Excellent work! Professional service and super good vibe!…read moreHad so much fun today and my haircut was awesome

Milvali salon feels more like a assembly line chop shop vs high end salon experience. I've had two…read moreservices here and both fell short. I had a haircut here, which I ended up waiting for the stylist for over an hour. When she finally saw me she said it was bc some scraggly haired woman with her extensions came in last minute demanding she fix her hair, and so she spent hours re bonding (or whatever the term is?) the hair. I'm not trying to be mean here, but the woman had very fine blonde hair that was bob length and got hair down to her waist. My aside here is ...ladies...can we just love what we have and maybe do any enhancements in moderation instead of totally going overboard with the extensions down to our tushies?! And, yes, I was rightfully upset bc I had an appt and this woman did not, yet I had to wait for my scheduled service?? Totally doesn't make sense. The kicker was when I told the stylist she should have rescheduled me if she was going to be so late, and her response was that she didn't want to lose another customer that day. Welp, she definitely lost me as a customer, because I'd never go back to her. The cut was okay but overall a mind boggling experience and a waste of my time. The other experience I had was getting a facial from an aesthetician. I specifically let her know I didn't want any animal tested or animal products on my skin. And yet, she slapped collagen on my face (and it wasn't marine collagen). She also didn't do any arm or neck massage, which is odd because with all the facials I've had at other places, I've always had a light massage while a mask is on my face. When I asked about the massage, the aesthetician said she leaves the room while my mask is on vs doing a massage. Additionally, she kept using the term "anti-aging", despite me sharing that I'm not against what natural process happens to us all, and I don't like language that makes us hate a natural process. I think (especially in a spa or salon setting) there are far more positive terms we can use to describe caring for our skin. Rejuvenating, refreshing, aging with grace, naturally enhancing...sounds far more from a place of love and acceptance for ourselves than "anti-aging". From both of these less than par experiences, my take away was that I was in a low caliber salon, and not a specialized, leveled up establishment. It's been a year and I haven't returned, nor would I recommend this place to others.

She was…read morefantastic, talking me through lots of options for color, including highlights, low lights, full color, roots, gloss, different blends etc. She very respectfully directed me away from the color I originally thought I wanted, explaining to me why it wouldn't actually look good with my skin tone and would be difficult to maintain. She mixed a custom color just for me and I have gotten non-stop compliments since!! Then I got my makeup done with Shayna since I was going to get new headshots taken. Shayna did an outstanding job with my makeup, asking to see photos and info about the photographer before starting to make sure the end result would be perfect. She really listened to my preferences, including being extra careful with my eyes since I wear contacts and choosing only the best products for sensitive skin. The makeup looked gorgeous and the photographer said she wants to send everyone to Shayna before headshots :)

For the highlights my only ask to the stylist was to do it in a way that would look good when my hair grew out. I'm currently pregnant and knew I wouldn't be able to go back for a touch up for some time. Two months after I got the highlights I had noticed it was growing in very blocky. A few coworkers pointed it out and encouraged me to reach back out to the salon to touch it up. They reminded me that it was not worth what I paid and I should get it fixed. I emailed the salon and their response was they could book me a touch up appointment with no discount. That because we were out of the one week window they were not willing to do anything. Very disappointed! I was hoping to be a long term client.

I can bring concepts of an idea to him, and he's able to bring whatever I envision into fruition. His salon is absolutely immaculate; Clean, well-designed, and well-appointed. On top of this, Nick maintains a friendly, professional, and approachable attitude. The results are tangible. A full selection of Oribe products are also available to purchase. For some further context, I have fuller, thick hair. For many years, I had a go-to style that I could describe to most any barber. Your average, low-taper fade, side part that everyone was rocking. I watched prices slowly creep at every barber I went to with wild variations in quality and satisfaction. No one had any insight nor creativity in their craft. I felt stuck and bored. So, I let my hair grow out to a point where I didn't know what to do with it and had no idea where to go. I don't remember exactly how I settled on giving Nick a try, but I'm glad I did. If you need some direction, Nick can provide.

I came in to fix my roots and add highlights and ended up with uneven highlights looking like 90s stripes, a reddish dark root color that I refused to pay for as even the stylist agreed the result wasn't acceptable. She ended up offering a free touch up session to fix the roots, which I would have appreciated; had I trusted it would be fixable. Overall the salon vibe was awkward and cold, the stylist don't greet you or converse with each other which was new to me. It wasn't busy when I got there but I've never experienced anything like this in terms of unwelcoming atmosphere. It was my first time at the salon and I was the second client walking in, yet nobody said "Hi!" Or asked when my appointment was. It also felt strange paying by personal Venmo, but that may just be me being used to getting a receipt.
