarantine in 2021, my friend sent me the roasted chicken and since then I couldn't get over the juiciness and flavors of it. So I had to order it for myself this time. The veggies that come along with it and the sauce is so flavorful. Kind of wish the chicken was bigger because it's just that good! The pizza was okay not the best I've had but it was a nice snack to try. I didn't get to try the pasta because I was just really into my chicken. I'd only recommend this place if you want to try it. It's quite pricey for the portions but it is an authentic Italian restaurant out here in the Philippines. The interior is quite nice and they do have outdoor seating. However the time we came it was excruciatingly humid. So we dined inside. Service was good. The staffs were quite attentive and can speak English to help those who don't speak Tagalog. I see why my friends would rave about the chicken though. I do recommend that as something to try.

We ordered the "family meal"?? which contain a rice with ribs and chicken breast, pizza, 2 salads, 2 varieties of pasta, and 4 iced tea. The pasta taste good i think one of them was the Pollo Pizzamente, the other pasta i totally forgot what kind, we ordered the Mona Liza pizza to go with it too and orange juice for me, and some calamari (i like how they make their calamari). The orange juice taste different but not in a bad way, i like it! it looks like pineapple juice but it taste like orange. Service was good and the staff were very helpful with our inquiries. For the dessert we ordered tiramisu however after tasting a little of it we learned that it has whiskey in it so i had to order a different dessert for myself.
