They're sloppy and un trust worthy. And they have no shame. They will with hold ur money. Renard was horrible. Just horrible. And chuck the "ceo" is terrible. Never answers the phone. Never gets to the root of a problem. And has no knowledge of running a business. I filed back in February and have not been able to get a hold of anybody in that office. Ive been filing with them since 2018 but when MOYA was there. She took care of business and was on point. I will not be filing here ever again MOYA started her own tax firm and I will be taking my business along with her. Please do not trust tax box refund. They're literally horrible. read more

DO NOT TRUST TAXBOX REFUND - SCAM ALERT I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with TaxBox Refund, and I feel obligated to warn others before they make the same mistake I did. When I first walked in, Chuck, the owner, came off as very confident and reassuring. He made it seem like I was in good hands and promised a solid return. Unfortunately, that was nothing more than a front. After filing, I was told everything was processed and I'd be receiving both my federal and state tax returns. Weeks passed, and I received only the federal portion. The state refund never came. I tried calling multiple times--no answer. I stopped by the office several times--Chuck was never there. His staff was incredibly unhelpful, always giving me vague answers like, "We're not sure when he'll be back," or "You'll have to speak to Chuck about that." But Chuck was nowhere to be found and made absolutely no effort to return calls or follow up. At this point, it's clear to me this business is running a scam. Once they get what they want from you, they ghost you completely. There's no accountability, no transparency, and definitely no professionalism. It's unacceptable, and I'm shocked this place is still operating. Avoid TaxBox Refund at all costs. Don't let Chuck's fake charm fool you--he is not trustworthy, and this business is not legitimate. You deserve better than to be lied to, ignored, and left chasing your own money. read more

If you are filing with this company, pay close attention to what you are signing. They WILL NOT disclose to you exactly how much they're garnishing from your refund or if they do tell you.. make sure you verify before signing. He told me the filing fee was $200, it was my fault for trusting Chuck and signing everything without verifying first. read more

Look I don't know who yall thought I was but yall stole over $1200 from my 2021 taxes and NEVER sent NOT 1 document yet I've called that place a number of times in the last 30 days and keep getting the run around and or I've been hung up on so many times i stop counting. Last week I went online in my tax transcript and Casanova Nwokobia Lies and told me my refund WAS over 1200 shorter then what my transcript stated. After looking up this jerk location and behold I'm not the only one. These reviews Are being flooded to mask 2022 reviews. Don't go this way at all!!!! read more

It's all a show, they make you feel welcomed like your important. It's all phony!!! Especially Chuck!!! Pretending to be so charismatic. LIES ALL LIES!!!! I hope karma catches up. Honestly I'm dumb founded for going to them to file. I did my taxes for 2021,2022, and 2023. I never received my refund $$$ for year 21 and 22. I didn't pay no mind because I knew I owed to IRS, however IRS is saying they were never filed. I just recently found this out. When 2023 came time to file I received half of my refund. TaxBox employee are playing a scam, Stole half of my return of 3550 charged me a tax preparation fee of 1500 and other charges like processing refund, additional deposit fees, a document preparation fee, another processing fee, and lastly for using a software. I've learned my lesson for being gullible with these people that don't know what they're doing, young adults in training and we're the guinea pigs for their THIEVERY. It takes forever to file just sitting there for over two hours and then they chat you up about going into business with them and invest$$$. What type of crap is that. After experiencing this I hope you don't end up getting fooled by this people and taking advantage of you. I'm a single mother and work hard for my $$$, unlike the people at TaxBox. I would best advice you do learn to do your own taxes. If I could give this place a negative star rating I would. read more

Run from this place. I made my taxes with them, and they took $1000 without telling me. They are shisters and tricksters. Never went back

Not coming back. I paid for 2020 and 2021 Got a letter from IRS that I never did my taxes for 2020 When I got charged for hundreds of dollars to do my taxes for both years with them. Had a zoom meeting today to finally resolve this matter and I called twice for the zoom meeting no one answered. I called the office and hopefully someone will call me today like they said they will. I'm never coming back here again. Plus they keep sending you stuff to upload documents online??? Why are we paying you for if we have to do all that? Never had to do that before. read more

This place is horrible. Filed 1/31. The preparer entered my bank account information wrong so it couldn't get direct deposited. Got a call 3/19 that they had my check and was mailing it out. From 3/19 til today, I have been told not only has it not been mailed out, but they had to reprint it. You would be a fool to file with them. I rather not get much back and just file with Turbo Tax from now on. I always use my tax return to take my kids to Disney. And because of this horrible establishment we will have to miss out for the first time in 6 years while the rest of the family is leaving this Friday. Haven't broke it to the kids yet, was just really hoping this place would get their sh** together. read more

Truly amazing! I have been filing my taxes with them for over 3 years and the service has been the best. DO NOT GO HERE. You will never receive any communication after you file. They charge about $100 in hidden fees ON TOP OF CHARGING $400 for 1 W2 and then they charge you another $200 for "IRS PROTECTION" which they basically force you to sign up for. So about $700 in total only for them to 1. Never call you back 2. Have rude staff I made the mistake of wanting to support this business because of what they put out on social media but it's all a fake. They do not care about their community. They care about taking your $700 and never talking to you again. Until next year. I made the mistake of not going on here and reading the reviews before going to them. read more

They're mailbox always full I can't get an answer I scheduled an appt no call back this was my 1st year filing with them. Not a good experience. They ended up having to ammend my refund. I still haven't got it and no one will answer either of the listed numbers. It was amended in March and still waiting. And can't get taxbox on phone to fix it. read more

Emailed w2 only for the front office to call me back stating I owe taxes. I asked for a tax preparer to contact me as they are the professional. I received another call back from front office stating usually if you owe the tax preparer doesn't call until you give the ok for them to complete your taxes. This is unprofessional as how do I know that everything was entered correctly without speaking to a professional. I didn't like the service. I need 1 on 1 with a tax professional. I went elsewhere, come to find out I didn't owe, in fact I received money back. From the start I only dealt with the tax preparer now that's great customer service. read more

I was scheduled a consult with this company and they tried having me email a picture of my ID and copies of my w2 without telling me how much I could expect to pay and an estimate on how much they could get me on a return and based on the reviews I had seen on here I felt very alarmed by that and then eventually chuck just ignored my requests which just confirmed they are looking for easy targets when they can't even answer some Basic questions read more

Honestly worst place to do your taxes I honestly forgot to place a review here but everything turned out fine at first the guy that helped me said oh look we're going to give you 100 for coming to us to do your taxes which i never got. On top of that i never got any documents or anything saying i did my taxes! And i went back to get a copy of my tax forms and they wanted to charge me 100 just to get my tax forms never even heard of a company doing that when they never even sent me any copies of my tax forms. Will never ever return here ever!!! read more

Where do I start ...... horrible customer service from the phone reps. Takes days to receive a call back , no phone rep wants to answer the simple question of how a call back works. Initially filed taxes virtually by sending my documents via email ... not sent a protected link btw never heard back from the agent Danel. that was to work on my taxes. Ended up walking in office and was assisted by Moya who seemed to be sweet , helpful and knowledgeable and the only reason for the two stars on that day 2/17. Spoke to someone today 3/4 as I filed the 17th of February I decided after a week to check the status on the irs website. I continue to get an error message stating the information doesn't match. I called in and I was told it takes a while for new customers ... completely a lie because I have used others tax preparers prior to this one and never does that happen !!! I knew it wasn't true ... just received a call from a Linda not Moya as I requested and the taxes weren't submitted.... I , like others wished to support a black owned business but this is truly unacceptable and disgusting service !!! After reading reviews I wish I had done so prior to using them. I also wish they would steal I have TIME TODAY NOW AND FOREVER... I'm sorry if that truly happened to others ! read more

I am so disappointed with this place! I came here in hopes that they could help me receive the most and that they would be professional. I felt severely pressured to do my return with them when I got there after they told me that their fees were $400 to file. I have never paid that much ever filing for my taxes! I feel like they didn't thoroughly do their job and I feel like I have been robbed. I have looked forward to getting ahead on my bills but I didn't get as much as I could've. I am seriously so frustrated because reading these reviews I'm not the only one. I am missing $4000 from my tax return. I have two small children I have to support and I feel like I have been violated. How do you guys feel the right to do this to poor people? People who are barely scraping by. I am so saddened. I will never return here! read more

I highly advise to not use this company. I wanted to support a black owned business but didn't expect them to scam me. Their fees alone was $400 to do a simple W2 tax refund. Then added on $200 of secret charges that I later found out. When I tried to ask why ... no answers. Now I'm going back and forth with the IRS. Please do not use this company. A huge scam!! Also my tax preparer Maria ? Wasn't the best. Avoid her. read more

Miss leading. Honestly thought it was a great place untill I seen what I signed. They charge u for extra fees. Over 700 taken away from me. Someone who's living paycheck after paycheck those 700 could help me big. I didn't make alot for them to charge me that much lol. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here. I found this place thru instagram. The gentlemen told me if I did file with them it would be as low as 200? Which I thought it was fine untill I seen I got charge over 700! Like who charges that much, he's basically MISS LEADING PEOPLE ON! Will not come back next year. read more

Been doing my taxes with Tax Box Refund for some years now. Very professional over the phone, email and also in person. Everyone staff is friendly especially Chuck. I was able to get my refund this year after the IRS only tried to give me a small portion. Tax Box Refund was able to assist me in calling to fix the paper work that the IRS needed. It does costs around $500- $1000 to file with them so consider that when filing but know that you're in great hands. Nice to work with a Black Owned tax company that practices good costumer service and provides great communication. Thank you Tax Box Refund! read more

When it comes to filing taxes, there r two things people r looking for ... 1. Great customer service. 2. Good returns. I called the number from the Instagram Post to make sure I was getting back the most and I to make sure I won't owe this year. We spoke for about 20 minutes and Chuck asked me several questions. I felt relieved because he was so knowledgeable. He was giving me information on saving, budgeting, how to save more on taxes. It was free and he didn't pressure me about filing taxes at their office.  Eventually I ended up doing my taxes and was moreee than pleased. Customer service was even better in person and I got a great refund. And most importantly, the IRS ain't bugging me. WIN WIN!! read more

My friend brought me to their Credit Repair Workshop. I am trying to get an apartment and move out so I really needed help with my credit. I knew the basics like pay bills on time, but they showed me more. Like how to write a letter and get a negative mark taken off. I have a script I can use when I call my collectors so they can reduce the amounts I owe. My friend did her taxes and the only way she got to attend is because she signed up for all their services. Plus she got a referral fee of a $100 because i ended up doing my taxes too. And they have helped both of us since tax season improve our credit. Awesome service and they really care about their clients!! read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! 1st of all one of their student representatives told me that I would get my taxes done for free and get a $100 check as well for going to Tax Box to get my taxes done there. Now I know it sounded too good to be true but I go in anyway. When I ask them how much it was going to cost before they did them, they said they couldn't answer me and it's based on my taxes Then I asked what if it's too much and I don't wanna pay for it the person named Mike told me we could discuss that and come to an agreement after it's done. After Mike finished my taxes, He then told me I had to pay $400 to get my taxes done. That was more than half of what I was going to get back. And he didn't want to budge on the price. Then I talk to a manager I got the price reduced a tiny and I was willing to pay it so I did. Mike then told me I was going get a copy of my taxes in in email along with the bill, 4 days later I still haven't received any email and Mike is not returning my calls! I dont even think he put them in! Where is my email Mike? Update to last review....I don't know how they did it but they got even worse! When I asked for a copy of last year's taxes they told me I HAD TO PAY $100 to get what's mine!! I WISH I NEVER STEPPED INSIDE THIS PLACE!!! read more

Had an appointment with Chuck but was placed with his associate Harry, which I have no complaints at all. He was knowledgeable , informative and friendly. Normally doing taxes it can be grueling and nerve wrecking, however the process with him was enjoyable and a pleasant learning process. Worst tax customer service experience. First, I made an appointment the day before with Moya for 11a sharp the next day Sat. Morning. I got there at 11a, she wasn't there, and of course with an appointment made, I was expecting to be helped right away or at least within the first 10 min. But no. I waited 15 min before the lady got up to tell me to sign a form. BE COMMUNICATIVE! That should be the first thing you should address the guest when they walk in! Not even that, I finally sat down to be helped at 11:40a just to have a 10 min conversation with Chuk saying he can't do my paperwork because I need certain documents that prove my online business's account transactions, when I've already had an accountant go through all that. As a person who works a lot and barely has time to get errands done, having my time wasted like this gets me real conflicted. Never coming here again. read more

Found out about TaxBox Refund through their sponsored post on Instagram. I messaged them about a free quote and they got back to me within a few minutes. That same night they called me and pressured me about going through with filing for taxes through them. I told them I needed some time to think and they were very pushy and reluctant to give me that time, but they did finally oblige. A few days later I called them and let them know I'd like to file taxes through them. They sent me the documents to fill out and then stated that they'd be filing that same day. However, they didn't actually file my taxes that same day, or at all for that matter. I reached out to them a few times and they just always gave me the run around, told me they'd call me but never did. The CEO himself was always posting pictures of himself on his Instagram, so I reached out to him. He seemed helpful at first, but all he always told me is that they'd call, but they either wouldn't, or they'd call to tell me they'd be calling me back another day, to which they never did. Eventually, the CEO himself started making excuses, telling me he wasn't the one running his own account, even though the account had nothing but stories and pictures of him. He would read my messages but not respond to me, but he was able to post stories about him "working." I ended up finding out over a month later that they never filed my taxes, and I only found out because I told them not to file my taxes and that I'd be going elsewhere. Overall, I had a horrible horrible experience, and I would not recommend them to absolutely anyone. Go somewhere else. read more
