You can never deal with the same person twice. Complete lack of communication within the staff. I've had rude service, emails and phone calls unreturned. Although they didn't have a real money in it, a chocolate coin and the itself gesture is nice. RBC might want to note that giving out odd numbers of money is for funerals though, not the New Year.

I've worked with their accounts managers and tellers through Junior Achievement and they've been awesome - they worked with myself, JL Isley High School students and the JA office without a glitch. They're professional and just really good at what they do! The hours at this branch aren't as late as others (5 p.m. most days, 6 on Friday, 9-4 Saturday) but they're still pretty good and they're always willing to accommodate you with a later/earlier appointment if they can. They've got a drive-thru ATM as well as several machines inside the branch. It's really a great spot, and in a great location!

It wasn't to long before I had another job but money was tight when I was asked to travel out of town. I called RBC on 44 Portland street to speak with some about getting a little temporary assistance. When ever I called the banks number I continullied got a call center, when they attempted to call the branch no one would answer. I attempted to call 8 more times with on answering at RBC 44 Portland street, dartmouth. I then called the Cole Harbour branch and explained the problem and asked if it would be possible to have a temporary loan of $100.00 until I got paid 12 days later. RBC said NO I am sorry but you don't have a steady income? I told RBC the money is so I can keep my job, I also told RBC that you'd like I was asking $10,000,00! RBC replied, I am sorry but where not able to assist at this time. I replied, this is how you treat your customer who have been loyal to RBC for nearly 20 years! I doesn't matter to RBC but I lost my new position over them not lending a long term loyal customer a $100.00. I know longer bank with RBC, I realize nearly all banks are the same but I couldn't continue doing my banking with such a non caring Institution like RBC. I am not sure how open they are to having random people walk in and snap pictures during the regular banking hours.. but if they are.. you need to go! It's one of Halifax's oldest buildings and just a beautiful representation of the architecture. There is the original brass fixtures everywhere. From the elevator doors, to the windows, to the safety deposit area's gate. It's all there in it's original glory. And as an added bonus, they were giving away free books of old advertising back in the early days of Halifax.

Thank you! Finally! Since when did 'Here's my twenty, i'd like $15 in loonies, $5 in quarters' illicit a: 'Certainly, can I just see your debit card?' For what? How could that possibly be necessary in this transaction? Essentially, what banks are telling me when they won't let me buy laundry money is a) they don't care if my clothes are dirty and b) they don't want to expend the cost of processing coin, bills etc on my behalf when i'm not paying monthly user fees, etc. Grrrrr.... Anyways, moving on... This Scotiabank location will! And I love them for it. If I regularly required teller service at this bank I would probably be a little miffed though. I was in at 11:45am yesterday and waited 20 minutes in line. This bank is only open 10am-5pm, 5 days a week... can't half the staff take their lunch at 1? It seems obvious that a lot of people will need to do banking between 12pm-1pm. Especially when their bank isn't open before or after work. Regardless, the laundry money and friendly service will keep me coming back!
