My family and I have gotten catering from here countless times over the years. We have had great experiences for the most part. A few items have gotten forgotten along the way but they are usually more than happy to correct their errors with full refunds. The staff was the best I have seen , upscale , black tie service , my compliments to the owners and staff for the way this place was run. Fabulous food ! Beautiful Facility ! I attended a wedding at this facility. The ceremony was held upstairs in a small room due to weather. The chairs were extremely close together and there was noise from other rooms which made it difficult to hear the ceremony. The reception was also fairly small with a small dance floor. However, the food and cake tasted fine. I was actually amazed at how delicious the cake was! The facility certainly looks nice overall, but it wasn't amazing. read more

We booked a October 11, 2024 function on Nov 25, 2023, and gave Spinelli's a $900 deposit. We subsequently cancelled this event on May 16, 2024 due to various medical reasons. Although Spinelli's did return $700 of the $900 deposit, they did not return the full deposit. This cancellation gave Spinelli's plenty of time to fill the slot (approx 5 months). We are very disappointed in how Spinelli's handled this refund. We are seniors living on Social Security, and I am a retired Viet Nam veteran. They give you attitude at the bar, food is below average, and they act like you're asking them to do something other than their JOB. As everybody knows during 2021 everything has gone up in price and you're paying a lot more for everything now. I went into Spinelli's yesterday to buy a cake for our family party later that evening. I asked for a large strawberry shortcake, and it is $34. This is what I've always paid. So when it came time to take it out of the box , everyone asked me why I got a small. we have been buying the same strawberry shortcake in a large size for the last 10 years for our events. Maybe it was a mistake that the woman grabbed a small size or maybe it wasn't? Maybe the large size cake has shrunk. Because that's what it seemed like to us last night.. We had a 50th Anniversary party At Spinelli's in Lynnfield on 6/17/22. The room was perfect, the staff warm and welcoming and the food was delicious! can't go wrong having your function here. Went to a nice function here (birthday party). They always do a decent job and offer a very nice location. The front of the building is a very busy route one. Behind the building is a very quiet lake with balcony views. It's nice just to focus on the back and relax. The food is usually decent and the service is good. Overall a solid option for birthday parties and other functions. Some parts of the menu might not be as good as other parts but they have many options including vegetarian ones. Overall if I needed a large facility for a birthday party I would consider Spinelli's. read more

I would give the Pasta and Pastry Shop 0 stars if possible. We ordered over $230 in food to bring to a relatives house due to a death in the family. We placed our order at 9:30 am to pick up after 3pm. I arrived to pick up my order and I am informed that they forgot to include the full tray of pizza we ordered, in addition to the several other trays of food we ordered. We needed food for 20-25 ppl and had ordered accordingly. The young woman who was waiting on me was so rude and arrogant it was unbelievable. She informed me 3x that "people make mistakes" and there was nothing she could do about the screw up with my order. When I told her that it was their mistake and that it was causing us a big inconvenience because I would not have enough food for the gathering, once again, she reiterated that "people make mistakes". When I requested that they prepare the tray of pizza and deliver it (the address for delivery is right up the street from Spinelli's in Lynnfield), she told they would not do that). She then told me that if it was a problem of not having enough food, I could order another tray of food. I told her that I should not have to spend more money because Spinelli's messed up my order. She said "oh well, those are your options", and once again, informed me that "people make mistakes". I told her that I would never order from Spinelli's again and that I found her attitude to be very rude. She then informed me that she was just a college student working there, and it wasn't her fault my order was screwed up. We experienced a death in the family and ordered food from Spinelli's, only to have our order screwed up and then to be treated rudely and arrogantly by the "college student" working behind the counter. As I was searching to hold a birthday party for April 30, for approximately 65. I was met with doubts and trepidation from many venues due to COVID restrictions. Spinelli staff was warm, welcoming and positive they could meet my needs so I was immediately confident I chose the right place. The event venue was so elegant and beautifully decorated with a breathtaking view of Suntaug Lake. I know it is located on busy Route 1 but in the back it is totally serene. We chose a hosted bar and passed hors d'oeuvres and a buffet dinner. I was almost too excited to eat but all the guests remarked on the extraordinary quality of the food. My family always chooses Spinellis for our celebration of life events. The sales staff did an exceptional job in taking every detail I requested and the staff executed it perfectly. I didn't have to ask for anything and nothing annoyed me which is a rarity. Everything was really buttoned up and looked so beautiful. I normally love Spinelli's but we ordered some trays on Christmas Eve (the ones that you take home/heat up) and our chicken, broccoli, Alfredo had the consistency of soup. It was evident after removing the lid that the pasta was just sitting in liquid. It was very messy and not enjoyable. Very disappointing... especially for Christmas dinner. I understand that things happen and every place has bad days... but the fact that someone prepared this and sent it out that way is extremely disheartening. I probably won't let this bad experience stop me from returning at some point... they're typically better than this and their food (and cannolis!) are usually great. read more

Well I am married and let me tell you Spinelli's was just amazing. Everyone raved about the food. I am still going to leave them at 4 stars because I think providing taste testing would ease a lot of peoples hestitations. But they are always booked, so it probably doesn't make sense for them to start offering this as everyone "KNOWS" how good they are. FYI...we did not go with the fondante frosting (we stayed with the buttercream) and we are so happy we did everyone LOVED the cake, sometime fondante frosting can taste weird although it may look a little better. I've been to Spinelli's on several occasions but just recently hosted my first event there. The venue is beautiful, the food is excellent and the cake was delicious! The bartender and staff assigned to us were all superb too! They made us feel like we were the only event taking place that day and we were not. I was a bit concerned about the room we were in because of an air wall but we heard absolutely no noise from the party next door. We had some minor issues with the connectivity to the sound system but it was our issue and the staff helped us resolve it. We had cheese and crackers, an antipasto, the deluxe buffet with stuffed tenderloin of beef (melted in your mouth), baked scrod, chicken parm, pasta and fresh vegetables. In addition, they catered very nicely to the vegan in our group. The food was beautiful displayed and everyone could not stop complimenting all of the yummy! We had ordered a Spinelli's specialty cake as well. It was not just delicious but gorgeous too! The only reason I did not give Spinelli's 5 stars is because of the planning process. Once I knew we wanted to book with Spinelli's I was required to come in during the day to review the contract and sign it in person. In addition, I was asked to come back in a second time to finalize all the details of the event even though I asked if I could these things via the phone and email. Went to the New Years Eve function and it definitely exceeded our expectations. We got there fairly late (had to work) but we were still accommodated to sit with friends and slight table re-arranging...with a smile. From the pleasant lady at the coat check to the hard working wait staff and amazing DJ, we had one of the BEST nights ever and will now forever be a wonderful memory for us all! It goes without saying that one of the best parts of the night was the FOOD selection which was very delicious and plentiful. Heavy on the appetizers, steak and shrimp meal was done to perfection and the after dinner desserts and snacks kept on coming. A special thank you to Beth for being so accommodating to my vegan friend by finding an eggplant meal as a substitute. Thanks to the DJ for not allowing a dull moment with his fabulous music selection for that night! We did leave a tip on top of the cost of the tickets but it was still a great price for all that we got. I hope that they have another party next year, I'll bring more friends for sure! read more

We ordered pastries for our parents 40th Anniversary. We have ordered many times over the years from their bakery with no problem. We sent me father to pick up the pastries on the day of the event. Upon arriving he received an order that didn't seem right larger than we expected. Because he didn't want to ruin someone else's day, he said, are you sure this is our order? To which they replied "yes"... not once.. but twice. He's not one to argue so, he left and brought the pastry to the place where the party was being held. Later, right before the party was about to start, they called and said we had someone else's order. They asked that WE bring them back. Problem was the pastries were already out and on trays. When we explained that 1) we could not bring them back at this point and 2) they had already been touched, they said ... and I quote .. "just bring us back what's left over tomorrow... ". First, this was their mistake not ours. I realize restaurants are in a tight spot lately, but we asked multiple times at pick up whether this was our order. Why do we have to rectify this by us bring this back. Second, why bring them back? Are they going to serve them to someone else? I hope not. Once food has been served, if it comes back, it must be thrown out. So that means they want me to drive a half hour with leftovers so they can throw it out? That's a waste of my time. Maybe if you weren't so quick to think your customers are always wrong, you wouldn't be in this position. This is beyond bad customer service. My family and I finally could have a service for my Dad, who passed away in April.....the service was beautiful at PURITAN LAWN CEMETERY.... directed by ODONNELL FUNERAL HOME in Salem and Danvers..... THANK YOU ANTHONY & Diane and staff..... Then we had a served luncheon at SPINELLI'S in PEABODY Ma..... which was INCREDIBLE!!!! During this time of COV19.... I was very nervous.... but we had An OUTSIDE SERVED LUNCHEON.... under the beautiful tent.... over looking the lake.....The food was delicious.... great portions.... as I'm fussy with a salad..... it was fresh and a good portion!!!! The chicken. Luncheon was delicious.... and dessert the famous strawberry shortcake!!! The tables were spaced.... no one rushed us as we had family from WESTERN PART of MASSACHUSETTS...., the restrooms were spotless!!!!! If you are thinking of having any event hosted at Spinelli's, think again! I had my wedding hosted at Spinelli's on 10/16/20 and it was nothing short of a disaster from start to finish. I was always an avid supporter of this function facility for many years, but would NEVER recommend nor support them ever again! To start, we were greeted with an extremely rude coordinator named Diane. Spinelli's should be ashamed at the staff they hire to coordinate wedding's, because she can immediately turn a pleasant event into a miserable one. Our floor plan that was established prior to the event was nothing what was at the wedding. Our cake was never on display, our card table was a cluttering mess, and she never orchestrated a smooth ceremony/reception. Diane the Drill Sargent was more concerned about arguing with guests and our immediate family members more then focusing on her job. Our reception was in the tent at Spinelli's and completely FLOODED! The tent clearly cannot support any type of rain. We had so much accumulation of water in the tent where all our guests were soaked, dresses/shoes were ruined. Our own guests were using squeegees to remove the water that was pouring in the tent, while Spinelli's staff members watched. This clearly wasn't their first rodeo as we live in New England and rain isn't a surprise. A guest actually fell due to slippery conditions from their poor preparation. Please, save yourself the money and aggravation unless you want to deal with unpleasant, uncoordinated, useless staff at your event and pray your tent is still standing at the end! What a disgrace, been a fan of Spinelli's for many years. At a wedding Friday afternoon 10/16/20 approximately 60 guests Spinelli's was not prepared to serve the public. If it didn't rain, I would still be a fan of Spinelli's wouldn't have noticed the defects. The rain showed the unpreparedness and defects creating a disgraceful business decision to put a tent outside without proper preparations. The tent was not connected to the main building by just a couple of feet. This caused the tent floor to be flooded due to terrible drainage and uneven surface. Most gowns, pants, shoes were soaked, possibly even destroyed. Because of the slight gap water was going into the main building causing treacherous, slippery conditions. Someone, maybe supervisor could have stepped up and tried to right this wrong. read more

This review is strictly regarding the Pastry Shoppe at Spinelli's in Lynnfield. My mom and I decided to order a birthday cake. We had never ordered a caked at Spinelli's and we figured the order was simple...small chocolate cake with chocolate frosting; we also requested that the flowers on the top be Tiffany blue. I went to Spinelli's to pick up the cake after the time it was supposed to be ready. We had to wait a few minutes because they had not done the writing yet. Mind you the cake looked beautiful with gorgeous flowing flowers; however it was clearly generic baby blue. Although I will admit I was not all that bent out of shape about the color of the cake. Upon cutting the cake we discovered that in between the layers, instead of chocolate frosting there was a chocolate boiled cream filling! Yuck! None of my guest ate the weird cream stuff, everyone picked around it. Now due to all the excitement of the birthday and the week I did not get a chance to call Spinelli's to express my dissatisfaction until a week later, but I felt that a store credit or partial refund was due. After all I am a new customer and an unhappy one at that. When I called the woman I spoke to was nice and explained to me that the default filling is the boiled cream on ALL their cakes unless otherwise specified. I told her that we were new customer and no where on the website does it say that. Also the person who took the order never told us that. The lady further told me that the owner would be giving me call back. When the owner called me he was very combative from the get-go. He told me that that's how they make the cake and basically too bad that no one liked it. He also stated that he wished I had called sooner because they threw out the slip and he wanted to see what the order said on it. Seriously? It had only been a week. I would think they should save documents for longer than that. He then tried to rush me off the phone without offering me something to make up for the bad experience. I had to ask and mention that the previous woman I spoke to told me I would be entitled to something. He reluctantly agreed to give me a $10 store credit. I felt like I was begging for nothing. I have since used the store credit for a mediocre spinach and cheese calzone that could have been cooked better...and a little chocolate pastry that unfortunately wasn't worth the calories. I thought I was going to have to sit in someone's lap to eat my dinner and stand every time another party either left or their table was cleared. Perhaps they were trying to make a mortgage payment? The Pastry shop isn't bad, a bit over priced, variety - maybe too much. I cannot tell if the read made food is left-overs from a function... who knows. My earlier experience at the Pastries section involved the young person who I thought was going to wait on me dashing out to talk on a cell phone, a clear lack of customer focused service. My order was filled with the wrong pastries and missing items that were paid for. I think some businesses try to ride to hard on their name without trying to establish or re-establish a clientele. I don't think the manager was too happy when I called back referring to their shop as "Romper Room"! This is for their pastry shop but it is the same food and cakes for functions. I have been going here for many years and never had any issues until about fourteen months ago. Since then all down hill from there. I have purchased trays of food for parties, take out for my family and I have ordered cakes for special occasions. Let's start with the food. One of our favorite dishes is the chicken Broccoli Alfredo one day I picked up a family size and the cream was so sour it smelled! I called the next day and they refunded me. Several months later again cream was bad they refunded me. I explained to the manager this was the second time and they are not rotating their products enough or they are keeping it way too long. Now the desserts! Last year I purchased a birthday cake for my mom and the entire inside was not what I ordered. It happened to be her last birthday cake ever. Thinking maybe it was an innocent mistake I continue to purchase cakes so a few months later I order a cake and my husband and son go to pick it up two hours after I tell them to have it ready. They get there and the cake was never made so they wait one hour for them to rush it. You would think I would have learned my lesson by now but they do make nice cakes. Four days ago I ordered a graduation cake for my daughter. We were having a surprise after graduation gathering at a restaurant. I spoke to the manager and we talked about what I wanted. My sister-in-law went to pick it up today and they lost the slip and the cake never got made! They rush the order and tell us they will deliver it to the restaurant. What a hot mess this cake was! It was supposed to have a smaller fake hat but instead they made a huge hat with fondant that was so big it looked foolish. The cake was supposed to be a very light tint of pink it was pink but it was a Pepto-Bismol pink! It was screaming pink! It was supposed to have black scroll on the sides but there was non. It was supposed to have her picture scanned onto it but no they handed me back the picture with the cake. We still had half of cake left over so we take it home. It did not survive the short ride home. The graduation hat was so damn heavy and the cake was so soft from being made so quickly that they never refrigerated it so it could get firm and set. Instead it was put into a car and rushed to the restaurant. So the ride home it completely fell apart! Basically it looked like we had a cake fight and threw it back in the box. I am so disappointed with the Pastry Shop and it is a shame because they do make good items. There is no organization at this place! Never again and I will make sure I let all my friends and family know. I would seriously reconsider having an event here. They use the same food. Buyer beware! My bridal shower was held at Spinelli's. I was not involved in planning the event, so my feedback is purely based on attending. However, I did get good feedback from the people who did plan the shower about working with the staff at Spinelli's, so there's that. Their function room is lovely for a lunchtime celebration. It features lots of windows to let in the sunlight. We were able to comfortably seat about 50-60 people at several tables and have plenty of room to circulate. They were also good about letting us bring our own decorations, centerpieces, etc. The room reminds me of a big formal living room at your great-aunt's house, minus the couches wrapped in plastic. The food was good, but not especially memorable in my opinion. In fact, I had to look at my photos to remember we had a brunch buffet with a custom omelet station. The culinary highlight was the cake, which they decorated with green shamrocks to match the theme my mother chose. Overall, I think Spinelli's is a solid choice to hold your event, particularly something less formal like a shower or a luncheon. I hesitate to give it an enthusiastic recommendation mainly because I tend to prefer places that have a strong identity, and to me Spinelli's is a bit generic. But the good thing about that is you can put your own stamp on the event without competing with the venue, I suppose. read more

We just had our wedding sept 3rd and I cannot say enough about this place. The food was excellent the ladies there are amazing in the office Brooke and Rhonda especially. Our cake was beautiful, the entire ceremony and reception was held here and it went perfectly, I couldn't be happier. I did the whole Package ceremony, food, cake, open bar, invitations, it was all excellent.
