Our room was large and comfortable with a great view of the harbour. The restaurant serves a classic Scottish breakfast, and the dinners (menu changes daily: we stayed 3 nights) showcase the local seafood and meat. The food was very good. There is a modernised but not antiseptic bar and a very comfortable residents' lounge. Service throughout was excellent. It is not cheap, but good value for money if you want to push the boat out a bit for a special break away.

Two Nights in the self-catering apartment…read more We spent two nights in one of the self-catering apartments right next to the Hotel and Restaurant. It has two floors with the kitchen / toilet / living room on the 1st floor and the bedroom with great bathtub und the 2nd floor. French doors are leading from the living room the the lovely balcony with fantastic Loch Views. Check-In was quick and easy and parking is right in front of the apartment. The living room is cozy and the bed fantastic, a great sleep. The kitchen is a bit on the older side, only two plates were working (it's ok, we only needed two). Besides that we were very happy about it. Heater works fine, if it gets a bit colder. On one day it was misty, cold and rainy. The views of the Loch were very atmospheric in this typical scottish weather. The next day it was fully sunny and the Loch looked much different. Bright blue and so calm. Can't say which one looked better...both equally amazing. Location of this Hotel is just perfect, so quiet. It also has a great Restaurant attached to with good food for fair prices. Boats can be rented too. We strolled around the shore a bit, which was nice too....especially for our doggy (the apartments are dog-friendly). If you need to shop or do some sight-seeing away from the Loch, then Inveraray is a good place to do so. The road leading to the Hotel is one-way for about 4 miles. But not really much traffic and the few encouters with other cars were fine, people drive reasonable here. A really lovely stay. Great location. The Loch is fantastic, amazing there aren't more tourists yet. But that's also a good thing, a still pretty much untouched Loch in Scotland.

We were in the area for the Loch Fyne Food Fair and it was handy travel wise. We had a very warm welcome from the owners Jenifer and Alastair who are the friendliest people you will meet. The house itself is an elegant Victorian country house with pretty gardens that you can sit outside in, although the weather wouldn't allow it this time. There are splendid views over Loch Fyne to Inverary. Our room was at the front of the house and had a magnificent 4-poster bed and was immaculately decorated. The bathroom was modern and spotless. There is an inviting drawing room that you can use with a fire and glasses for you to have a drink. The breakfast was delicious and we were offered recommendations for restaurants which Jenifer booked for us. The guest house is near to Loch Fyne Oyster Bar and Inverary for sightseeing. I would highly recommend a stay here and hope to return again.

Meat from the village butcher (whom we use when up at our Bothy), smoked salmon from Inverawe etc. The menu changes regularly and is excellent value. The craftmanship and presentation are nothing short of 5 stars and you could expect to pay double for the same plates in London. The bar is a mecca for whisky and wine lovers, all the beers are local, which is just brilliant as we've had the good fortune to try some pretty obscure beers from the islands. The bedrooms are all going through an upgrade, and I couldn't recommend a wee weekend here as a base with which to explore beautiful Argyll.

The first night we were a bit tired from the drive and didn't feel like cooking, so we visited the restaurant. It's nice and bright with great views of the Loch. Service was very friendly. We had the Goat's Cheese Salad (Grilled Goat's cheese served with roasted peppers, salad leaves, soda bread and raspberry balsamic dressing) and the Haggis Bon Bons (Crispy Haggis balls set on roasted tomato and chili chutney served with salad garnish) for a starter. Both equally good, but especially the Bon Bons were a pleasant surprise, good tasting Haggis! For the mains we had the Salmon with veggies and potatoes (daily special) and the Traditional Fish & Chips (haddock served in a beer batter served with chunky chips, peas and Tartar sauce). Both fish tasted very fresh and tender. Hot and crispy chips. With that we had a bottle of White wine, a Sauvignon Blanc Panul from the Lontué Valley, Chile. Fresh, fruity and crisp. Just 18£. We really had a great dinner. Good, fresh food for very fair prices, especially given the fantastic location. If you just come for dinner without staying here, the way back on the one-way street might be a bit dark. Luckily our way home was just a few steps :)

NOT ONLY THAT, but it is right on Lock Shiel which, in addition to being absolutely stunning, is the lake that Hogwarts is on. Compare pictures to this lake to photos from the second task(mermaids) from Goblet of Fire....you will SCREAM! Enough about Harry Potter. This hotel is quaint, homey, and incredibly warm and lively. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure that your needs and desires are met. From the included breakfast every morning to the offering of packed lunches for your daily hikes the team here is a cut above the rest. The rooms are large with beautifully updated, modern washrooms and showers. The tea kettles and assortment of coffee and teas(in room) are brilliant and the perfect touch. The main dining area/restaurant is delicious with terrific daily specials. The bar area/casual dining area is just as great and features traditional, Scottish, live music some nights. We felt we were catfished by the beautiful pictures of the Inn. The street is also quite busy and fast moving traffic makes it a dangerous cross to get to and from the pub/restaurant. The pub is awesome with friendly staff, very old, rustic decor and loads of taxidermy.
