What a deal! 5 wines, a baguette with dipping sauce and great Gouda cheese from a near by dairy. What a great deal! They have a great variety of wines so everyone can find something to enjoy. $15 for 5 glass of wine to try, bread, cheese, and oil. I'd say it was money, and time, well spent. My favorite wine is the red white a blue, but from the samplings I was able to find 3 more I really like. We went right before Christmas and were the only ones in there besides people coming in just to buy bottles of wine, assuming for Christmas. Big, nice, and clean establishment. We absolutely love this place! It has tasty wines and you can purchase a tasting of 4-5 wines small loaf of warm delicious crusty bread, aged Gouda from the cheese place close to by, dipping oil, jelly. It is really a nice meal with the wine. It is too much food for one person... The place is large and could and does events. I think it is a great venue for company events, private parties or just the events they host... If you are in the area you should stop by... we actually like to make the hour trip from Des Moines as we love to place and then we can stock up on the wine we like... read more

Pizza on the patio is lovely. Wine is generally a little too sweet, but you can do a tasting before you buy for wine to take home. The gift shop is fun. I think they hold "events" here, maybe related to their great pizza oven. I want to try those. read more

Went on a Thursday to a small plates event. It wasn't very busy and the waitress said it just varies by event. We were warmly greeted and asked if we'd like to sample the wines. We could choose 5/7 for free. She asked us each for a favorite wine and then worked from there, describing each wine. She was very knowledgeable. We each discovered wines we liked. We then ordered our food and an accompanying glass of wine. We decided to split chicken enchiladas and chips and salsa. It wasn't really small plates--tapas-- because they weren't really shareable. We sat outside and enjoyed our wine. The food came and was tasty. It wasn't real expensive and was an enjoyable evening. read more

Ms T and I continue to be amazed at the explosion in the numbers of wineries almost everywhere we go. We enjoy stopping in and seeing what they have, even if they are not Chateau Petrus or Domaine Romanee-Conti. So while on our way to visit the T parents, we saw the signs and stopped in at Tassel Ridge. The stars are for the place and the nice experience. You can judge the wines for yourself. Now I have been accused of being a wine snob, which I flatly deny. I know what to expect from Midwestern wineries and let's face it, you are not going to find fine Bordeaux or Hermitage or Napa Valley or even Columbia Valley quality wines here. That goes for the wines made in the Midwest from grapes sourced from Napa or Washington, but it is still fun to stop and taste and look around. Tassel Ridge is one of the nicer places we have been and including some well-established places in the Augusta and Hermann AVA's. There is a lot of fairly undrinkable stuff made. I think any strength of these regions lies with off-dry white wines. I found Tassel Ridge's classification of dry, off-dry, semi-sweet and sweet to be pretty accurate. In Missouri I find that off-dry tends to be pretty sweet. Our excellent hostess told us that they were trying to use established industry guidelines for residual sugar levels in making these categorical designations. They have a really large spectrum of wines including some from California sourced grapes. We tasted the whites from dry to sweet and bought a few to the dryer end of the scale. The people were super friendly and we were able to have an extended conversation with them regarding their wines, their local grapes and their plans for expansion. The facility is very nice with a roomy and very nice gift shop and tasting area. They will give a short tour explaining the process from a balcony overlooking the processing area. Harvest was in full swing when we were there and the place was full of the sweet odor of fermenting grapes. This is a very nice place, just off of Highway 163, northwest of Oskaloosa. If you are too snooty to taste local wines, don't stop. If you just enjoy getting out and seeing what creative people are doing, it is a great place for a Fall outing. read more

Went here for the first time yesterday on a Saturday afternoon. We were immediately greeted when we walked in and offered to do a sampling. All the wines we sampled were delicious. We then bought a bottle to share on the outdoor patio, and an additional bottle to take home. We came there hoping to order wood fired pizza but learned that's only on certain days - so just make sure you check the food menu if you plan to eat there! But we got a sandwich instead, and cheese & crackers, and bread with dipping oil. All the food was delicious. Out on the patio we enjoyed the beautiful Iowa landscape with our great wine and food. I am not a wine drinker. But this weekend at HyVee I sampled some of the wine they had and it was sooooo good!!!!!!! I bought two bottles, the Cranberry Wine and the Pink Catawba. DELICIOUS! I highly recommend. read more

My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary lunch here. We were warmly greeted and offered a wine tasting. After sampling, we ordered a bottle of wine (Steuben) to have with our lunch. We walked around and looked at the variety of items for sale. There are large windows to view the wine making facility. We sat in the sun porch area and ate our lunch. The nacho chips with homemade salsa and taco trio were delicious. The service was very friendly, and we were even given a gift when we left. I have been to tassel ridge winery several times. I have attended a murder mystery, a cooking demo and just out for wine tasting. I have never been disappointed. The employees are gracious, helpful and very entertaining. It is a great way to spend an afternoon and they have a great gift shop. They are now expanding and have a brick pizza oven on a glass enclosed patio I cant wait for it to be up and running. read more

We came for wood fired pizza and had heard it was family friendly. The pizza was good, but not great...I had the margherita and it could have had some more basil, but the mozzarella was great. Server at the bar was extremely rude and not helpful at all...he rolled his eyes when we asked for plain cheese pizza. The cook or cook's assistant was super friendly last time we were here, but was completely cold when brings my is our food. Disappointed at best. The wine is good and it may save them since the last time we were here it was a lot of fun...maybe because we were the only patrons, though. Eh. Better luck next time I guess. read more
