This Temple is unlike the others I've been to in the Milwaukee area. It's kind of like "Cheers". Members and staff work hard to know your name and include you so you have a sense of belonging. I first went here when I started going to their yearly rummage sales and after talking to the Rabbi, I started attending events. I eventually started volunteering there as well. It's important to note that I'm not Jewish, I'm Presbyterian. I feel more welcome here then my own church. While religious institutions are often geared towards those of the particular faith, there's resources here that people of any faith can benefit from. The yearly rummage sale is every June for a week and open to the public. They sell decent brand clothing by the bag full. There's lots of furniture including dining room and bedroom sets. If you have electronic items, furniture, household, automobiles they take them as donations and provide receipts for use with your taxes. Another great event is Vegas Night which takes place late in the year. They have casino games which winnings are converted into a discount you can apply to your bidding. When bidding begins they have a professional fast talking auctioneer that auctions off the goods. Items include restaurant certificates, vacation packages, artwork, sports tickets and more. While not a member, I have heard from friends that their membership costs are very low in comparison to suburban temples. read more

This congregation is responsible for Ever-Rest Cemetery and continues to ignore its poor condition. I recently visited Milwaukee and was shocked that the terrible upkeep is little different from when I last complained about the poor conditions to this organization's board of directors in 2013. I am greatly saddened that my late family members' grave-sites are being so disrespected. read more

I belonged to Temple Menorah for many years before moving to New York City. We used to take our children there when it was on Center Street. After it's move to 76th Street, we often attended special holiday events there with our friends. Unfortunately my husband was sick for several years and had several hospitalizations. He was always visited by Rabbi Isaac Lerer. During the last year of his life, he was in the Jewish Home. Again Rabbi Isaac visited him and many other residents of the home. Whenever we had attended the synagogue we got such warm welcomes from Rabbi Isaac and Rabbi Gil-Ezer. We always felt very welcome. The congregants were also friendly and welcoming. The synague also had some fun celebrations. I always felt "at home" there. The synagogue kept Jewish religious tradition.I was very saddened by Rabbi Isaac's death. I know he was very much missed. But I know Rabbi Gil-Ezer has honored and maintained his father's legacy. I moved to NYC, after my husband passed away and I retired from work. I live near my children and grandchildren. But I still haven't found a synagogue that even begins to match Temple Menorah. read more
