This surprise 74th birthday tour was four hours of TOTAL FUN! Having already been to Barcelona, we were interested in exploring interesting new neighborhoods and sights. Alex is amazing! He asked what we'd like to see, then outlined in detail on a map and explained the sights and areas we'd visit. Mission accomplished! It was exciting way to see a variety of local neighborhoods and places off the beaten path not typically toured. Alejandro was very accommodating. Made room for us last minute, and because it was raining during our AM appointment he moved us to PM no hassle. The tour itself was great we did the 2 person sidecar tour for 3 hrs. One seat behind the driver and one in the sidecar. It felt safe on either seat. It was a great way to cover alot of ground efficiently. Joaquin our guide was fantastic...very knowledgeable and native to Barcelona. Gave us some great restaurant tips. WOW!! The 1/2 day Barcelooona tour was absolutely AMAZING! Two days before leaving London for Barcelona, I decided that I hadn't planned enough for my upcoming trip. Based on Internet recommendations, I contacted BrightSide to see if they could accommodate my last minute request. I was in luck! I booked a Saturday afternoon tour for one. I spent a delightful 4.5 hours with Joao as we zipped around the city in Motorcycle and sidecar. The intercom system in the helmets allowed for us to keep the conversation flowing all afternoon long. We made several stops along the way and took a closer look at landmarks. Joao's knowledge of Barcelona's History and command of the English language were impeccable. This was a perfect start to my vacation in Barcelona. The tour provide a highlight of all the main historical sites and many more that were off the beaten path. As it turned out, my November Saturday afternoon adventure was the only day of my vacation that was rain free. In hindsight I was so glad I made the splurge as there were places I would have never made it to later in the week given the weather conditions. I have to admit that when I initially saw the pricing on the Internet, I did pause as the tours are not cheap. However, I can assure you that the personalized attention and overall experience far exceeds the prices that BrightSide charges. This was our second day in Barcelona and Peter was so great at showing us the city. Having never been to Barcelona this was a really fine way to get a lay of the land and get the full city view. I had been a little nervous about the sidecar but I totally felt safe. (Also as a little bit of a larger girl I had the room I needed.) Brightside is doing something awesome and unique. Their sidecar tours are really a fantastic way to see Barcelona- you get amazing views, cover a lot of ground, and your guide (Matthew in our case, who was so knowledgeable and friendly) talks to you the whole time via a small intercom that attaches to your helmet, so while you're driving around you can hear all the details about where you are and ask questions. They will take you to small streets and up large hills and you will see everything that you want to. They also make sure there's time off the bike, so you can walk around, take photos and really take things in, and for a little extra money, they will bring a bottle of Cava and a pair of champagne flutes so that you can have a romantic toast looking at Sagrada Familia (or wherever you want really, that's where we did ours). The tour is so much fun and such a thrill, and you learn so much about history and culture, and the bike itself is truly awesome - you get so much attention riding around in it because it really is so unique. I had booked my trip super last minute and Joao was a dream to work with- quick to respond, helpful and so accommodating. They have a large variety of tours to suit pretty much any kind of time restraint or wish, and afterwards, your guide will draw you a map and give you suggestions on where to eat and what to see. We started off our trip to Barcelona with this tour and we are so glad we did; it helped us get better acquainted with the city and the sense of direction, and we also felt like we had seen a lot and could now pick and chose what to see more of. If you are thinking about doing this tour, stop thinking and just do it! Nothing could have prepared me for what a special experience this is. The motorcycle itself is amazing, and you will get quite a few onlookers, and some people taking your picture. We had locals stopping the guide to ask him about the bike and others just yelling from their own bikes next to us at stop lights. The tour itself didn't seem long enough, I could have done it all day. We did the 3.5 hour tour and I can't believe how much of the city we saw this way. On a Sunday morning the streets are quiet and even more charming. The tour itself was excellent. Our tourguide, french Matt, was informative and entertaining about all of the sights we visited. He tailored the tour specifically to our interests and what we had already visited. He told us that each of the guides only do a specific amt of tours each week (maybe 3) so they don't get burned out. And it really shows, I felt like he was just as excited to be on the tour with us as we were. Each helmet has a microphone with excellent sound quality so you can listen and ask questions without feeling like your straining to hear over the sound of the bike. He was a safe driver, and always aware of our safety as we entered/exited the bike on busy streets. I asked for recommendations to restaurants/tapas locations and instead of just giving me a list of places to try he dropped us off by the Picasso museum and walked us past all of his favorite places! It doesn't get much better than that! Plus he took us to a bakery that is famous in Spain for crossaints, after just arriving from France we were a bit suspicious of this claim. But of course he wasn't exaggarating, they were some of the best I've ever tried. And if I wasn't already convinced that he was the best tourguide I've ever met, he gave us his email address and sent us recommendations for other places to visit and eat at on the rest of our trip in Barcelona. After reading positive reviews on TA about this tour the only thing that was holding me back was the cost. Well, I'm here to tell you that they are undercharging for such a great experience! This an incredible way to tour Barcelona!!!!! My wife and I were looking for a different way to see Barcelona outside of sitting on top of a tour bus; after searching Trip Advisor and various blogs we stumbled across BrightSide. We immediately decided this was something we had to do! We had already seen some of the main attractions so our guide - Matthias, first rate by the way, extensive knowledge of Barcelona history and very, very cool and accommodating - showed us many things off the beaten path. His restaurant recommendations were really helpful and showing us the Born District was a revelation as we spent the remainder of our trip exploring and eating there. BrightSide was a really cool experience, I mean how cool is cruising around any city in a side car motorcycle? We had many opportunities to take pictures and people were taking pictures of us as these bikes are quite unique! This is an easy cruise around Barcelona, Matthias did not zip us from place to place; I was comfortable on the back and my wife loved being in the side car. I surprised my boyfriend with the "must do" 3-hour tour for his birthday. We had Peter who was so sweet and very personable. He took us all over the city in a very personalized tour. He also gave us great lunch recommendations. The side car was really fun (although I preferred the back of the motorcycle seat because there were less fumes). My daughter and I had the best time on this tour with Alessandro as our guide - he was fantastic. We created quite a stir in the streets of Barcelona zipping around and we laughed the whole time. Cannot say enough good things about this company. We were looking forward to this tour from the moment we booked it and it did not disappoint. Our tour guide picked us up right from our hotel and started off by giving us a map and running through all the key sites and history behind all of Barcelona. We could customize the tour to what we wanted to see specifically but since we didn't see much at that point in the trip we totally trusted him to show us around to all the places he recommended. We chose the night tour which was awesome to see all the sites which we normally wouldn't have done. One of the best parts was going up to the top of Montjuic and looking down at all of Barcelona.
