Carl's ex-aerospace, so intellectual aspect of what needs be done, gets done, before wrenching begins, before the car gets rolled, into the stall. Carl and I went back 'n forth two months trading thoughts, hashing it out, somewhat complicated endeavor, r134a retrofit on a vintage supercharged MR2 (e.g., doesn't share principle A/C components with any other Toyota). Crux of our dilemma, that parts ran out on this vehicle, 20 years ago, we had to make due with what we had. But, Carl still has all the old equipment to service R12! Dozens of specialty shops petrified, scared to death to even touch the thing, even the local Toyota dealership here in Lancaster chickening out, kicking me to the curb, by the time we rolled my AW11 into the stall, Carl had the retrofit wrapped up less than 24 hours, restoring A/C -- to a nearly 40 year old vehicle? If you can believe that? Other reputable shops, having bid-over US$9k to do the retrofit? Threatening to tear the entire car apart? Carl came in, a cinch under US$400 bux, for the retrofit. I got charged more than double what I would have spent at an actual dealership. I don't know if the pricing was authorized by the owner, George, or by his manager, Sergio, but they really tried to pull one over on me. Not only that, they took almost a week to get the undershield even though the vendor told me that already delivered the parts needed. And on top of all that, Sergio gave me some BS itemized receipt that shows no detail of what was actually done to the car. I will definitely be posting pictures of it

I stopped by the shop and I spoke to a Hispanic gentleman. I think he had long hair and then I got to talk to the owner. Totally forgot his name, but super cool older OG cat . I told him my situation and they gave me a price for a new catalytic converter which was gonna be well over $2000 but then he proceeded to tell me before we talk about money. Why don't you take yourself to the dealer and have your car checked to see if your catalytic converter still falls under federal warranty. So I did that and sure enough the dealer covered all my expenses and replaced my catalytic converter. It was a blessing to meet this man at this muffler place he had some knowledge and he shared it with me. His instinct wasn't to take advantage of the situation at all thanks to him. It was the best experience one of the best experiences of my life. I recommend this place 100% why because they are honest.
