We were on our way to coba and saw a few food stands by the road by Tulum and decided to stop for some food. There was a row of 3-4 food stands, but one had more patrons than the other, so we approached a table of happy, full customers to ask how the food was and everyone raved about it. Their tour guide told us this was the best pibil in the area and that he's been taking people here for years and come here since he was a kid. ok. SOLD. So yes... the pork is marinated in spices, cooked underground for hours, and then served hot, juicy, tender, and sooo good. You can buy per taco, or per kilo, whichever you want. We tried a few tacos and decided we liked it so much we just got a plate of pibil and then tortillas came with it anyways... (would have been much easier to just start with a plate with maybe a 1/4 kilo pibil to begin with, but ah well...the prices are like 13 pesos for a taco so still very good and damn worth it). And I have to say, the handmade tortillas here are amazing - the best I've ever eaten. Made by elderly ladies, you could tell they took pride in what they made and it showed in the quality, texture, taste and just everything. Delicious!

It's a small place right on the side of the highway that shares a building with a couple of other restaurants. We were on the way to the Tulum ruins and decided to grab a bite beforehand. We ordered a bunch of cochinita pibil tacos and they were all pretty good. The pork was a little dry but the flavor was very good. The corn tortillas are fresh and very delicious. I'm glad we stopped here and will probably come back next time we're in Tulum.

Don't expect anything fancy or great service, but you will have some of the best cochinita pibil tacos around.

I hardly drink and did not get even a baby buzz from the drink. The Margarita was OK. The service was OK. Each drink was $300 MXN or around $17 USD. Maybe I visited on an off day? There's plenty of other places in the area, this place would be a last resort.

Lets get to the food shall we. Chapulunes Tacos - Yes I like this stuff. I adore the preparation. The avocado doesn't really do much for the rest of the taco, but sauced up its a 6.8/10 Mushroom Taco - I couldn't stress enough about my partiality to vegan food. I adore the texture and the taste. I feel they put all the effort on this taco. 8.7/10 Al Pastor - It's nice and juicy. The the pineapples are present. Taste does fall a little short from the ones I've had before. 7.6/10 Service was pleasant. The ambiance was a total vibe. I would definitely recommend.
