I was apprehensive about listing my house to sell in a dismal market. I interviewed several agents and selected Jamie Avila from Texas Capital. He was recommended by a friend and I found him to be very personable but very upfront. No snake-oil phoniness from this guy! He made some suggestions about staging the house and was honest about its faults as well as its good points. We found a buyer in six weeks. The actual sale took longer, as the buyer had some financing problems, but Jamie worked with the other Realtor and got it all worked out, including a monetary compensation for the delays we suffered through. Claudia Valerio is a professional in every respect. Knows her business; knows the market; communicates exceptionally well; and provides excellent customer service. My wife and I have had terrible fortune with RE agents over the years, but this was a delight and it was purely serendipitous. We spotted a home we wanted to look at on our first day looking by ourselves and called the number for the home on an internet site. We thought we were calling the listing agent, but instead we were calling some sort of service to which RE agents subscribe. Almost immediately we got a call from an agent, but when I asked if she was the listing agent, the answer I got was that she represented the listing agent (which was a lie). She started asking a bunch of questions about our qualifications, etc., and wanted a representative agreement, when all we wanted to do was look at the house. She never explained who she was or whom she worked for, and it made no sense to me, so I terminated the call. Next call was from a young man whom after we explained what we wanted, said he wanted to help us but was busy showing a property and asked if we would talk to his associate, who would call right back. It was Claudia who called right back. None of the previous BS. She said she was not the listing agent but that she would find out and call back. 10 minutes later we had an appointment to look at the home at 9 the next morning, but with the understanding that the listing agent already had multiple offers she was presenting the next evening. Claudia did not ask for bonafides or for us to sign an agreement with her. She showed us the home, reminded us that if we were interested, we needed to remember time was short. We said we would get back to her by noon. We went back to our apartment, did some research and decided to make an offer. Our offer was accepted, and that started a 6-week odyssey of purchasing a home in Cedar Park. Claudia was with us every step of the way , navigating all the BS that goes into a home purchase. It was a great experience. We would recommend her to anyone. (But we would caution folks to be careful what number they call when looking for a home -- we ended up very fortunate, and we hope, with a friend going forward.) read more
