We stayed in the lodge and ate several meals at the Raven Rock Grille…read more The lodge room was a lower level walkout to the lake. The rooms were perfectly clean and the temperature was nice. I am not sure how it was cooled, but we didn't need to adjust it during our stay. My uncle liked being able to walk outside for his smoking habit. The food was very good. I critique restaurants very harshly, so for them to get a five star rating is a big deal. I ate a grilled shrimp meal the first evening. The cocktail sauce was a chef preparation with horseradish and red pepper? Flakes. It was simply the best spicy cocktail sauce I have ever had. No lie. A bit hot for some for sure. The only flaw in the meal was the sauteed green beans were a bit tough. This happens if they are not par cooked and chilled before sautee. I ordered a key lime pie for dessert that I would not recommend. It had too much rind and was watery. The second night we got in past the kitchen close time of 9 pm. Guess what. They still allowed us a shortened menu. I had the steak bites and italian cheese sticks. The steak bites were served on the most delicious pie crusty/popover things with a horseradish sauce. Yum. As innkeepers; being nice to guests arriving late is something that really set them apart. The last evening, I had the king cut of prime rib. It, too, was superb. I also was served the same green beans, but they were prepared a bit differently it seemed. They were not as tough, but they gave me such a huge piece of prime rib, I had no room for it all. The next morning we were going to leave before their brunch, however, we ended up staying. I had a nearly table side prepared omelet and it was the best breakfast I had all week. I also had the french toast. The only complaint on the toast was the syrup was served cold and that is a pet peeve of mine. The fresh fruit was a wonderful addition and the coffee was perfect. I strongly recommnd you give them a try. You are welcome to use my review on your website.

Choose hotel due to its newness and being a Marriott titanium member. Also taxi close to cruse ship…read morepier for Viking Polaris cruse. Was upgraded to lake front corner room. Reception staff excellent. No executive lounge but was given breakfast vouchers good for their continental breakfast. The voucher could be used toward main menu items worth $13 CAD. Great food at the restaurant with attentive servers. The Sunday brunch is extensive and we were allowed to use the voucher toward it. However we were misinformed as voucher is only good for continental breakfast, not brunch. The manager made an exception due to misinformation. Kudos to the manager. Room very clean. However, housekeeping did not do a thorough job first night (trash not emptied, short on towels). Also had to call maintenance to fix TV and repair shower handle. Maintenance was very prompt and effective. The hotel just needs a little oversight on small issues like this. Hotel is located in the harbor district and footbridge gives access to downtown. Not sure I would venture there after dark. The Bright restaurant next to hotel is outstanding. Go there. Would stay there again. Keep traveling.

The NO's No microwave, fridge is warm with no knob to turn…read moreit down. No hair drier!!! No pool or hot tub. No free breakfast, not even continental. The towels are new but rough and I mean sun dried rough no fabric softener here folks. And the train rolls right beside the building every hour if that's your thing (reminds me of life at my grandparents house in Coniston, Ontario, at least the bed doesn't shake though.) The YA's It does have a signature bar and restaurant that had live jazz entertainment but it's definitely not worth the price Of $300 a night standard 2 queens. Everything has a charge, they'll nickel and dime you to death here. $10 starting for breakfast might get you a muffin... $25 parking but it's heated underground so I bought that for convenience instead of having to lug the luggage carrier through snow then up stairs into the front foyer ( which really they should have bellboys for that but don't) Honestly I don't know how these big chain hotels think they can drop amenities, gut guest services and charge you on top of the hefty price of a nights stay for less. I'm surprised they don't make you wash the linens when you're done. Being a member means nothing, no perks, no late checkout, unless you're a farmer and think noon is late. LESS FOR MORE pretty much sums it up. Perks? I mean if you're conference is being held here staying here means you don't have to walk across the tracks might be the only perk aside from the view but ya you've gotta pay extra for that too! lol I could go on but it's already 11pm and I've got an early late checkout so.... Book a room at the Holiday Inn Express and be treated like a king for less!
