I was overcharged! I scheduled a hair and makeup appointment for prom. Ultimately on the day of my appointment I decided on a style I saw in a picture and showed my stylist. My stylist explained to me it would just be my hair curled and then a Bobby pin to pull a front section back. My hair turned out nicely, but only if I knew that one Bobby pin cost me $25!!! I think that is a little unreasonable because if I were told that one Bobby pin would make my total $25 more expensive, I would have not paid for it. Also to mention that when I was checked in, nobody offered me anything to drink. This would not have been a problem if the lady checked in after me wasn't politely greeted, offered, and served a glass of water. Perhaps it was my age, but regardless, I am a paying customer. Considering I waited 30 minutes for my appointment to start, it was infuriating that somebody who waited 5 minutes got water in that short amount of time. My makeup did turn out nicely. And so did my hair! But perhaps being older would have made my experience more enjoyable. read more

I decided to try Temptd because I really wanted to upgrade my hair style and I wanted to go to a salon that also offers nail services. Until recently I have been getting my hair cut at a bargain place. I won't name names because they are fine for what they do, i.e., fast & cheap haircuts. However, I needed to go somewhere that would take a lil more time and give a precision cut because I wanted to go much shorter and get some interesting highlights. Megan at Temptd did a great job. She really took the time to understand what I wanted (I brought pics) and discuss things like the shape of my face and even skin tone (!). I was beyond pleased with the result. Bonus: Complimentary paraffin treatment for my hands because I got color service. After my hair was done I moved on to the nail area for a mani/pedi from Virginia. She did a lovely job and was very gentle with my somewhat sensitive feet (a little bit ticklish). I would totally recommend Temptd. Just had a cut and color here with Amber. Amber provided a great consultation. The cut and highlights came out awesome just in time for my engagement pictures! I also got a free wax paraffin on my hands (this is complimentary with a color) while my hair was getting washed. I'll definitely be coming back! Made an appointment for a cut and color. I had long brunette hair with a blonde ombre that was growing out. I wanted coppery red tones added into my hair and showed numerous pictures of the color. The stylist asked if I wanted more blonde put in. I said no more blonde, I want it to be a bright red copper like the picture. My hair came out looking almost all brunette with dark red undertones. Not at all like the color I had asked for. I explained this isn't what I wanted, but I paid 130 or so for everything. We scheduled another appointment to fix it and I was told I'd have to pay even more. Any time a stylist messed up my hair or color at any other shop, it was fixed for free. I shouldn't have to pay extra to have your mistake fixed. After the second appointment, it was the desired color, but faded in a week because she used more of a toner instead of dye? So, I have not had the best experiences going to a new hair salon. Actually 90% of the time I end up upset and devastated. Luckily, I have a my best friend to do my hair, but due to a super busy schedule and last minute thought of "I need to get my hair done before vacation", I could not make our schedules work. SO, I searched online for Madison Salons. Upon my search I came across Temptd on Yelp. I called to see if they had appointments available. I was on a strict schedule with only 2 nights that would work with me. I ended up with a appointment with Megan. After scheduling my appointment I came back to Yelp to read the reviews.... to be very honest I was skeptical that 2 reviews were from NY. But I decided there were other good reviews on here all though none were for my stylist- which was scary but I kept the appt. I am SO GLAD !!! I walked in to an upbeat salon, was offered a refreshment while waiting. Then I was offered again at least 2x times while in the chair, finally took them up on some water. When I got in the chair I explained what I was looking for, with in a few mins Megan was back mixing color. I had magazines and conversation available. Upon my foils going to be rinsed out I was offered a free paraffin dip, which was a nice touch. When getting my hair rinsed out I received a wonderful relaxing shampoo. When I was back in the chair, I received a little neck massage before/after my cut (can't remember when but it was excellent). Then we finished with my style. When I made the appt I didn't even realize that if you tell them you found them on here they give you 25% off your first service :) Which is awesome, to me it says that the owner believes 100% in her employees and that you will return. I highly suggest this hair salon and Megan as a stylist. The only thing that wasn't so great is the parking. read more

Went in to get my hair colored for the first time ever. I wanted black with purple tips. Instead Ashley dyed my hair my natural hair color, with slightly purple but not really tips. She was very very nice but $160 for them to dye my hair my natural color is ridiculous. Very very very disappointed. read more

Came in and saw Lola. She is an absolute artist! I've been to a lot of salons and barbers in my life, but by far Lola at Temptd is the best I've had. Her attention to the details is what stood out for me the most. Again, an artist! The salon was also very clean and everyone was very friendly. I first went to the salon for a shellac manicure and the girl did a great job--so for nails I can say good things. But hair...dear god. I recently moved from Chicago and was in need of a hair salon. I was so upset with the service I received . A basic foil highlight was too difficult for this level 3 stylist. My hair was patchy where she had highlighted and a brassy orange color. It's never a good thing when your hairstylist tells you before leaving the salon to start using a "purple toning conditioner". Needless to say, the next weekend I went home and had my previous salon fix the mess. Never coming back. read more

I have to say, my hair cut from Abby at Temptd is the best cut I have gotten in YEARS!!! Even my bedhead looks good! I don't know how she did it but she absolutely nailed it for me! I also must tell you I am rarely moved to do reviews because I hate to take the time. So this is a big deal for me to write my thoughts out here. I think I will try to do more of this. Anyway, upon arriving at Temptd I was greeted by a friendly front desk person, the same person who took my appointment call earlier that day. Check, super nice front desk person. Second I waited for my appointment, I think she was running a little late, but I never have a problem with that because getting you haircut should never be rushed and I get that. Abby greeted me and we began the usual task of trying to determine "what to do." I had come prepared with pics from pintrist. I pointed out cuts I liked and why and ABSOLUTELY "please not this pics." I wish I had before and after shots of my encounter with Amy because if ever they were pertinent, it would be now. Amy took her time with me, I am certain it was putting her over for her next appointment but she was focused on me and my needs at this time. And if ever you are the one waiting, just put a sock in it. A stitch in time as they say. Back to the hair cut. What can I say, I have told the same things to many a stylist and they got me to a better place hair wise. Abby just plain nailed to to the max. I am very happy, very happy, very happy indeed!!!!!!! Abby I hope your days are filled with every good thing that can come your way!! And that's what I think about my experience at Temptd. I just had a hair cut here for the first time today. It was a wonderful experience. From the minute I walked in the door everyone was so attentive. They asked if I wanted a drink. They washed and massaged my head. They offered a neck massage. I felt like a queen. :-) What a great thing to do on my lunch hour. I met Bailey today who cut my hair. So far I love it. I had a great experience with Lush. Their online booking and confirmation made finding an appointment super easy - even though I only looked 3 days in advance. Confirmation was online and by text (my choice), which was great too, because I don't like answering my phone :). It was easy to find as well. I had Jen L. cut my hair into a pixie. I've had a pixie before, so I wasn't nervous about that, but it is always a little nerve wracking trying out a place for the first time. I had no reason to be nervous - she did an excellent job. She was really nice, professional, and courteous. She checked in with me often enough to let me know that she wanted to get it right, but seldom enough to ensure me that she knew what she was doing. Very annoyed with my experience at Temptd. It's actually a nice salon: clean & spacious interior, nail services, quality products, plenty of magazines and teas and coffee. However, they do not have good communication. I was traveling from out of town and they were recommended by my hotel. I asked how much a blowout would be and was told 40 dollars. At my appointment, I showed the very friendly stylist what I wanted and she got to work. She suggested she use an iron and I said sure. When I went to pay I was told it would be seventy dollars. I expressed shock as I had been quoted 40. They told me that since the stylist used the iron it was an updo/iron cost. I explained that never once did the stylist ask me if I was okay with a new cost or even tell me that using the iron would double the cost. The desk basically was like "sorry about that". I feel that is bad customer service and also shady - they should have told me about the cost or asked if I wanted to pursue. The stylist never said a word. Again, a nice salon and my hair looks nice but I found their business dealings to not be transparent or fair. read more

I really loved it here. I usually go to cheapie hair cut places but I decided to upgrade. I'm new to Madison so I checked out Yelp for some suggestions. I called numerous places in the Madison area and no one answered except Temptd. I was able to get a same-day appointment for a haircut and brow wax. I think her name was Katelyn (Sorry, I forgot!), but she was very friendly and took her time perfecting my hair and brows. The salon was very clean and gave off a good vibe. I had my wedding hair and make-up done at Tempt'd. Hair was good, make up was horrendous. Don't go here for make-up. There is so much turn over it's impossible to keep up. I booked and paid for a wedding make-up trial as required with someone who left the salon within the few weeks between my trail and wedding and I was never informed. I asked for "natural and simple" with the new stylist and showed a picture. I got eyeliner covering half of my eyelid from tear duct to corner and eyelashes that were falling off within minutes. We ended up being a half hour late to the ceremony because make-up ran so far behind schedule. My wedding morning was so stressful and rushed because of it. Two of my bridesmaids had to stay at the salon and "meet us at the ceremony" getting dressed in the salon bathroom because we were running so late. I had worked in a half hour of extra time in case things ran behind but that was all absorbed and then some. Half of my wedding party informed me with how unhappy they were after the fact. I sent the salon an email because I wanted to give constructive feedback and didn't want to post a review online initially. I never heard back front he salon. read more
