That was the only vital she took. Jerris-Stephanie Okonkwo (I can't in good faith call her a doctor as she was the most rude and unprofessional medical person I have ever encountered) walked in and said "so what's been going on since the stroke? I've read the report." I proceeded to inform her of short-term memory concerns, some fidgeting, increased appetite, vision concerns and a few others. She then said, "that's probably from the stroke." I asked her about the stroke and what all really transpired with what part of the brain etc. Just trying to get some more information and understanding of a stroke. She asked, "didn't anyone tell you at the hospital?" I said "yes, but I couldn't really understand everything the doctor had said." "Why couldn't you understand the doctor?" she asked. I responded with the truth, "he was soft spoken and had an accent." Her already curt tone turned into a defensive/accusing tone, "do you have something against people with accents?" I quickly snapped back at her in my annoyed tone "NO, you asked me a question and I gave you an honest answer." She proceeded to tell me to CALM DOWN. Obviously, she didn't pass the psych portion of her training as telling someone to calm down only makes matters worse and she came across extremely dismissive and condescending. I should have at this point walked out. She did a brief exam with her extremely long fingernails in front of my mother's eyes. She asked her to do 3 strength tests. That was it. She also asked me if I wanted to change medicines. I am not a doctor, what do I know. She never even offered to explain the results from her brief test. It was it is probably stroke related. I asked how can you tell the difference if it's stroke or dementia memory issues. Her response is they are both loss of memory. I asked her is there a prognosis. Her response was "I don't have a crystal ball, and I've never been asked that before." In closing as she was literally walking out the door, she said "you can check out and make a follow up appointment with one of the other two doctors (and said their names). That's it! Again, rude and the most unprofessional so-called doctor EVER! How do you not even address your patient?? I am so disappointed with Piedmont's choice with this neurologist, as we have had such wonderful care with our journey at Piedmont... I learned more from Dr. Google, and I should not have to. I got absolutely nothing from her. Even with my mother's mental status, she recognized a snotty and rude person!

I tried everything and no luck. Was referred to Dr Walters by my anesthesiologist and Dr Walters immediately found out what my problem was. Dr Walters answered all of my questions. Thank you Dr Walters for correcting my issue and allowing to be able to do some of the things I used to do but was unable because of the pain.

Thanksgiving eve due to a head injury and was quickly diagnosed as having Acute intracranial hemorrhage (bleeding of the brain). I met Dr. Walters' Thursday morning after being admitted the evening before. His warm, caring demeanor was very comforting and reassuring and at 1pm Thanksgiving Day I was having emergency surgery...a very scary craniotomy. During my two post-op visits to his office, the number of questions I and family members had/however trivial, he patiently answered. The care and attention, I received through-out have significantly fostered my positive emotional state and sped up the healing process. The office motto is: We treat patients like family" and I can humbly verify that without a doubt Dr Walters and office staff (Emma Turner and others in the Riverdale office) truly practice their motto! I am forever grateful! Bettye Jo' Smith
