I went in today under the impression I was getting and exam, X-rays, and a cleaning. I got an exam and X-rays done and an Invisalign consultation. After the doctor came in she recommended a deep cleaning, fillings, and extraction. When the doctor left after she examined my teeth I thought the cleaning would begin but I was taken from room to an office to speak with the financial advisor. She broke down the finances of the treatment. Deep cleaning over 1000 with insurance my part would be 477. I was fine with the filling part and I didn't want the extraction which they also had a problem with. Doctors have told me before if it doesn't bother me it's okay to keep them in. They just want another money grab. So I am being told these are recommendations and I let the financial advisor I don't want a deep cleaning could I please get a regular cleaning and she rudely told me NO and to go to another practice then. If there recommendations why were they trying to force me to accept the treatment and got mad cause I said I didn't want it. I've gotten regular cleanings every time I go to dentist appointment and no office has given me an issue and denied me treatment I've had other doctors recommend the deep cleaning by the way and they had no issue giving me a regular cleaning after I said no could I please get a regular cleaning. The fact that the financial advisor (Asian lady) told me to go to another practice that was so unprofessional!!! They are just trying to upsell treatments that are not needed and I know it's a business but there is always a middle ground where you can work with a customer I'm an assistant manager and I always work something out with a customer. But to be told I am being denied treatment cause you want a money grab is appalling and I have NEVER been told by any doctors office to go to another practice. They could have absolutely given me a regular cleaning but instead told me to go to another practice because they wanna bill my insurance for 1000 plus with fillings. Now they wasted my benefits from insurance and are billing my insurance for an exam and X-rays which I actually will need as I am going to be making an appointment at my previous dentist which I should of done in the first place. I was also a dental assistant before so I know how they try to sell. They love making social media videos and posts that really is just marketing and like people have said what ever you see on the internet is fake!!!!! Horrible, worst, experience I've had. The task was enormous - at least to me it certainly had sounded overwhelming. But Dr. G's incredible patience and thoughtfulness, and the respectful manner in which he explains everything - treating you as a partner rather than simply a patient - made me choose him over two other doctors I had been considering. And I am so happy I did! Today, after many months or our collaboration I am in a very different place: medically, aesthetically, and emotionally. What's also very important to me is that Dr. Gerskowitz looks at the patient and his/her health in a integral way, which so rare at our time of infinite specialization. He is a real master. His approach is careful and intelligent, and what they call "bedside manner" is superb: once you are in his office, you immediately feel at ease. Dr. Gerskowitz is simply the best dentist I've seen in my life and one of the very best doctors of any specialization I've encountered. I just wish I found him earlier. The staff is equally great - I use this office now for my general dental maintenance and checkups. Everyone is knowledgeable and friendly. The young lady dentist assigned to me was very inexperienced. She extracted the molar by chipping and hacking away where she eventually removed the molar in pieces. I ended swallowing bits of the molar. In that visit, since I had insurance , this place did anything and everything to max out as much as they could from my insurance. I was told that 25% of the bill had to be paid upfront, which was $588. That night I bled quite a bit and had tremendous discomfort. The next day my face was swollen and I had a slight fever and realized something wasn't right. I When to another Dentist to get to the bottom of why I was bleeding so much and had this puffiness and why I had all this discomfort. Was told that the reason I bled so much was because the stitching done at this Avant garde place was because it was done on one side of the gum and that the stitching should've have been done in a cross road method as opposed to one side of the gum and the grafting to cover the hole in the gum area was not there. Was also told that I also had an infection as well and was given a prescription. I ended Spending an additional $750 to correct this mess done at Avant garde. To add insult to injury, no pun intended, Avant garde wanted another$1,590. I left skid marks at Avant garde. As mentioned, it was a horrible experience. Stay away...

Everyone was warm and welcoming from the start- including the receptionist, Stef the dental assistant, and Dr. Angela Kim. I liked that Dr. Kim gave me the option to put on a stronger temporary cement for my crown in case I had to wait longer for my permanent. Also, I liked how Stef noticed the dental light was shining in my eyes and moved it. The office is beautiful and I liked that they didn't push any extra products. I do think they are a bit pricey compared to my regular dentist, but for an emergency visit it was well worth it for me.

I did and found out from a reputable practitioner that East Madison exaggerated my bone loss, suggesting that I would soon lose my teeth, evidently to frighten me into agreeing to a totally unnecessary, painful and expensive procedure. I was told by my new dentist who also gently checked that my bone loss was not severe and I was not at risk for losing my teeth, dhouldI live to be 100 as long as I continue to take care of them as I have. East Madison is a multi-practice complete with endodontists and state of the art, expensive equipment and the money to pay for it all reasonably has to come from its clients. Understandable, that there would be a somewhat larger bill at such a practice if run ethically. Unfortunately, the temptation to push unneeded procedures must be high.
