Then we shopped and took a taxi back to the ship. The taxi's company name was Na Koeriersdienst. When we arrived at the ship, I gave the driver my credit card and asked for a receipt. He replied he couldn't give me one. My assumption was that his card reader couldnt print one. When we boarded our ship, I logged into my credit card website and saw that he had charged me $330.39 for a ride that was maybe 15-20 long. I called my credit card company and after disputing the charge and providing receipts that were time stamped that showed our movements off the ship, as well as a map showing our route walked, our credit card company said that because I could not provide a receipt, there was nothing they could do. When my credit card company contacted the taxi company about the dispute, they provided a receipt with a squiggle for a signature and claimed I had put a PIN in. The driver also claimed I had contracted for a "two hour tour of Amsterdam." I also tried emailing the taxi company and they never responded. So my lesson learned is to ask when I get in a taxi if they're able to provide a receipt and also to take a picture of the driver's license plate. This was very obviously an American in another country being taken advantage of!

Thats long (Haarlem/Schiphol) and short (Gebroeders Hartering) So this one is for the telephone service and the app and the over all non-exciting non-existing service. Yes my fellow backseat lovers: the service sucks. I've had several real problems with them, big problems. From a woman screaming at me, to non believers (i had a taxi driver touch me on my knee ones...holding on to my bag...demanding me to "pay up") and not willing to give me the taxi drivers car number. Yes. Well, I stopped him on the road, so they are not to blame/help/what ever. Also... Had a taxi driver "kick me out" because I was too drunk. I was 4 months pregnant!! I wish I was drunk!! Yes, I asked him not to talk on the phone while driving...sorry, but he was not really in control and took two wrong turns while telling his girlfriend that she should shut her trap and wait for him. Euhm... Euh. Hè? And than...it's raining cats and dogs: the app is not working...again...and you ring the lovely ladies (and one man) and all is dry within 5 minutes. I mean. They got monopoly, so they really got monopoly. Can't live without them, wish I could.. I can't. Tip? Collect about 4 or 5 drivers that you like, trust and stick to them. That's what we do. Ton, the old geezer, is my go-to every time. Than it's Hussein. Of course Michiel if it's the night and Egon for the fancy business crap. Yes, Mohammed when we need a van. They know us, we trust them. Tip them, send our kids, sometimes packages or take our own coffee mugs with us...and they take it home, leaving is on our doorstep. But ...this is a review on the "Telefoon Centrale."

Most of the experiences we had here were solid, with the exception of going through immigration…read moreupon arrival. The KLM Crown Lounge was spacious and well-appointed. We did have to wander around quite a bit to find the bar that contained liquor, but we were persistent! Airport was clean and all employees we encountered were pleasant. We waited about an hour and a half in a very hot line to clear immigration. None of the self-service kiosks were open. When the Schengen line was totally clear, I hoped they would start taking people from our line; no such luck. The gentleman who helped us was nice, but it took way too long to get to him. It is very convenient that the train station is right there in the airport, though I wish the platform system was made a bit more clear no the kiosks when buying tickets. For those of us who don't have this type of transit in our home cities (Los Angeles), it made transportation tough. In fact, we got on the wrong train and what should have been a 15 minute ride from Schiphol to Centraal became an hour-long detour in the broiling heat.
