we came here for an event, nice campus, not too just right size. parking is very very limited to the main lot and front smaller lot and street parking. New track field/football field is very nice, too bad the bleechers are not covered, intense sun and intense heat!!! I see reviews of things that says - dont care, don't this. Get to understand point of view of all parties and yes there are people that care more than their job duties go and there are some that do not. California especially has special things about it vs other states. Read more and understand, then you will feel some empathy for all parties. read more

Temple City does not care for their students if they are being bullied or harassed by other students. They cater to the delinquents instead of their students. They will not take responsibility for bullying or fights that happen on campus. They turn a blind eye to it. They cater to their Asian students and top athletes and can care less for the other students. The school isn't top notch like it claims to be. There has been an increase in fights on all Temple City school campus's for about 6 years now. Your students safety is not their priority or concern. read more

I'm looking at all these reviews and I don't really agree at all! I mean like, sure, school sucks. We're not reviewing to point out the obvious. I'm pretty sure if you look at any school, you would complain about many similar problems as well. The thing we're reviewing is stuff that makes TCHS different than AHS, WCHS, SGHS, etc. Ok, from a student stand point, I feel that the academics are up to par. MOSTLY all the teachers are nice and willing to help you succeed. Of course, like any other school, there will be those crap teachers that will make one class horrible for you, but I have had a lot of great teachers that have actually made all the difference in my high school experience. For clubs/ extra-curricular activities, there are a ton to choose from. Last year, I was the Campus Comm. for ASB (Comm. in charge of clubs) and I can safely say there were a huge variety of clubs to choose from. There were more than 60 different types of clubs that were active in the school. Adding on, there are also many sports and extra-curricular organizations to join. Of course, some sports are more competitive than others, but that is just the way things roll at times. For extra-curricular, there are so many groups such as LINK crew, Peer Listeners, ASB, Yearbook, Rampage, Choreo, Aux, Comedy Sportz, Drama, etc. I know I've included some Performing Arts, but the groups at TCHS are serious, so they require just as much time as a extra-curricular activity would require. Also, TCHS has implemented the RAMS program. Basically, it is a 30 minute study hall right before lunch for students who need help to pass their classes. Of course it sucks to have to be in this program, but the reward is not the program itself. The reward is not being in the program at all. Students who don't need RAMS get a 1 hour lunch period. I've asked my friends at many different schools and not a single one said they get any more than 45 minutes for lunch. You can do so much in 1 hour and that's why TCHS is superior in that aspect. To sum it up, you can't really critique a high school like you would a restaurant or a bowling alley just because not one little bad thing determines the whole entire review. I'm just saying that TCHS isn't all that bad and it AT LEAST deserves a 4 star. read more

Wow I didn't know people yelped high schools... well anyways, I really enjoyed my time when I was in TC (more than 10 years ago... yea I'm totally old). Since I came from a real ghetto high school (Duarte High School), Temple City High School was almost surreal to me because I didn't know that education could be this good with students who were actually motivated and friendly, wow! Honestly, I loved my time here because there were so many more opportunities and resources available to students than from my previous high school. The campus was much larger and much better looking. There were so many different types of clubs on campus for students to get involved in if they wanted to. Granted the majority of students attending TCHS is predominately Asian, but Caucasians are the next largest group there, with Mexicans and African Americans coming in the latter. You are attending school in a city where Asian people are the dominating ethnicity, but so what? What does the ethnicity have to do with your experience in high school? Much better than only going to an all Asian or White or Black, etc. school because you are growing up in a more multicultural diverse school.... hmm, kind of like College where you will find a ton of diversity (especially depending on the particular location you end up going to). So cheap shots about the ethnicity in previous yelper reviews should be disregarded (how racists of those peeps). A lot of my teachers were very well prepared for class and very helpful and friendly. Honestly, I have seen much worse teachers at my previous high school and so trust me when I say the teachers I had were very good. A lot of them put their heart and soul in teaching (but of course you do have those that don't care as well, but that's at every high school). Grad night on the school campus was what I had originally thought would be lame, but ended up being pretty awesome. Of course all the other schools did grad night at Disneyland (even my previous ghetto high school) but I still had a pretty great time partying it up one more night. If I had the opportunity to change my past, I wouldn't because Temple City High School was awesome and made a lot of ever lasting (especially the funny ones) memories that I will carry with me forever. read more

Horrible administration does not even return phone calls or emails consistently. My child is struggling with school, and I was trying to make contact with Chris Holmes. He would not respond at all or respond weeks later. I needed someone at the school to help support my child, but I literally could not find help or answers. ONE teacher responded to my emails inquiring about my child on a consistent basis. My child had multiple absences in one class, and I did not even know if she knew the consequences of missing - and as Mr. Holmes said there were, he was just bluffing. My child was never talked to by him regarding the absences, even though he said they take absences seriously. How is she supposed to think this school cares, or learn responsibility when the school doesn't help at all. This school is a disappointment. read more

Yes, 2005 was a okay year. I guess. HAHA. TCHS is a lovely school in a lovely area. I believe the demographics are heavily Asian, but that hopefully (if you don't mind the stereotypes) you can network (not a concept highschoolers have yet) with some bright minds. Mind you.. there are many people on the opposite end of the spectrum. The best counsler was Mr. Chang. He seriously knows his stuff and cares UNLIKE some of the other counslers. My friend would never had graduated if I had not sent him to Mr. Chang. I also love Mr. Hoague, Mrs. Brannum (I know you hate her now, but shes interesting), Frau!!!!!!, and Sue Gordon the librarian, and a lot of other teachers that were given the golden handshake during budge problems. Current students have lost out on some great people. The AP program is pretty legit, but I think the school should try to get into the IB program (that I witnessed in Walnut High School for a year). It is more prestigious and difficult. Food on campus sucks. I lived off ruffles for most of my time here. I hope they replace the bleachers because one day the same thing will happen to a student that happened to Mrs. Flanders. :( read more

A few updates to my review on TCHS in respect to changes I've seen as a senior... I take back what I said about ASB, they've changed a lot and have gotten better this year. Still problems and stuff they could do better, but I'm a lot more satisfied with what they've provided. Lots of clubs, lots of things to do at lunch, and every now and then there's something new to check out. You can get pretty involved here, TC's what you make of it. TCHS musicals and performances are amazing. I really recommend that people check out the musicals, (consistently amazing,) along with the Holiday concerts, dance concert, Spring Cavalcade, and drama shows. They're worth checking out. There's an evil librarian named the Dragon Lady. Beware. Overall, the AP and Honors teachers are really great. If you're an overachiever, for the most part, you'll get really nice and helpful teachers if you take high level classes. I can't say the same to all the regular teachers though. I think we also have a good balance of the arts - music, art, performing. Football team has sucked recently and trend's not improving. Sorry to see that. For me, the worst part about TCHS is the Asian elitism, (probably not as bad as Arcadia's) but just the overall feeling that the Asians are better than everyone else. And this is coming from an Asian. But I want to say that even though there are race problems like in every school, for the most part it's not so bad here. Just a bunch of Asians/from Asia-Asians that think they're better than everyone. What's even worse sometimes is the rich/materialistic elitism. Just because you have the latest iPhone/Nikon camera doesn't make you better than the kid whose parents struggle to pay rent every month. Oh, and we have long lunches now. They're lovely. read more

What is there to really say? School is generally filled with apathy and a sense of fakeness (considering everyone's either doing everything to pretty up transcripts or something along the likes). Recently, it's obviously gotten fairly competitive, but it still can't match Arcadia High (which is not that far off from here). A good amount of the teachers are just as apathetic and obviously teaching just to have food on their table everyday to eat. (However, there are those who stand out from this common crowd...one star for that.) This school is quite lacking in terms of academics considering there's freshmen in ..lets say Arcadia...taking higher level classes than the ones available to the students here. Only recently has Temple City been playing the 'catch-up' game to match up with its more successful La Canada , Arcadia , San Marino and other fellow schools. Class of 05 baby!!!!! What can I say high school was a joke when I look back actually. All of things were over exaggerated. In order to not sound too biased or anything I'll review the school as a whole. The school is pretty clean. The vending machines and snacks are a rip off. The classrooms are pretty new. Lunch time could be better since the lines were crazy long and a lot of times you end up only with 10mins left to eat. The court yard is pretty blinding because the concrete they used was too light. There is no school spirit at all. The parking lot needs to be improved for students. For Christs sake they are all new drivers and you give them no room to mess up when you know 99% of the time they will. I had a friend drive into another friends parked car...on the topic of driving the thing I hated most was the Nazi cop that was always waiting across the streets to hand a shitload of tickets each day. He got parents and kids at the same time. What an ass. Anyway high school was pretty ok here. Not the best and not the worse. Thanks to Mrs. Herman and Mrs. Fossilman(or whatever her name is now) tchs gets a lower rating 3 stars cause they always seem to have a problem with someone or something. I went to the football game at Temple City High School in Temple City, CA on 9/28/2012. I've been there many times before. The Temple City Rams defeated the Rosemead Panthers by a score of 20 to 10. A ticket to the game cost $6.00 while the program was $5.00. Parking at the school was $2.00 but we parked for free on the street. read more
