We took an Uber all the way up here thinking this was the long cable car system that went to the port, but this is just for going from the road up the hill to the castle. It offers nice views and gave us the chance to see the outside of the castle and much of the city scape from way above. It's priced reasonably and the wait wasn't long to get in, pay and then get on the cable car.

This was one of the best stops we made in Barcelona. If you're visiting the city, I absolutely recommend you check this out and that you time it so that you go down around sunset. You get an incredible view of the city and there's a gorgeous castle at the top where the Teleferic descends. You even get your own private cable car as you ride down. My husband and I did it during our honeymoon in Spain and we still talk about how it was one of the most beautiful experiences we had there together!

My husband and I walked up Carrer de Margarit and then took the Telèferic (Cable Car) to the top top where the Montjuic fortress is. If you want to do the same, take the Metro and get off at the Poble Sec station. Head West on Avenue Paral lel (about 4 or 5 blocks) and turn right onto Carrer de Maragarit. The trek up from there gets gradually steeper followed by several sets of stairs (maybe 6 of 50 steps each, I can't remember). I was out of breathe and sweating like a mad woman. But it was a fantastic experience. At the top of these steps you'll reach Avingudar Miramar, a main street where you'll soon spot the Telèferic towards the left. Alternatively, you can take the metro directly to this main street. The metro is "Funicular de Montjuic". From there you can make the line to buy your tickets and get onto a cable car that will leave you right in front of the castle. If you already have an unlimited metro pass, you can use it for the Funicular. The cable car (Telèferic) will be a separate cost. We went on a Sunday afternoon. We waited less than 15 minutes to get on to a car on the way up. We did not wait at all on either of the trips down. (Down from the Montjuic fortress to Mirador or Down from Mirador to main street entrance). Each car can seat maybe 8 adults. We always sat alone. But this isn't a guarantee. The prices for the cable car are: One way: 8,20€ Adult 6,50€ Child* Roundtrip: 12,50€ Adult 9,00€ Child* *Child= 4-12 years old. Children under 3= Free admission The hours of operation vary per month. See photo I posted. The cost was worth it for us. We saved our energy to thoroughly enjoy exploring the fortress and its museum.

A fun activity providing great views over the city and coastline. The cable car ride is actually quite short and it isn't cheap at around 10 Euros but I thought it was worth it. Once at the top you can pay to go in to the castle or just explore the grounds and take in the views, which is what we did. It's a little out of the way, we got a cab up from the bottom of Las Rambla at around 6 Euros, not bad split between 3. I found travelling by cabs to be cheaper than the subway, and a lot more comfortable and convenient.

Cool urban views! While this Telefèric doesn't go as high up on the large hill overlooking Barcelona as I thought it would, it still gives viewers an alternate view of the city. We didn't have to wait in line - perk! You take the funicular trolly up the side of the mountain, get out and walk over to ride the cable car. If I'm remembering correctly, it's 7€ round-trip.

We decided to do Teleferic de Montjuic on a whim and were glad we did. It's a little scary being a little glass box that climbs up a mountain side - however, the views are well worth it. On a clear day you can look out to Tibidao mountain and on the opposite side, Barceloneta with the cruise ships and beautiful Blue ocean. The tickets were inexpensive and we were able to get off at the top and take pictures, and then ride back down. The cars comfortably fit 4 people but you can probably squeeze 5 or 6 if you're chummy. If you're a landscape/scenic photographer or love heights, then definitely do this if you're in Barcelona! P.S. this is not the port cable car that goes to the harbor (that's a different service).

    Let the fun begin

Little pricey for a short tram ride (one way). Caught the tram at the top. Nice view but not sure worth the cost, especially when you can walk it (all downhill)

Pretty cool experience, especially for kids. Great view of city. Lines can be a bit slow, but I would deal with the wait.

Long line over 40 minutes. We took rhe teleféric from the top of the mountain. I don't think is worth it, unless you have plenty of time.

Great experience and an amazing view. The tour advertises 5 minutes between stops but it felt a lot shorter.

There are also separate tickets available to go to the airport. The kiosk is fairly easily to use although we wanted to speak with an agent to make certain we understood. Purchasing tickets are easy through the ticket machines. I purchased a T-Casual as that was more than enough for me. That amounted to about 12 EUR. Note that because I arrived in Barcelona via the Renfe, I didn't need to worry about purchasing a separate airport ticket, which would've coughed up an extra 5 EUR. Google Maps and the Citymapper app helped me plot my journey across my time in Barcelona, but the stations clearly point out the stops as needed. They do go a bit deeper underground, but the stations itself are more accessible friendly due to the 92 Olympics. When inside the train, most of the announcements are indeed in Spanish, but you can figure out where you need to go. Just like most cities in Europe, remember to open the latch or press the button to exit the train. Overall, an easy and pleasant way to get around Barcelona.
