This was one of the most unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional interactions I've had at any retail store. If I could leave a 0 star review I would. We were calmly looking at Pokémon cards when a service manager approached us with immediate attitude and told us to leave, without offering any clear explanation. He had little ma syndrome guaranteed. From the start, his tone carried a level of animosity that was definitely unneeded. When we politely asked what the issue was, he responded in a condescending and dismissive way, even saying we were "beating around a dead horse" instead of handling the situation professionally. It was very surprising to see someone in a manager role or at-least he claimed to be one acting in this manner.  We remained calm and tried to address his behavior respectfully, explaining that the way he was communicating was unprofessional and that most customer service interactions are handled with basic respect. He got very flustered after we remained calm throughout this situation. Instead of de-escalating, he became visibly aggressive and increasingly confrontational. At one point, he even threatened to call the police over us simply looking at Pokémon cards, which felt like an extreme and unnecessary reaction.  He then escalated things further by calling someone and claiming he had asked us to leave "9 times," which is completely inaccurate. That kind of exaggeration doesn't exactly inspire confidence in how situations are handled. After wards we talked to his higher up and it seemed like this is a common occurrence with "it". "It" definitely has little "it" syndrome.  This felt less like reasonable policy enforcement and more like an overreaction from someone unwilling or perhaps unable to communicate like a civilized human. Hopefully this is not reflective of how management is generally expected to behave here, because if it is, that's concerning. read more

A quality store located in the heart of Ankeny, it provides all the options that you would hope for in a Target and seems to have everything in stock. I appreciated the ease of the large parking lot, and the number of check-out registers available. Their grocery section is high-quality and carries all the popular products. That day, I shopped for a number of home needs and was able to purchase everything that I needed. Their pricing is good, and their hours are customer-friendly. read more

The 1st thing to remember is that everyone is struggling with staff and to be kind to the staff who are there in trying to help people. I found that staff were more than willing to help me and most of the time would actually walk me to an area that I had questions about rather then just give me a general directions and send me on my way. The store was clean and well organized. Target has all kinds of products that are appropriate for young families. This Target was large and newer. They particularly had a great selection of Asian and other ethnic foods.. My particular area of interest is their paper products and groceries. It's where I go to get my bulk paper towels and my bulk Kleenex. This particular target has all the items that you could ever need. They have high quality in fresh food, frozen food, and dry goods. They have a great beverage selection, including water. Health drinks and wine and alcohol. I find that I can usually get in-and-out in a very timely manner. read more

I normally love Target, but I had a very odd experience this morning. Everywhere we went people weren't looking and almost ran right into us. Even employees would run out from aisles without looking and a staff member about hit our cart. We also had an odd interaction with a staff member when we were looking for a fillet knife. We asked about if their were any more knives other than the main selection displayed in the kitchen section. He then took a moment to search on his device and made it sound like he knew where other knives were. He kept going on and on without really saying anything to the point where we didn't care about finding the knife anymore and wanted to leave. He then lead us to butter knives and we made it seem like it was what we wanted so he would stop helping us. I feel bad because he wanted to help, but ended up waisting our time by trying to act like he knew what he was doing instead of just saying they didn't have what we were looking for. read more

Prices at target have always been bad and the company is terrible. The new 10 items or less at the self checkout would only make sense if there were more cashiers actually available. All it does is lose money since people would rather get less items than wait 20 minutes just to checkout, since there are only like 2 open. read more

I'm giving this review on behalf of my wife. I saw a drawing once that showed a map of the inside of a Target store and for men it showed an arrow going straight to one area then out and for women it showed the arrow going all over the store and back again before leaving. This explains my wife's shopping habits and love of the store perfectly. We go in for one thing and an hour later we have purchased things I had no idea we needed or that even existed. This Target store is kept up well and appears clean on the inside. It has a very wide selection throughout the whole store. The one negative of the store is their return policy. It is a lot more strict then most chain box stores. The groceries are located on the south side of the store, clothes are in the middle, and a wide array of everything is everywhere else. If your wife is like mine remember to bring your track shoes when you go inside cause you're going to cover this store front and back. read more

We LOVE this store! We go here more then any other store! They always seem to have what we're looking for at a price we feel is fair. We'll do some grocery shopping here on occasion. They don't have everything we normally need but will get us by most of the time. Like I mentioned before, this is usually our first stop when up in the Ankeny area. read more

I don't have a reciept or the card because i didn't buy them. i just wanted the same pants, a size up. & they wouldn't exchange them for me because i didn't have those things. they wanted me to return & rebuy. i didn't bring an ID because why do they need that to give me the same product back? then she can't even notice that its two different sizes. i told her the next size up ones are the ones i want. & she couldn't figure it out. read more

Poor professionalism and customer service. I witnessed a Lead at Target in Ankeny, IA rudely yelling at an outside business vender in front of customers. Then not allowing him to talk or giving him time to say something when he clearly had a stutter in front of customers. The outside vender guy starts to leave. Than he proceeds to follow the guy through the store continuing the chewing out in front of customers. There's no reason for that associated not pulling him aside and discussing the problem in private. Makes me not want to support the target In Ankeny if it's the kind of behavior that's accepted into their work place. read more

This is a target with a grocery store. Huge parking lot. Lots of cart returns so no reason to leave your cart out and about hunting the side of someone's car. Spacious inside and easy to get through. It is set up like your standard Target. Lots of special son end caps. Prices are higher than Walmart but you probably already know that. Staff is generally polite and helpful. They have a decent return policy. The bathrooms are kept clean and well stocked. They have a food court which is average at best. read more

Target is my go to store especially for home goods, movies, or seasonal items. The prices are decent and they have a large selection. They don't have everything and sell out of some items during sales. But they generally are great about rain checks or alternative items. The staff is pleasant and helpful. They really should have a few more registers open for the amount of registers they have. But no problem. The optic center is also great. read more

Extremely disappointed in this store customer service and the store manager. I went in today to see why a gift card was not activated. I was met with an assistance the said "Are you here for as store pick up" . I said no I have a problem with this card. IMMEDIATELY all I got was WE ARE NOT TAKING ANY RETURNS UNTIL APRIL 13TH. When I asked again all he did was shove a sign at me that said the same thing. NOT even a small amount of customer service AT ALL. This target is disgusting. Bathroom looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a week. Racks are a disaster. Only two cashiers working and it's only 7:30 on a Sunday. Best of all I overheard one of the teenage employees trying to pickup a girl using a cheese pickup line. Don't think he got her number. read more

The remodel has not been good for this store. This Target went from having a great selection of products to a minimal selection. I now have to go to multiple stores to get everything that I need. There are also never enough checkout lanes open. read more

Have to agree with the other reviewer. Poor Experience. Took my daughter in for 6 month photos. Started out ok. Photographer asked a few questions and we got the little one set up. First round of photos were taken, then we set up a second pose. Photographer then told me that she didn't get any of the first round of photos,( flash didn't go off ) So we are doing a second round, and my girl tips over and starts to cry. While calming her down, the photographer is setting up for a third pose. We get her calmed down and take the third series. Finally my girl decided that she had enough and we ended the shoot early, so then the photographer said that she didn't get the third series either. So the photographer apologized and said she would give a cd of 3 photos for free. We pick the photos, she makes the cd. We get it home, and it doesn't work. I go back to the store, she makes another Cd, and it still doesn't work. (Mac issue we think. Took cd to Grampa and were able to get the photos.) At any rate, we are going to book an appointment at Clix. and try to forget that Target has a photo studio. read more

They don't update their stock online and have placed many in store orders that have had to be cancelled due to item being out of stock after placing order. Target.com also has more than once gone past the 2 day shipping promised. I am very unhappy. read more

Horrible! Went there with my family to get pictures of my son and his cousins. My mother tries to get pictures of all the grandkids twice a year. We usually would go to the location in Urbandale but my mother wanted to go to this one because she preferred it. Never again. We arrived a little early and waited for our appointment time. The "photographer" took in all the kids and I went inside with them. She wanted to do them all together first cause she said that that's usually the harder one for her to do. Ok fine. She put down a couch for them to all sit on and my son would not sit on it. He did not like to be anywhere near the couch and she just stood there looking at me like I was supposed to come up with a solution. After about 10 minutes of trying I kept telling her this wasn't going to work and to try something else. She just looked at me and said, "Well, I don't know what you want me to do, should we just do the other kids then?" She then told me to go out and ask my mother what she wanted to do. After I left she had my sister go in and then she proceeded to take photos of just the 3 kids excluding my son completely. She never once came back out to even try to get some photos of him by himself, something my mother had requested along with the group shots. Then when it came time to pick out the picture she did not a single enhancement on any of the photos, even though the coupon my mother had was for enhanced sheets. I will never step foot in another Target Portrait Studio after this experience. It was horrible and the employees are horrible at working with kids and very disrespectful. read more
