My child is learning Latin, classic Literature, memorization, critical thinking, socratic discussion, ethical and polite debate, art and music every other day, learning how to learn, and most importantly, how to be a person of character. Their core virtues are Truth, Beauty and Goodness. Even though they learn how to be a scholar, it is the emphasis and focus on character that really makes me grateful for this amazing school. And perhaps the pièce de résistance? No pop culture allowed through the front doors. GHWH is currently (2018-2019) serving K-5 but will be growing each year (next year will be K-6, etc.). This free public charter school is incredible and I am looking forward to watching my children grow at Great Hearts Western Hills! Go Spartans!

He was then never allowed to return because the admin said I "lied" on his application because his current school year information was not on there. We applied and were on a waitlist for a long time. I was overjoyed he was admitted as I had heard such great things about the school. This campus specifically has very low tolerance for kids with special needs who need any support. Pretty sad but a reality in many schools in Texas. I just felt it was time to share our experience to save other parents the heart ache. This was several years ago and although it took years to reverse the trauma he is now flourishing. I can only hope the school looked internally and made improvements after this experience as treating a 6 year old child the way they did is NOT ok.

That school isnt right for your child im saying this as a student who used to go there ive had been in the harmony district for the for 5 years and they never helped my education and the teachers there were terrible they would throw objects at us and cuss at us and the school never believed it until it was saw and heard but the whole class.DONT GO TO HARMONY SCIENCE ACADEMY

If a problem does arise they are prompt and willing to address and/or correct it. Other than not offering students a designated unstructured break (reason for only 4 stars) I am pleased with all other aspects. BTW: A friendly heads up, very strict with excessive tardies, which is understandable. Teachers are very involved and admin always makes themselves available (special thank you to Ms. Gomez). Kudos to the lovely ladies in the front office, always a pleasure to see you. ( which was quite often with our excessive tardies, lol) All in all will miss being a part of this family. *almost forgot, much credit to the academic and extracurricular team for consistently exposing and encouraging the students to participate in many various clubs and programs offered both on and off campus.

Let me tell you my experience with them. First, Ms. Frazier got mad at me for not wanting to sing in her class. Even if I wasnt going to be there for the performance. I told her multiple times. "Ms. can I not sing" since she was asking everyone to, one by one, she continued to yell at me and say "does it look like you cant sing. We have 2 weeks left until the performance." Then proceeded to tell me "go sit over there since you dont wanna sing" Ps. I told her I dont wanna sing in a VERY polite way. Not yelling or screaming. In my inside voice. Very glad I don't have her anymore since I am leaving elementary. Along with Ms. Osander, I have had multiple issues with her. One time at beecare/an after-school program, i asked to go inside since i felt like i was having a heatstroke. She told me no. But thankfully another teacher came outside and took everyone in anyway. The next time, she got mad at me for walking fast in order to get a vest in order to open cars for the morning. The last time, she gave me a markdown for apparently BAD BEHAVIOR when I didn't even do anything. Then told my teacher that she NEVER said she never gave me a markdown. whenever she CLEARLY grabbed my tag on my backpack and told me "im giving you a markdown for disruptive behavior" EXCUSEE ME? mind you, this isnt the only tme she lied. Above all of this, thanks to Mr Sena and the relationship he was with my parents and my brother, I feel safe and know my future will go beyond with the support he gives me, if it wasnt for him, I know my parents would move me and my brother to another school. That being said, my brother and I will graduate from this school with his support. Thank you Mr. Sena.

Robin, Julie and Stephanie were an absolute pleasure to work with. They answered any and all questions we threw at them. They helped us feel at ease when there was anything we were unsure about. We started care at a regular obgyn office and transferred to Westover Hills Birth Center around 4 months as I didn't want to deliver in a hospital (unless necessary). The prenatal care was subpar at the hospital compared to the extensive care we received at Westover Hills Birth Center. Our visits were pleasant and we didn't feel rushed like in the hospital. We looked forward to our appointments and were bummed when our postpartum visits were over! Robin and Julie are very passionate midwives and were very knowledgeable. Both of them coming from different backgrounds in midwifery helped create a fantastic dynamic between the two of them. I had a 26-hour labor and a few setbacks during delivery but alas, because of our badass team, we had the birth we had planned for and they respected our birth wishes. I couldn't be more thankful and appreciative of the love and care we received from West Over Hills Birth Center. We will be recommending them to any families in the future looking to go this route. Every time we pass the Birth center, we look for their vehicles just to stop in and say "hi". They really did become part of our family!

Growing up in rural Texas, all I knew when it came to childbirth was that when it's time to give…read morebirth, you drove your wife to the hospital (and if you were lucky, you got to drive fast with a police escort). So, when my wife suggested we use a midwife to deliver our first child at a birth center, I was initially (and quietly) opposed. It just seemed......"weird"......and a little too hippy-dippy. But, I'm not the one giving birth, so I went along. To say my eyes have been opened is an understatement. Over the last 4 years, Robin has delivered 4 of our children; 2 at a birth center & twins at home. She is flat out amazing, smart, caring, brilliant, full of knowledge, dedicated to protecting the health & well-being of both mother & baby. When our first daughter was transverse after labor started, it was Robin's expertise & training in Germany, along with 4+ hours of hard work that got her turned. Any other midwife would have cashed their check & sent us to the hospital for a c-section. But, Robin is unflappable & dedicated to delivering (pun intended). There are so many things I love about Robin.......her calm under pressure, her tenderness, her desire to be flawless in everything she does, her love of teaching & sharing wisdom. But one trait that has won my heart is her ability & resolve to properly balance the health & well-being of the mother & baby against the mother's desire to deliver naturally & at home or the birth center. She won't take risks. But, she also won't take the easy road when sending a client to the hospital is easier. She delivered our first two babies when she was a partner at Stone Oak Birthing Center. While her partner, Joy, was the "personality", Robin was the rock, the fountain of knowledge, the "can do", the know-how. She had 5% of the personality, but 95% of the knowledge of that partnership. And when she left to start her own birthing center, there was no doubt where we were going. We're beyond pleased to have made that decision, especially with the horror stories we've heard from others who've hired Stone Oak since she left. Robin & her team are flawless in their execution, preparation and communication. Robin isn't going to wow you with personality. She's reserved & stayed. But, there is no one I'd more want in my corner than her when it comes to child birth. 5-star woman. 5-star business. 5-star expertise. Thank you Robin (and your team) for the remarkable experiences we've been privileged to have shared with you these last 4 years. And thank you for safely delivering our 4 precious babies.
