    Dessert choices.

We enjoyed dinner at this restaurant located on the opposite end from all the tourist spots. We desired seafood so my wife had the Halibut and I enjoyed the Ahi Tuna with mango. Both dishes were good. But tables nearby were ordering a veal dinner that is partially cooked, that you finish cooking at your table. Evidently, this restaurant is known for their meat dishes. The desert choices com to your table in shot glasses. You are only charged for what you eat. As a side note, there is a device on your table that allows you to reach your waiter by pressing a button that notifies their watches. Also, check out the self cleaning toilets. Very clever for those that don't lift the toilet seat.

Really swanky place w good portions and very flavorful food. Friend ordered fish soup and clams & I had the succulent squid w potatoes. Prices are great too. Pls don't overdo w bread selection.

Cod on a bed of mashed chick peas, with onions, and spinach, all dressed in Portuguese olive oil.

I'm not even a huge fan of cod, but this meal was incredible and the best cod I've ever eaten. Mashed chick peas, onions, spinach, all dressed in Portuguese olive oil. Even my husband liked it (and he HATES fish). Service was great and friendly, and the view was fantastic (indoor and outdoor seating, right across from the ocean). I enjoyed my meal with a glass of cold vinho verde. Though we did not have cocktails, the table outside did and it was great watching their mixologists put everything together for them, table side! HIGHLY recommend!

Clams in nice herb sauce. Clam, sip wine and repeat :-)

I figure I should really finish them before they become *hopelessly* obsolete. This place was very much on my list, as I'd heard great things. I will say, I definitely do recommend adding Coimbra to your trip if you're going between Porto and Lisbon, the food here is great (other than one hole in the wall sandwich shop that gave us food poisoning :p.) Granted, this feels like the sort of place where the menu might change completely in 6 months, but if any of it is still there, or regardless, as a feel for the overall quality (i.e. mostly great; slightly inconsistently so). Between the two of us, we tried: The soup of the day - excellent (though, granted, probably not the same soup you'll get if you're there, if it's a "soup of the day"). Bread to go with the soup (has to be ordered separately, but inexpensively so) - also great. A duck croquette appetizer - good but skippable. Not a lot for the price, and the duck was rather drowned out by the sauces (great sauces though). Duck rice... was just ok. Wasn't a lot of duck in it - it was mostly just... rice? Very skippable. Beef cheek stew, omg. If this is still on the menu, don't skip it. A little price for the size, but unlike the other bowl, hearty, filling, and just wonderfully tasty. Also just love how much less of a markup there is Portugal on wine, where a glass of house rose of this quality for the equivalent of 4 euro would be near unheard-of. The food may have been a little pricey, but that was a great glass of wine, for 4 euros.

The sangria (by the glass or in a clay jug) is a must.  We went all in as a group of four diners, ordering the sardine sandwich (incredibly fresh and layered with flavor), fried fish, octopus, scrumptious pig cheeks, and the most delicious chicken wings. Honestly, I could've skipped the steak sandwich, but everything else was outstanding. Didn't make it to dessert, but the plates we saw heading to other tables looked good. Even the bathroom adds to the experience, decorated like a home, complete with fake hanging "laundry". We walked in during a busy lunch time on a weekend day. Indoor and outdoor seating is available depending on the weather.

The octopus and pork cheeks were served similarly with fried onions on top. Both were tender. My favorite was the fried cuttlefish with ink aioli. We also ordered mushrooms with roasted vegetables. We were quite full afterwards. Upon leaving, we noticed a line outside. It's definitely a popular place.
