Stuffed Mushrooms Crispy Shrimp Burgers Fries Shrimp Salad Beer The board they start you off with had olives, what I believe was sardine pate, bread and of course garlic butter, insert yum here. The service, beyond fabulous, we were greeted and seated with care, and our wait staff was personable and professional, all at the same time. The view, awesome, window seat water wonderful. My wife and I popped in for dinner on a Thursday night around 730pm without a reservation. But being early October, it was not an issue as we had our pick of several tables. The restaurant is towards the south end of town on the beach about a 10 minute walk from our more central hotel. The menu is a one pager but with a wide selection of tapas and meats. It has pages in multiple languages but we found the friendly Union Jack one. We both ended up having rib steak prepared two different styles. My wife's was grilled and came with a mixed greens salad while mine was steakhouse style with gravy and a garlic clove. Next time I would go grilled style which is more what I am used to. As to the temperature, they seemed to be one step lower than what I am used with my medium rare being rare and my wife's medium being medium rare. The meat itself was not as lean as I would have liked and a sharper knife would have helped. To go with everything thing we had a bottle of Portuguese red wine. You select your wine using an iPad with an almost overloading too many selections almost all Portuguese. I just flipped to the top picks section and chose from one of the ten bottles there. It was a nice selection that we polished off by the end of the evening. Service was fine all evening and using English was no problem. Minus the price of the wine bottle, dinner was no more expensive than any other evening in town. I did see two tables order the steak in an iron skillet (I think that's what is was called). Here they sear your steak in the kitchen and then bring a hot iron skillet to your table for you to finish it the way you like. I'd give that a try on another visit. read more

We enjoyed dinner at this restaurant located on the opposite end from all the tourist spots. We desired seafood so my wife had the Halibut and I enjoyed the Ahi Tuna with mango. Both dishes were good. But tables nearby were ordering a veal dinner that is partially cooked, that you finish cooking at your table. Evidently, this restaurant is known for their meat dishes. The desert choices com to your table in shot glasses. You are only charged for what you eat. As a side note, there is a device on your table that allows you to reach your waiter by pressing a button that notifies their watches. Also, check out the self cleaning toilets. Very clever for those that don't lift the toilet seat. read more

During our trip to Portugal, we ate seafood ten times. I had Octopus eight times. This was one of the worst selections. Both the Octopus and Cod were overcooked. The atmosphere was good and the location was right on the beach, which explained the high pricing relative to their competitors. read more

We had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner here on our first night in Nazaré. We both started out with the vegetable soup -- smooth, tasty, warming on an evening with a bit of a chill. My partner had the mushroom risotto, and I ventured out and ordered the tuna steak prepared with a fried egg on top. The flavors were were smooth and satisfying, with a comforting elegance. For dessert, they bring a tray of small servings. I had chocolate mousse, just the right size to round out the dinner. Apps were good to very good...wine list is nice...mains were good to very good. Everything was very "efficient" the staff could have been more friendly. Not rude, not inattentive to is just glum. I'm not even a huge fan of cod, but this meal was incredible and the best cod I've ever eaten. Mashed chick peas, onions, spinach, all dressed in Portuguese olive oil. Even my husband liked it (and he HATES fish). Service was great and friendly, and the view was fantastic (indoor and outdoor seating, right across from the ocean). I enjoyed my meal with a glass of cold vinho verde. Though we did not have cocktails, the table outside did and it was great watching their mixologists put everything together for them, table side! I cannot rave enough about this place- the best meal I have had in Portugal so far- definitely a quality vs quantity dining experience in a sleepy, slightly tacky beach town- I think I will be quite happy to eat here every night I am in town- like the tacky American at 7pm- the grilled octopus was absolute perfection. I can't wait to try more of the menu. read more
