Did an Italian cooking class there tonight and loved it. We made eggplant parm, mushroom risotto, and cannolis. I am not a cook by any means so I appreciated the step by step instruction. Some more advanced chefs in my group of ladies did roll their eyes at times. They let you bring your own wine and they will give you the classes. The kitchen was very clean and in addition to a big sink there was hand sanitizer at each table which I appreciated. I do have a few critiques. The assistants were not very helpful if you had a question but the class was small enough where it did not take long for the instructor to come over. The eggplant parm did not get to bake enough however each class is only 2 hours. The risotto and cannolis did turn out very delicious and they do give you copies of the recipes. I do question the cost ($65) a little since some of the ingredients seemed cheap like the tomato sauce. Despite all of this, I am willing to give them another shot.

Love, love, love these guys! My teenager (too old for summer camp in the usual sense, too young to not have some kind of organized activity in summer) had an AMAZING time at Tastebuds. Let's see, he did two weeks of baking skills: Garlic knots, muffins, smoothies, cinnamon buns, scones, pizza. Then he did a week of Urban Foodies. I want to do this camp next summer! (Apparently middle aged mothers are not permitted... more on that later.) Here's what they did: They went to a local butcher to learn about meat, see how it's sourced and aged, and then went back to the kitchen to make an amazing Bolognese sauce with fresh pasta. They did a candy store and made chocolate lava cakes. At a bakery, they learned about whoopie pies. They made cheese and biscuits. And everything was incredible. He brought samples home. He had a blast! He is planning to go again next summer. ( I did mention that he's a teen, right? Cause this is massively high praise.) I am told they do adult classes and will check back with you guys after I've done that - because I am so totally doing a grownup class.

This is a great date night idea! Kitchen is clean, inviting and bright and the staff is wonderful. We had MaryAnn as our instructor last night and I cannot say enough positive things about her! We walked in late to class due to being caught at work and a bit of a drive over, and she welcomed us in and got us started without skipping a beat. She was attentive to all our needs, including my dietary restrictions and taking care to get to know us personally. The food was great and we really enjoyed ourselves; learning a few new cooking tricks and recipes to bring home as well! Thanks, MaryAnn! We will certainly come back!

Naturally, because it was something new, we were a bit anxious about the experience. We weren't sure of all the moving pieces or how easy/difficult the process would be. When Ryan left on Saturday evening, our kitchen sparkling, it was like he had never even been there, except we were stuffed with incredibly delicious food. From my first contact with Ryan to the when he left my mom's house, it was all so easy. The menu was easy to decide on (Ryan has a huge selection of dishes he can put together). Ryan was easy going and guided us through each step. Ryan brings everything he needs, pots, pans, silverware, china, and food. He got to work right away, and when it came time to sit down, we were treated to an incredible feast. Every course (we had 5 courses) was delicious and elegant. We were served by Ryan's assistant. It was really like we were in a restaurant. I was eating with my back to the kitchen, and it was hard to even know he was there. He was efficient and didn't distract from our dinner (he was also willing to chat when we pulled him into the conversation.) If you are at all anxious about the process of having a chef cook dinner in your house, you shouldn't be if you pick Ryan. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Here's what we ate (If we could do it again, we'd eliminate one of the first three course... we. were. stuffed.): Hard Cider Pumpkin Bisque (a table favorite. Fall in a bowl) Wedge Salad (the dressing was dynamite) Scallops and risotto (Another hit. This is where we were feeling rather full). Filet OR herb encrusted chicken (maybe the best filet I've had in a long while. Just cooked perfectly.) Tangerine Creme Brulee (blow torch demo included!). If you're thinking about doing something romantic for a significant other or planning a larger dinner (we had 9 people), you should hire Ryan. You won't regret it and you'll impress everyone.

The braised short rib grilled cheese appetizers were nothing short of amazing and could have been a meal in themselves ... but we continued with fantastic corn chowder with crab, arugula salad with melon and pine nuts, and stuffed cod that melted in our mouths. Add in lava cakes ... and you have a meal that is totally over the top. But the best part of the night was Chef Ryan and his assistant Leslie - who cooked, served and cleaned up. As they left you would never have known anyone was in the kitchen !!! Simply amazing. If you want the luxury of have your own professional chef for an evening - call Chef Ryan - he's the best !

Special thanks to the children who joined us in the first show to play tambourines, maracas, and drumsticks. In the second show for older children, others volunteered to demonstrate their new ventriloquial skills after choosing a puppet of their choice from the big drum case. Volunteers were encouraged to say their first name into the microphone and try moving the puppet's mouth three times as they said "One, Two, Three" with their new puppet voice. Special thanks to Mr. Jarod, the teacher who volunteered to be our HUMAN DUMMY! He wore our ventriloquist face mask, played the "ringy, dingy, thingy" and "sang" our "No Bully Zone" original song with Chelsea The Chimpanzee. (No, they did not sing at the same time... we're not that good!)
