As a whole, this is a community of God-loving, Spirit-filled followers of Jesus who care for one another and welcome visitors with open hearts and minds and a genuine enthusiasm for those seeking connection with God and the church. Over the years I have seen a consistent truth that has impacted and influenced my own walk with God through its many seasons: Jesus must be at the center because however sincere the intentions may be, a close-knit family of believers is not without its flaws. I've been hurt by people, but no more than my own weaknesses and faults may have hurt others at times. I've been let down by imperfect people, and I have found myself being unable to meet every need expected of me by others as well. I think that is part of how we grow. We learn in a community of people who need grace. We learn not only how to give that grace freely, but also how much we need a lot of grace ourselves. The consistent mindset I've encountered has been to strive toward resolution and make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Individuals are encouraged to engage but are free to choose their own level of involvement. I've learned to keep in mind that every one of us is fighting a hard battle at any given time, and not to take perceived slights personally without the willingness to communicate openly about how I'm feeling. I've learned to forgive. Sometimes it's hard. But... Sometimes being willing to admit when I need forgiveness is even harder. So as with any family, grace and mutual respect are important, and processing challenging experiences in healthy, mature ways is one of the many valuable things that the people of Turning Point have helped me to develop. God's purpose and plan is to build us all together to become a Holy Temple in the Lord. The Bible is filled with flawed families figuring it out! Reaching spiritual maturity is a different process than reaching those seeking a new relationship with God. I've found both of those experiences and everything in between to be more than capably navigated within this little church family. I was brand new once too. People stepped up to help me learn from the Bible. I've seen the men and women of Turning Point lay down their lives to help enrich the lives of others and deepen their experiences of God throughout the diverse stages of literally hundreds of unique transformative journeys. I've been a single man, grateful to be able to build strong relationships with my spiritual sisters within this church family for over 15 years. So many memories and experiences have become foundational to my identity. I eventually met the woman who would become my beloved wife here after a few dating relationships that did not end up at the altar. Through the tumultuous and the tranquil times and seasons of my life, the Rock has and always will be Jesus. He has been my peace when there was only chaos. But the love and support of the church family has meant so much to me, I'm not sure where I'd be without those deep connections developed over the years in moments spent by doing life together with my brothers and sisters here at Turning Point. Depending on the people who comprise the church to meet every expectation we might unknowingly have is unfair and unhealthy. But there is deep love here. For God and the church and the world around us all. With many church homes to choose from, I've found my place alongside the people of Turning Point because we take the Bible seriously, we trust that Jesus is in control, we try to keep in step with the Holy Spirit, and we value the risky responsibility to care fiercely for each other and open our hearts and lives to help people who want to build a deeper relationship with God. Turning Point Church has been my church home for over half of my life now. While this body of believers has never been able to claim perfection, they've also never stopped striving to be closer to the church Jesus intended. The Holy Spirit lives within this body of believers, and God is working powerfully to move us all toward maturity in Christ and to hopefully be a light for the world we're reaching out to impact. We honestly couldn't be happier with our experience at Laurel Hall. This school is truly a gem…read more Valley families, don't sleep on it! The community here is warm, welcoming, and tight-knit. You feel it the minute you walk on campus. The principal sets such a positive tone, and it trickles down through every part of the school. Teachers and staff know every child by name, and that kind of connection really sets Laurel Hall apart. Class sizes are small, which means our child gets personalized attention and are really seen not just another face in the crowd. It offers that classic, traditional school experience you might expect in a small town, but it's right here in the heart of the Valley. Yes, it's a private school and tuition isn't nothing- but compared to others in LA, it's very reasonable for what you get. We also weren't sure how we'd feel about the church affiliation going in, but honestly, it's light and sweet. Think Christmas songs and mostly the focus on kindness and compassion (with a little Jesus sprinkled in). Nothing heavy-handed at all. We feel so lucky to have found Laurel Hall. You are welcome here. 3. Outreach ministries. Once a month, my son and I go feed the homeless in North Hollywood Park. It's been such a lesson in gratitude for us. 4. This church is a beautiful Church inside and out; especially during the Advent & the Holidays. Nicely decorated. Inside & outside. All are welcome, including LGBTQ people. That's what Jesus wants. Right? For everyone to get along, find their inner peace, harmony, unity, and love for one another. So ALL ARE WELCOME!! They do all types of services pertaining to weddings, funerals, baptism,& more. I have been to their Sunday mass few times in the mornings which starts at 10am & ends at 11am. Service has always been great, wonderful, & beautiful. Later they have refreshments to satisfy your sweet tooth, and fix your morning routine with some coffee. Their website has not been updated for years, & whenever I want to go and pray in the mornings, afternoons, evenings, doors are locked. It says on the website that it's open until 5pm, when it's NOT. Please update your website and be kind enough to open the doors, so people can go in and pray, if and when they want to! They used to have an evening mass that would start at 5:30pm on Sundays, and go a little over an hour, which was delightful for the people who attend mass in the evenings. Someone like ME! That went out the door too. Since a little before COVID, they stopped their evening mass which had a beautiful worship service, with their phenomenal choir, and band. I wish they can bring that back! Paster Jonathan H, is very soft-spoken and easy to understand. Get's the sermon going, and the baskets with the donations moving. Great Job Pastor J! Now, let's get to my Christmas Tree lot experience. On the 7th of this month, I purchased a 5 1/2' Noble tree which was $95.00 with the stand. Not including tax nor tip. I tipped them $7.00 for the great work that they have done. Trimming the bottom of my tree, and carefully putting it on the roof of my car. Thank you Mike & Brett!:-) Once they update their website hours, and bring back the evening mass, the 4 stars will become to be 5 solid, bright shining stars!!! Church is clean, they have a BEAUTIFUL GARDEN adjacent to the Church. Restroom is clean & quaint. Plenty of parking spaces.

Campbell Hall is an INCREDIBLE school. I am so grateful my daughter got in (for Kindergarten, now…read moreshe's in 2nd grade). Yes it is expensive, but 1 out of 4 kids is on partial or full financial aid and that was very important to us, because we can afford it, but we did not want our daughter going to a "rich kid" school. And this school really values diveristy, including socioeconomic diversity. It is technically Episcopal but 22% of the student population is Jewish and the kids learn about and celebrate all kinds of different holidays including Diwali. We of course worry about gun violence and the campus is a COMPOUND. You cannot get onto campus without being checked out by security, and there is a former Marine on campus at all times with his adorable German Shepard, Otto - who is GREAT with the kids but I imagine also trained to attack and take down anyone threatening. One of the things I like the best is there are so many after school activities on campus I don't have to drive my daughter anywhere else, I just pick her up a bit later on days she has activities like Toy Design, Junior Shark Tank, Tennis, Mindfulness, and Improv. And while we do not use the bus system yet, my understanding is that Campbell Hall has the widest and most extensive bus system of any of the private schools in LA. Lastly, the parents CARE and are really involved and the school really welcomes their involvement. And the kids are taught values and kindness is a major priority along with education. Again, I recognize the expense is daunting and it's very hard to get into, but we applied and got into Laurence, Oakwood, Hollywood Schoolhouse etc, and are extremely happy (and so is our daughter) that she got into CH. She is absolutely thriving.
