I ABSOLUTELY LOVEEE their chicken tacos.. amazing, with their verde & red salsa..I even get it with avocado slices sometimes for an extra $3 why not.. deliciousss.. just writing about it is making my mouth watery. My co workers & I usually end up eating here at least once a week..we had to try other mexican establishments near by because 1. On Monday's this restaurant is closed & 2. Because they were on vacation but that's when we realized how much we loved this place.. after we tried the other two mexican spots we never went back to them. The restaurant itself it's small & cozy..but has enough chairs & tables if you want to sit down & enjoy your meal. It also has a TV & radio playing & a small but very clean bathroom. If you are wondering about where to park, they have a small parking lot behind the restaurant that you can park in if you can't find any street parking. I noticed it has a surveillance camera so you don't have to worry about anything happening to your car! Haha The workers are always very nice & helpful, we sometimes call & order ahead of time so it's ready when we come in to pick it up but they also will deliver near by, which is also a big plus. They take cc's but it is a min. Of $10 ... they also have desserts & a variety of drinks besides the mexican sodas. Taqueria Morelos is your run of the mill mama and papa Mexican restaurant. The jar of horchata was staring at me begging to be ordered, but i fought the temptations and stuck to my mission. Tacos Al Pastor 7.3/10 - I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel as though these tacos could have given me more. YES, the meat was flavorful and juicy, YES you can taste the pineapple, YES all the flavors came together harmoniously. But for some reason I kept thinking I was eating chicken, maybe it had to do with the way the meat was chopped up finely. Texture played a big role in determining how much I reallyyy liked these tacos. They were good and I would perhaps get them again, but i've definitely had better. Quesabirria 8.7/10 - When I opened the box them cheeses were staring at me and I knew I was gonna stretch that shit out. i was blown away buy how good the cheese melted into the savory meat dripping everywhere (yes everywhere). They did not hold back on the cheese, and i'm very grateful for that! The tortilla was solid but I wish they were just a tad bit more crunchy. I devoured them bitches tho so it's all good. Consome 8/10 - Textbook definition of consome right here, it elevated the birria tacos and brought out that meaty taste. On its own it gave a nice warm hearty feeling in my tummy. It was cozy and no further to be honest. Green sauce 6.9/10 - I know green sauces aren't typically the spiciest sauce you can get, but i detected zero spice levels! The taste was rather refreshing, and had a nice hint of lime to it. You don't notice the flavors as much when you put them on the tacos, which made me a tiny bit sad Red sauce 7.8/10 - I was worried this sauce would be on the bbq side of the flavor spectrum, but I was surprised but it's smoky richness and decent level of spice. don't go too heavy with this one because then you will see the levels of hotness that come with this sauce. I actually taste this one with my tacos and didn't overpower the meat flavors. I wish more red sauces were as complex as this one. Cilantro 10/10 - very fresh, generous, and green Overall experience 7.75/10 - Although I expected more from the Al Pastor tacos, the birria tacos made up for it and consome and red sauce really sealed the deal. next time i'm shit face drunk in newark and it's not too late I'll come back with a smile. read more

We just moved here from Bay Area and we have tried a lot of tacos in California but in east coast, we have only been here and los tacos #1. We love this place better than los tacos #1 especially for the price. You can literally get 6 tacos for $10. Tacos are smaller but three to four is usually enough for me. Hope in the wall but actually have off Street parking for a few cars. Took my fiancé to PT on the block & decided to check it out & was not disappointed. Food was fresh & delicious. Got the fajita chicken, chicken burrito. I do thing the portion for the fajita was small for the price but presentation was nice & it was delicious. Chicken was well seasoned all the way through and not dried out like a lot of other taco spots. Will try some more items on menu in the future as I will definitely be getting more food from there. This place has some of the best tacos I have ever eaten. I ordered the mixed tacos - 2 chorizo and 2 steak. They were so delicious I ordered a fifth taco. Taqueria Morelos is a small and quaint Mexican restaurant with great food. There's about 6 tables (with 4 chairs per table). We decided to eat here since we didn't want to walk far but were in the mood for something different. The service was great! I'm assuming we were greeted and hosted by the owner. We ordered the guacamole and chips to share. We also ordered spicy pork tacos, a mix of chicken and lengua tacos, steak burrito, and the bistec encebollado. There are 4 tacos per order. The food was tasty and served in good portions. The guacamole was fresh and made to order. The tacos were great too! My favorite were the chicken ones. My husband had the ordered the lengua tacos and swore they were the best lengua tacos he's ever ordered on the east coast. He should know about tacos - he's from SoCal. The steak burrito was good. It wasn't the best burrito I've had, but it does the job. I also got to try the bistec encebollado. There were at least 3-4 steak slices in the order. The steak was well seasoned and served with rice and a salad. There was enough food to bring home for leftovers. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise and I will definitely be back. read more

Went the other night for dinner with wife and son. Friendly staff. Food was great, very similar to what I had while staying in a small town in Mexico at a friends house. Had Jalapeno and baby onions for an app. We had Longaniza (Mexican sausage) tacos, burrito with chicken and sausage, and pollo a la Mexicana. All were very good and tasty. I've been to this place a couple times since it opened about a month ago. The tacos at this spot are absolutely authentic. The tortillas are made in house and all the sauces are great. The chicken tacos are made with all white chicken topped with cilantro. They use one corn tortilla instead if two like most Mexican places do, which I think it's good because two corn tortillas always makes me think they use it as a filler. I think they're a little overpriced due to the small tacos (3 per order). You can get a better bang for the buck at other Mexican restaurants around the area. I have been to Taqueria Morelos twice now and have had two great in restaurant experiences (have also done takeout and it was great too). It has a true family feel and the staff are really friendly. Restaurant itself is small and has about 6 tables but they do have parking around back. The food is very tasteful, affordable, and good portions. I would highly recommend you walking one block off Ferry Street to Lafayette Street for this place. I will be returning soon. read more

My husband and I decided to stop by and have a quick bite ,to start of I don't reccomend this place at all they took about an hour to serve us inside where 2 other tables. one table seem to been almost done so did the other table . So i dont understand why it took them long to get our food ready we order an order of tacos and one burrito . Tacos where tasteless ,burritos was horrible i could barly eat it they stuff them with alot of rice on top of that we where charge an order of chips with guac that we didnt order and where serve at the beginning and though it was courtesy from the house to find out after meal was done it was a mistake from the server and she never bother saying anything till the end when we got the bill . We ate here recently while in the area for a concert. The food was good. Everything was fresh. Inside the restaurant is small, but comfortable. The staff is very friendly. We enjoyed our meal. I work in the IronBound about a block away from this restaurant. I was excited to see it opened and because it's in the neighborhood our office always likes to support local places. The food was disappointing. Chicken tacos, vegetarian burritos, rice and beans and the guacamole with chips where all blah! No flavor just plain! We ordered a side of rice and beans and unfortunately they only offer "small sides" which was a surprise to us when we saw it because no one told us they small size =tiny sample sides. I will post pictures of how small these "small" side orders are! The yellow rice taste like box rice and the black beans are watered down and they have a charcoal taste to them! Everything needs seasoning!!! Everything needs salt! Everything we ordered needs improvement . Btw when I returned to asked them about their side order (because it was literally a tiny cup!) they said It was my fault because I didn't tell them how many people would be eating from the side Oder. It seems ridiculous because I ordered an order of rice and beans plain and simple-Didn't know I had to be specific about how many people would be eating from it! I expected a small order of rice and beans but this was just a joke! I wish them luck with their business and I hope they improve their dishes, but we will never order from here again! read more
