It is incredible how you find Jews of all kinds from totally non religious to very religious and everything inbetween sitting together in prayer and study as brothers and sisters. Everyone was happy. The new building is spacious, modern, yet cozy. The congregants were very welcomming. The Rabbi (on the young side with 3 young children) seemed very affable and had a great singing voice. (I latter learned he had been a Cantor.) The service was relaxed and surprisingly engageing. (At least it surprised me.) We were searching for a synaguge mainly for our 2 boys then 6 and 8. To be continued - My son now 11 is requesting the computer to play his games.

The second building was in the Rondout district of Kingston and about 1971 the prison building in uptown Kingston on Lucas Avenue opened. The congregation was founded by Ashkenazi Jews from Amdur in present-day Russia. We are still an Orthodox congregation with Chabad Lubavitch affiliation and leadership.
