They have a really good mix of newer machines along with a lot of old-school equipment that has clearly been taken care of. A lot of the older stuff still runs like it's brand new, which says a lot about how well the place is maintained. There's plenty of variety too, so whether you're there for bodybuilding, strength training, or just looking to get a good workout in, you're going to have plenty of options. The staff was really friendly and welcoming from the time I walked in. The day pass was $20 for a full 24 hours, which is a great deal. I went in during the afternoon on my first day and was still able to come back the next morning and get another workout in before the pass expired. For someone traveling, that makes the day pass even better. One of the biggest things I liked was the atmosphere. Everyone seemed like they were there to actually train. You didn't have a bunch of people just standing around talking, sitting on their phones forever, or taking up equipment without really using it. People were lifting, getting their workouts in, and moving on. It had a really good serious gym atmosphere without feeling unfriendly or unwelcoming. The gym also had that old-school feel that is getting harder to find, but without feeling run down or outdated. Everything was clean, the equipment was in great shape, and there was just a really good energy in the place. Overall, Hellbound Gym was a great destination gym while I was away. Great equipment, friendly staff, a solid atmosphere, and a really good price for a day pass. If you're in the area and actually enjoy training, it's definitely worth checking out.

I tried going to the gym, which worked out for a while, but I soon became bored with the constant repetition. I needed something a little more interesting. Lo and behold, I stumbled across this gym. Met the owner Jeff on an open gym day, who offered a free class before a membership, but I decided to become a member right then and there anyways. Best decision I could've possibly made. Here's a mental picture of a typical weekday evening, maybe around 7: walking into the gym, the first thing you see and hear are the punching bags. The smack of gloves against rubber, and then a timer going off every minute or so at a constant rate. Look to your right, a small class of new members doing a warm up. Look up at the boxing ring, a sparring match is taking place while the owner Jeff is on the sideline throwing in commentary for improvement. Chairs by the front might be occupied by a mom or two, watching as her little ones learn the basics of shadow boxing and how to wrap their hands for protection. All whilst rap music is blasting throughout the gym. With this scene in front of you, you won't be able to shake off this need to put in some work. Moving onto the actual classes. Not going to lie, the first few days suck. The workout with the instructor Jorge is going to kick your ass- I've been here for a little more than a month and for some classes I show up to, there's someone running to the bushes outside to puke at the very end. I've seen a military personnel practically winded- guess boot camp has nothing on here! But as the weeks pass by, you start noticing that hey... I did 10 more than the last time. This doesn't suck as much. And you start noticing how your stamina is improving, and that makes everything so incredibly worthwhile. You can thank Jorge for that, an amazing instructor who will push you beyond your boundaries, but understands that the body still has physical limits and will always want your health to come first. All around fantastic gym with great energy. I highly recommend to anyone seeking out a good workout for a very good deal, wants to relieve some stress, or plan on becoming the next Rocky. With no doubt, this is exactly what I was looking for!! Great boxing gym! They work with your punching and teach you proper boxing skills. It is the best school I have ever been in, and I have been involved in martial arts off and on for almost 20 years. It is not - repeat NOT - a black belt mill. If you don't study and attend, then you don't belt test - and the belt-tests are real tests - usually several hours long. The classes are demanding but very fun! All skill levels are welcomed, and while standards are high, so is the caliber of instruction. They take you where you are at, and build from there. In short, Mou Chuck is a great place for all ages and conditions to learn a new skill, meet nice helpful people, and get some great exercise.

We need it down to two, but ultimately Ultimate Warrior because I came highly recommended by a trusted friend, and I agreed with the methodology of its owner Jake And his staff. They are firm and nurturing, disciplined, yet still fun. Other successful places in the area wasn't a great fit as they felt more industrial and performed for appearances than what I had in mind. I ultimately chose ultimate warrior for my son, because he has fun while learning to protect himself at a very natural pace. Further, because my son is clumsy... They also work on "how to" fall effectively. After just one of these classes, my son was riding horse riding and was bucked off the rear from about 6 foot off the ground. As he fell, he automatically went into a forward fall position and saved his face and glasses from hitting the ground. Needless to say, after seeing this, I am sold that the methods taught here are effective and strategies used for learning these skills are something that kids can relate to easily. An added bonus is that Jake must have a radar that draws in good people. All the parents I've met here have been really kind and so are the students and coaches.

Additionally, the coaches are highly skilled and experienced martial artists themselves. They run tough classes, at a pace that challenges the class without discouraging them. There's a real finesse to that, and the coaches at UW are impressively good at it. Belt test days (and the following potlucks) are a real opportunity to see the incredible work these coaches do with students of all ages and abilities. The potlucks and social events really show that UW wants to be part of our local community. From potlucks to parents nights out to holiday parties ... they always try to find time for fun, not only to reward their hard-working students, but to build bonds among them as well.
