He's pleasant, thoughtful, funny, and empathetic. Truly, I can't say enough good things about him. Hell, I wish we were friends. He's great. That said, his clinic at Wellstar Paulding closed and he fell off the face of the earth. I've called all the hospitals in the area, including Emory where he did his Residency, thinking maybe they kept up with doctors who went through their program. I've tried it all. I think I finally figured out where he is, but they were so cryptic on the phone and said they couldn't give him a message from me. I just want a referral to a new Neuro, if he's no longer taking patients. Is he? No clue. They closed up shop at Wellstar and didn't give any warning or get me in to see him one last time before he left. I was due for an appt around the time they closed, as I go in regularly. If anyone sees this and knows him or if Dr. Morton sees this, himself, please reach out. (Miss you, Doc! You're the best!) If you're not taking patients anymore, please contact me to point me in the right direction. I'm having a hard time finding a new doctor. If he gets to a clinic where he is taking patients again, I swear to you you'll never regret choosing him as your doctor. He's amazing and I'm so bummed he's not my Neuro anymore.

She said he was a joy to work with, and very kind, humble and knowledgeable. She suggested I try him. Hands-down, he is the best doctor that I've ever seen. He has wonderful bedside manner, was very friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. He wasn't condescending. I don't need to see a neurosurgeon often, so it won't be often that I need to see him, but I wish there were more doctors like him. If you need a neurosurgeon, he's amazing

I am so thankful for Dr. Gates. I awoke 2 years ago with no previous trauma to my back, but could…read morenot stand up straight. The pain was excruciating, resulting in me having to go to the emergency room because the pain was so bad that it was adversely impacting my blood pressure. Due to multiple trips to the emergency room I was admitted. The attending physician in her discharge notes referred me as normal to an orthopedic specialist, but she also mentioned that there was a neurosurgeon in the Piedmont Physician's Group that she would like for me to obtain a consult. Of course the Ortho doctor initially ordered PT which did not help me and after 2 months of that, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Gates, for the first time, a doctor actually listened to me. He ordered a nerve study and other test and more x-rays and when I returned for our consultation, he took time, we reviewed the results and he provided a diagnosis and plan of action. Diagnosis, sciatica and my L4 & L5 disc had slipped and was pinching my nerves. At this time I am on a walker. I had gone in less than 6 months from high impact aerobics to living, breathing and with every movement of my body being in horrible pain & only able to be slightly mobile on a walker with no relief regardless as to the strength of the pain medication. So very thankful for the ER's referral to Dr. Gates! He was caring, listened to my concerns and fears and provided me with a comprehensive plan of action that included a foraminotomy procedure that restored my quality of life and removed constant, tingling in my (R) leg and hip and living without constant pain and discomfort. Thank you Dr. Gates for your professional, caring approach to patient care. In my months of care with this physician, he only presented himself as a physician that was 100% dedicated to improving my health! 2 years later and I am still happy and pain free! Praying that you experience the same outcome, GOD BLESSED ME WITH DR. GATES!

Good Evening Fellow parents,…read more I would like to start off by saying that this office was referred to me by my sister as my niece used to go here. The reason why I am giving this office a 1 star is because of the level of care. We book an appointment early in the morning to be seen for the first time. I waited over an hour and a half to be seen. My appointment was scheduled for 9:00 am but was not seen until nearly an hour and half b/c of how busy this office is with lots of people. I would like to mention that the issue did not happen in the Riverdale office but rather in the Stockbridge office that they recently combined. It was the initial visit for my newborn and he had a diaper rash that wouldn't go away so I waited patiently to be seen. The lady at the front desk had a bad attitude when checking you in, the nurses in the practice that I encountered were nice. The female dr that saw my son answered all of my questions and concerns however I did not feel that we connected to continue seeing her. Nonetheless, I took her advise regarding my son's rash which happen to be an Yeast infections. She prescribed ointment and we did the treatment at home. The rash wouldn't go away after a few days and this truly worry me. I called the office and spoke to a nurse who mention to mix the ointment with hydrocortisone and Destin and see a difference. I took the advise and did not see any improvement. After researching online, I ended up using corn starch one time and the rash cleared up. I did used hydrocortisone afterwards to help heal. During the checkout process in the initial visit, the lady was short, no eye contact and was only there to book 2 - 3 appointments in advance. I only booked the 2nd visit and did not want to do any more bookings. The big issue happened with them when I signed a medical release form to switch practices because I did not feel that this practice care and did not like the check in process and the things I saw while seating with other clients. This practice was crowded and the process felt rushed and asking questions felt like bothersome. I called the office the day before my last appointment to confirm and they advised me that we were still scheduled for the next day only to come in wait another 35 minutes for them to tell me that they cannot take me since I am changing practices. This all could have been avoided with a phone call. I was so upset about the process because the medical release forms were signed over a week and a half prior to the appointment and supposedly they had faxed the information on that Tuesday prior to my Friday appointment that week. I left quite upset however remained professionally and called the office once I was calm to ask for them to send me the medical records directly. I paid $25.00 since the previous practice claimed that they hadn't received the forms. I believe the office manager or a staff provided me the information right away and I did not look back afterwards. I do not recommend this practice b/c of the multitude of clients, the process feels rush, the care does not appear genuine and some of the staff are not friendly. I would think twice than providing your money to a practice that does not uphold customer service or care standards. Thank you.
