There are small handful of Urban Wineries in Philomath. Compton Family WInes has a nice elegant tasting room. There are board games, cards and a few other stimulating distractions to keep the young ones occupied. At the time of our visit, the tasting menu had seven options for us to enjoy. I found the wines here to be very good, with very reasonable prices. I still can't believe the tasting fee was only $7. The staff is was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ended picking up a couple of bottles... Love the Sea 02 label. Artistic, creative and eye catching...and the Rose was nice and refreshing as well. They boxed them up and we headed back to WA. Once we got home the bottles that were placed in the box were not the same YEAR bottles that we tasted at the Pheasant Court Wine Tasting Bar.... Everyone of the bottle we opened were bad... They ripped us off. We would never go back there again and I should have written this review a long time ago. It was very disappointing. The sheep, guarded by Akbash Livestock Guardian dogs, are aversion trained not to eat the vines. All of this adds up to delicious Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir wines grown organically. The really special wine is only available to farm family (wine club) members. Today we sampled the 2017 offerings paired with the tastiest morsels prepared in the cottage kitchen. We warmed up in front of the open fireplace and enjoyed the other guests company while Stephen, big beard and all, floated around. Do take a group and visit for the full farm/vineyard experience or make sure to drop in on one of the few days it's open to the general public. It's so worth the trip.
