Best loose meat sandwich I've ever had, excellent flavor. Where I'm from we have nothing like this, it's just the best.

A Maidrite from Taylor's is the ne plus ultra of Maidrites. There is nowhere else where the taste comes even close. Order it wet if you like it juicy, onions if your stomach can take it, mustard and pickles. For the love of God, no ketchup or cheese! Tip: don't set the Maidrite down once you start eating it. What a great little Greasy Spoon diner! Very limited menu, the Maid-Rite sandwich, or nothing. But it is good! A loose beef sandwich, on a white bun. Add cheese and onions, and it is perfection! The shakes and malts are great too!! And a sandwich for $3, that is hard to come by anymore! read more

One of the orginal Maid-Rites, not much has changed over the years. Great food & fast service. A previous post stated that Taylors was not part of the Maid-Rite franchise, that is incorrect. Taylor's as well as all the other Maid-Rites across the midwest are under the same franchise rules and regulations; they are independantly owned franchise's. The difference IMO is the older Maid-Rites have much more character than the new ones and some have homemade pies to go with those yummy Maid-Rites! read more

Living in Kansas City...When I go to Marshaltown, IA on business this is the go to place. I have brought people from all over the world here. I just love this place. The meat making machine is super old and the place is an icon. The Maid right is fresh ground beef on site and like no other Maid rite. This is a personal favorite. Love maid-rite, but NOT THIS ONE. NOT a "real" maid-rite. NO FRIES. counter girl takes order and begins to fill it, then asks me how many sodas we ordered? Dont know u took the order. she proceeds to hand me a sack overflowing with loose meat sandwiches...when I asked her "are the burgers labeled, since each one was different? She replied "no, want me to write it on the sack" aaaaa NO that would not help with anything. Bottom line--food is subpar and management needs to hire high school graduates. Amana colonies maid-rite is the real deal and well worth the trip. This is my first bad experience with maid-rite in 45 years..taylors should loose their franchise. Disgrace. read more

Every region has its burger, and our burger kicks your burger's ass. And then it grinds it up into little balls of meat, and puts it on a bun. I grew up in Marshalltown, and there is no more nostalgic taste than a salty Maid-Rite being scooped up out of the wrapper with a spoon after you eat the steaming sandwich. Love that they don't use ketchup, which is the flavor of failure. read more

Soooooo good. One of my favorite things to eat in Iowa! Simply delicious sandwich of ground beef, mustard, pickles, and onions on hamburger buns. Thinking about it is making my mouth water. And then pair it with a milkshake!?!?! Pure beauty. read more

All the hype in this little town. We had the special of one maid rote, chips and a pop for $6. They offer cheese now which never would have happened back in the day. Ketchup and mustard also available. Served quickly and double wrapped we sat at the counter and enjoyed our meals. It was good but the burger was a bit dry. Not sure if you can order it 'moist' here or not but next time I will see. The shakes are also the thing order which o didn't haven't the stomach room for. Maybe next time. Service was friendly. Seating is limited so plan accordingly. Private lot for parking. A staple of the town so a must try, at least once. read more

This is what I miss most about Marshalltown. Maid Rites are good, but their malts are simply the best I have ever had and set the standard of comparison for everything else I've tried. It's not often I make it up this direction, but when I do, stopping here is a #1 priority. read more

The one person said it was made prefect right there on that spot. Just a little history for you, before it was in it's present location it was across the street. I have lived all over and usually when I go back to Marshalltown, I have to have a maid rite wet. Then to hear the state said the have to be cooked differently, is stupid. They have been fit this way forvyears and no one has ever gotten sick. Taylor's cant be beat. I have been going there for at least 50 years with my grandfather. I live in Colorado my wife and I were in Marshalltown last June. my family lived in the Marshalltown area in the 1950's and we had a lot of lunch's at Taylors so I had to have at least one while we were there and it brought back memories for me it is still the same building and same counter although I am sure it has been resurfaced and the stools are the same we are planning another trip to Iowa soon and we will be going there again read more

A Marshalltown classic. You must have a maidrite with a chocolate shake. It is a must. No you can not have ketchup on your MaidRite, it is a faux pax. Mustard and pickles or plain. Those are your choices. A nostalgic place, the decor hasn't change nor should it ever. There have been other MaidRite around this original but none can compare. read more

It's exactly what you would expect...a diner dive with original maid rite sandwiches. The malts are amazing! The waitress recommended the butterscotch malt and my oh my it was really good. And it was huge. Three of us shared one malt. read more

Pretty good; I think the fact that they use fresh beef and grind it in-store does make a difference. I still do kind of prefer the extra seasoning that a lot of other Maid-Rites add to the meat, though. read more

I've been going to Taylor's Maid-Rite on annual family vacations since I was a little kid. I've never been disappointed by the food or service offered. Like another reviewer said, get it wet if you can handle it and make sure to wash it all down with a shake or malt. Introduced my girls to this Iowa treasure on our last trip in July 2013 and plan to make it an annual occasion for them as well. read more

Taylor's is by far the best of any of the Maid-Rites. All the other ones taste like saw dust to me but Taylor's is fantastic. Amazing flavor, smaller town charm, great service, and the best malts. My favorite quick place to grab a burger. read more
