It MUST be said: this is my favorite place I've been in years! I know Yelp is not a common platform…read morein Europe, but I will shout from the roof of any place that will listen that tourists, residents, and anyone for that matter MUST visit. Dare I say it's worth making a trip just to Belgium or Liège for this opportunity alone... allow me to explain Throughout my visit in Belgium I was on a quest for the best waffle. When I arrived on Monday and it was closed one might think that I would be disappointed, but I was all the more encouraged to see that the place was closed only for its employees to be hard at work preparing for their beloved customers the following days. This particular business has three different establishments: 1- A classic waffle shop, 2- A pastry and waffle shop 3- A fry shop On all three accounts this will be the best treats that I have had in a long time, but what makes it even more special are the people and the service. One family owns all of these, and they made me fall in love with Belgians! They generously explained everything from the Classic Liege waffle, the speculoos cookies, cone of fries etc. I can't wait wait to come back for more. :)

Also we expected freshly made waffles in addition to the stuffed ones ( taste of the stuffed one was decent). My best advice: go across the street, it looks less chic but has a lot more local customers and seems to be more accepting of people in general.

Didn't expect to find a "deli" in Liege that served pastrami. If you are from NY/NJ you know this…read moreshouldn't be classified as a deli but I will let them get away with it. It is a lunch spot/coffee shoo. They have all sorts of sandwiches including pastrami. I has to try the original since that is what they are famous for. We also tried the soup du jour which was potato/onion soup. As a side we ordered chips a la mexicaine which were Lays chips with salt and pepper. Ok... as for the pastrami sandwich it isn't very classic. First off it is served on white bread and the bread is way too soft for the sandwich. The pastrami tastes good though and they got that right. The mustard works too. Overall, the sandwich was good but it wasn't as authentic as they claim. I know I am coming off tough but I gotta do it for the people. We also had the BLT sandwich and that honestly worked better since the ingredients held up well. Would have been better if they toasted the bread though. The soup wasn't very good period. Nothing else to say. The chips were Lays so you know how that goes. I like the vibe in there but it is a coffee shop more than a deli. That doesn't take away from the quality of the place just maybe the authenticity. Come check it out.

There is also a separate reading room. They have a nice selection of coffees and also serve food. All at a reasonable price. Friendly staff and free WiFi.
