Howard is truly an amazingly knowledgeable and talented "master" racquet technician! His stringing and racquet customization are brilliant and his prices are more than fair, especially considering the experience high level of customer service! I've bought frames from him -- notably older frames from almost 30 years ago that I had become accustomed to playing that aren't made anymore -- and he's "the real deal!" I needed to find a grommet sets for two thirty year old rackets. I am an old dog who has played on the same racket since the day I got it both for fun and on my college team. I inherited a second of the same Donnay and needed to make some adjustments. So it sent me down a rabbit hole of restoring both racquets to their original glory, which lead me to tennis menace and Howard. Howard is very knowledgeable and on point, a fellow NYer just as myself, and even sharEs the same name as the great man, my father whom I inherited the second Donnay from. I see the other reviews and know that some people misunderstand New Yorkers and the greatness that comes with the birth right of being born in NYC. Anyway Howard went above and beyond to be sure that what I was buying was the correct fit for my racquets. Did I spend more refurbishing two racquets than two descent or one top of the line racquet would cost, Hell yes. Is it anyone's fault but my own-no. Is it worth it YES. I just wish I had found tennis menace before I ordered the strings and grips from somewhere else. I drive through the country plenty and if I am ever in Georgia I will have to set up an appointment for a restringing with them. read more

After coming across this web site I called the owner to discuss my lingering tennis elbow problem. I was beyond impressed as he spent an hour with me on the phone explaining racquets, strings, tension, etc. He also inquired in my level of tennis, and the type of game I played. During the conversation I never for a second felt any pressure to buy anything from him. I have no doubt Howard is genuinely interested in helping people match up with the correct racquet, strings, and tension. The best part is you can return the racquet within 90 days if you are not satisfied. He will refund the cost of the racquet minus the cost of the strings as long as the racquet itself was not abused. As promised, he mailed the racquet to me and two days later it arrived. I will try it out and while I do not expect miracles I have confidence that I am better off with this racquet than my old one. read more

I have never posted a review on any website before, but the 1-star rating on here is quite misleading so I feel like I should share my recent experience. This is not your typical brick and mortar store. This made me hesitate at first, but after one visit, I know I'll be going back. The owner is very knowledgeable about almost everything related to tennis. I watched him string my racquets after I chose the strings, and he even cleaned the handle down to the core to put on the replacement grips. He also does not pressure you to buy things you don't need...in fact the opposite. He convinced me to pass on replacing the grommets which I know I didn't need, but wanted anyway. He's like the coach I used to train with many years ago. read more
