Came today (Sunday on midday) and it was very sweet to find a calm place for my 1 year old as well as something that she enjoys for the first time watching other children play. My baby is very shy and she was able to play and make some very sweet little friends. In regards to parking it was very full but it only took me 2 rounds around the parking lot to find one. I can say that many people don't know how to park properly some were parked in double spaces. There are some handicapped parking in the front. For the mess around the park I did see some however I think that's more of the parents' job rather than the park maintenance itself. I look forward to visit this place soon read more

Definitely one of the best playgrounds we've ever been to! It's huge, and has things for all ages. Seesaws for 4 kids, a rolling conveyor belt, handicapped swings, pretend play areas, various slides, etc. It's mostly enclosed so feels safer with only one exit. This is a truly lovely and fun playground! So awesome that it's especially an inclusive place for kiddos of all abilities. We came on a Friday morning and Saturday afternoon, while many other families were also partaking in the fun, but there's lots of room and so many activities to check out that it didn't feel crowded. It is set off from the street with a large parking lot and restroom facilities. The play area has one non-gated point of entry/exit to the rest of the enclosed space. The space was clean and has rubber ground. At the time, the tube slide was closed off & some of the sticks to use on the xylophones were missing, but otherwise, the space seems really well maintained. There are structures, so many kinds of swings, different slides, balancing apparatuses, spinning apparatuses, monkey bars at different heights, multi-seat see-saw, musical instruments, little stage, rocking horses on springs, photo cut outs, climbing wall, rope climbing, beautiful mosaics, and more to see and do!!! Artistic touches and cute farm-themed details really added to the environment to make it feel more whimsical. Comfortable benches and seating are all over. Not much shade on a sunny day though. Though there is a green area with picnic tables located just outside, many people still blatantly disregard the signs posted saying no food or drink in the play area, which was annoying. Two dueling ice cream trucks were also in the parking lot and had music going which was obnoxious to me. Neither of these are actual dings against the park itself. read more

I love the concept so I made the drive with my 7 and 9 year old because I had read good reviews. It was disappointing as soon as we got there. It's dirty, run down, and the flooring has huge "pot holes" that you can easily trip on. The worst part is the SMELL!!! Smells like urine. We didn't last 30 min. Just gross. This one of our favorite playgrounds to stop at when making the driving between Northern and Southern California. There are so many slides, climbing structures, swings, musical instruments, and it's farm themed with barns and houses to go into.See saw, rolling pin conveyor belt (have the kids hold the top bars as mine jammed finger in the pin). This park is AMAZING. I am a playground snob, and found every aspect of this park to be entertaining, inclusive and just downright FUN for kids of any age. Children could literally spend a couple of hours here and not get bored. The equipment was well kept up, the restrooms were clean and well-stocked and overall it felt like a very safe place to let your kids play and get energy out. You know it's a great playground when the kiddos whine when it's time to go after already spending 90 minutes there. I think every town should have a park like this one. Parking is plentiful. Only drawback was it said no food in the playground and people were ignoring that rule, but that's on the people attending, not the playground itself. read more

This park is the best one in the town of Salinas in my opinion. It is behind Sherwood Garden area and is appropriate for all children including handicapped children. The apparatuses are in good condition still as well as the four bathrooms on site. If it is a hot day, there isn't too much shade unfortunately, but the ice cream truck lady who parks in front of the park helps out with hot days as long as she is there. The park is a good size for Salinas, with everything from slides, interactive areas, climbing areas, swinging areas, merry go rounds and the like. Plenty of space for kids to run free. It is not completely enclosed so if you have a small toddler you would not want to leave them unattended. We will definitely visit again. My kid loved it! read more

We adore this park! There is so much to do and my Grandchildren always find playmates. Tatum's Garden is thoughtfully designed to include children of all ages and capabilities. We are blessed to have this play area close to home. I recommend that you bring lunch and drinks since once you're here, it's hard to leave. read more

We came from out of town for the weekend with a 3 yr old. We came to visit the park because on the website it says it's open. We get and although it looks very clean and my 3 ur old is so excited. There is huge lock on the gate and it's closed. Very sad. Please update your hours. There was an old sign from Christmas it is now the end of March. read more

Really great park for all kids. Good quality materials and cute farm theme all throughout. I don't have issues with the park itself. The problem is the horrific smell of homeless, and urine and possibly feces in the park. It is really bad and I'm concerned of letting my toddler roll and run around. What a wonderful park for kids of all ages! This may be the best playground I have ever been to and I was excited to drive by on the way down from Norcal to Socal. If you need a place to stop with the kiddos during a long road trip up and down California, make this your pit stop! This playground has everything -- various types of slides, various types of swings, sensory play, various musical equipment, rock climbing, farm pretend-play-theme, etc... I had the pleasure of seeing Tatum's Garden during the final phase of work, before the grand opening, and can't possibly put into words how wonderful this park is for our community. This park is truly the BEST and most amazing park that I have ever seen, and it has a unique agricultural theme to reflect the heart of Salinas. The park is fully inclusive and accessible for wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, etc., and there are activity stations for children of all abilities. I cannot wait to take my two kids there play side by side with their friends. Tatum's Garden has something for everyone: a tot lot for the little kids, a quiet corner for grandparents or those with sensory issues, picnic benches, tactile displays, music stations, slides, ramps, bars, swings, see-saws, climbers, a sensory garden, and so much more, along with some of the most beautiful art that the Salinas Valley has to offer. Yes, my children are able bodied, but this playground is truly for ALL children and I am so proud to know that our town was able to build Tatum's Garden from the ground up. read more

As a mom of five who visits a fair share of playgrounds, I give this one 5 stars for its creativity in the activities and structures, the single entrance and exit, and the pathway/park area next to it for riding scooters or bikes. I would remove a star for the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the fact that only one of the 5 or 6 bathrooms has toilet paper. But really, I love that the bathrooms are located so closely to the playground, and my kids had a total blast. Definitely worth a visit!! read more

If you are on a road trip down the 101 with kids, this is a great fun, free stop to exercise those little legs. The whole thing is farm themed, so your kid can pretend to drive a tractor or operate a roadside vegetable stand. It has lots of slides and some musical instruments. Of particular note is the special area for the 5 and under set, which is pretty expansive. It doesn't have a gate that shuts, however, and it has corners around which you lose visibility, so it doesn't have that sought-after attribute of allowing Mom to supervise from a seated position. But maybe you won't mind if you've been sitting in a car for hours anyway. Only real mark against this unique, fun park is the limited amount of shade. So come prepared with sunscreen. read more

Best park ever! My kids and I love exploring parks. We had been traveling via car and cooped up in hotel rooms so I needed them to burn off some energy and googled a local park in Salinas. This place was amazing! So much space to run around. So many different areas to explore. Loved the squishy ground, so many swings and lots other things to climb on. Spinning things, musical things, and even a see-saw! They really thought of everything when they made this garden playground. My kids had a blast and said they wish we lived close to this one. It's absolutely great have been going there since I was a kid. Even though I'm a teenager now I still love taking my five year old brother there. So many things and most of the time there will be an Ice cream truck outside. It's also made to were handicapped people can still play on it with ramps, handicap swings, and some instruments. Not only this there multiple slides, swings, a rock wall, and an obstacle course. It's also separated into two parts one for the older kids and one for the younger kids. So many things to do and a place where you can put in books for the public to read. 10/10 would recommend. read more

WOW! Adorable, fun, creative, & beautiful space for kids to run around and be kids! I was shocked at how awesome this place was- plenty of free parking and creative games I've never seen at other parks. This place is super clean and full of art & color- they even have a take a book/leave a book box to promote literacy. I highly encourage you to pack a picnic or at least bring cool drinks because it gets really hot. There isn't any shade on the playground but there is shady grass areas next to the park. They also have restrooms and on the weekends, you best believe the local ice cream man (aka the paletero) will come by. Have kids? Must bring them! read more

Awesome park for kids and adults alike! I came with no high expectations thinking I will sit back and let the kids run around for a bit but when we all walked in I even caught myself getting excited running around with my kids to all the cool stuff they have to play with! It was perfect not packed at all for a Saturday afternoon. It was very clean and well taken cared for. It's up to code with all the safety features for small children. The rubber floor is way better than that wooding bark other parks use. They have tables to eat and a nice little grass area if you want to sit and have a picnic. The park is beautiful and the rubber ground has been a big plus for me, because babies are clumsy and fall. I highly recommend this park! Awesome playground. My 20 month old loves it! Even has bathrooms and changing tables! The only thing is when we went on a Monday morning the park had a lot of trash from snacks all around. I had to pick up trash so my son wouldn't try and play with it. I'm sad that parents aren't picking up after their children. There's also a sign that says no food allowed and so it seems people are not following the rules. read more

Gorgeous and unique park, anyone who does not know about this park should read about the history. A lot of heart and love went into this park, the community of Salinas really worked together to raise the funds needed to build and maintain this park. I know Salinas gets a bad reputation for being a crappy city, but this park is a testament to the good in Salinas. The agriculture theme is really cool and reflects Salinas well. My kids love to play here and there are lots of cool things for the kids to play on. They have areas where children can make music with chimes and some cool shaky bridges, lots of slides, monkey bars, and plenty of swings to boot! It's definitely not your typical park. The playground is fully enclosed and there is just one entrance in and out and quite a bit of benches throughout the park. The only thing that I worried about a bit and it will take a little getting use to is that if you're following your toddler, it is easy to lose them once they slide down the slide (if you're on the playground equipment with them) since usual playground equipment, you can see them through the planks or flooring once they slide down the slide, but since this place is fully accessible, once they slide down, it's harder to keep your eyes on them since the flooring is solid. It took a little getting use to. read more

This was a nice park but my last two trips were a nightmare. Park smells funky and is starting to get dirty by all the careless people leaving trash on floor. Last two visits have been infested with flies. Literally hundreds of them around. By one swing I counted 16 flies and that's just on one seat of swing. I dislike flies and will not tolerate it if they are around me . Not a great park at all. Won't be coming any time soon. read more
