This small restaurant is a 20 minute drive through rural North Carolina from I-95. On a whim, we gave it a try and were wonderfully and pleasantly surprised. Both the service and the food bely the humble exterior and interior. The inside is Spartan with just a few tables, but the service couldn't be better. For lunch, I had Melecio's Quesadilla with Chorizo, served with rice & beans. My wife had Three Soft Shell Tacos with Steak and a side order of rice. Both meals were outstanding, and truly authentic. No fancy presentation here as the meals are served in "to-go" containers with a plastic spoon. When we were there, every table (all 5 of them!) were occupied entirely by locals, except for us. This is the best Mexican restaurant in North Carolina. I cannot believe it's smack dab in the middle of robco. I came here with my momma cause she told me it was the bees knees. The parking lot was packed after a rain storm. We walk into a gutted gas station. It was painted in Mexican colores. They gave us salsa and chips. The salsa and chips were thin just the way I like it. I ordered the Melecio burrito. It was basically fajitas trio wrapped in a burrito. It tasted like heaven and they didn't skip on the shrimp. Very good food, the quality and quantity is expected. Service is somewhat slow but that can be because they are always busy.

I find this hole in the wall surprisingly one of the best places for some sopes and tacos. This place has been many things throughout the years, but this taqueria has been the best thing for it; you can find their parking lot full throughout the day! They have decent seating, clean bathroom, quick service, bilingual staff, and the prices are decent for what you are served.
