I'd often have to ask a question two or three times to get a complete answer. I have an accounting/finance background and know what I am asking. In the second year, I asked them if they could handle the bookkeeping for my business and they accepted the responsibility. They claimed knowledge of the nuances of my business but it soon became apparent that they did not know anything about it. Then one fine day, they charged me $2100 for the bookkeeping (w/o a detailed invoice) and when I objected, they hurriedly gave me a $1400 discount. As soon as the check cleared, they sent me an email that they do not want to work with me anymore. No courtesy call, no explanation. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I found an accounting practice that actually knows accounting and more importantly, exudes humility and professionalism.

She never disclosed rates, fees, or any general costs associated with my spouse or me, then said "we wont know the total until it's all said and done." After weeks of Christine "double amd triple checking" her work at my cost (which still needed my attention to detail to catch HER ERRORS), and re-creating my entire tax return (which was a burden of her system, not in my control), they charged us $1200 for an amendment. I was pressured to pay, never given an itemized bill, and was given an "it is what it is" attitude. After paying to get my amendment filed, I disputed the charge with my bank for being overcharged for services rendered. I just received a check from the IRS because the crooks rescinded the amendment out of spite. Luckily, I have my copy of everything they did so I can simply recreate the forms and mail them out with a fresh check. If you need a tax preparation service, youd be better off with a chicken pecking at a keyboard while on the TurboTax website than to ever trust Christine Caperton to touch your documents. ​
