One of the oldest (and most beautiful) vineyards in Italy. We did not stay in the Villa, but we did…read morecome here for lunch, as well as took a wine tour with a tasting. We had heard great reviews about the restaurant- and we were able to get in the same day for lunch, despite no reservations. I ordered the homemade tagliatelle with beef ragu- the noodles were fresh and cooked to perfection, the beef ragu sauce had a good amount of meat, and was very flavorful. The best part about the restaurant is how FRESH everything is- you sit next to a garden and will actually see the chef go down and pick out fresh basil, kale, etc. for dishes on the menu. The tour itself was well organized, but seemed a little less personal than others I've been on (somewhat expected from larger wineries). I also found the 3 wines (Chianti) in the tasting to be "good", but not great. Eat beforehand because you get VERY few snacks that will not fill you up. The winery was HUGE and easy to see why they host weddings here- it was absolutely gorgeous and the landscaping was breath-taking. The views are outstanding and you won't be able to take enough pictures. You get a tour around the buildings, the room with the wine-making equipment, the wine barrels, and the garden- but you will not enter the vineyard. They gave a great little description of the history of the vineyard and the Villa (they have the official records to actually date the establishment), and I found it very interesting.

I stayed at four different hotels while traveling in Italy, and it's safe to say that Locanda Le…read morePiazze was the best hotel out of the bunch. There's a lot to say, so I'll try to break it up. Loction: Tuscany is overwhelming, but the hotel's location in Chianti is prime. You are only a 10-15 minute ride from Catellina which is a beautiful village with lots of restaurants and shops. You are also the same distance from several wineries. None are walkable, but because everything is so spread out that's probably tough to find anywhere. The hotel does have bikes, but just a warning that it's very tough to bike because of all the hills. Food & Drink: What you don't need to walk very far for is excellent food and drink. Breakfast is included in your stay and the spread is delicious. Lots of hot and cold options including eggs and bacon, meats and cheeses, fruits, pastries and oatmeal. There is also an incredible restaurant on the property (more on that in another review). It was so good that we ended up eating dinner there two out of three nights. Oh, and let's not forget the honors bar. The hotel has a few honors style bars set up throughout the property. Drawers and fridges full of every kind of wine, beer and liquor. Plus fixings to make cocktails and spritzes. All you'll need to do is write down how many you have and your room will be charged. The Grounds / Interiors: This is the best part about Locanda. The grounds are gorgeous. The rooms are impeccable. Every single inch of the space is thoughtfully designed, modern and perfect. Outside you'll find fresh plants and herbs, rolling hills and vineyards and the most gorgeous pool smack dab in the middle of it all. If we didn't have plans to hit wineries I honestly could have sat at that pool all day. Each day we got back to the hotel in the afternoon and spent hours relaxing and taking in the views. The rooms and all other interior space have the most whimsical decor -- I was a big fan of the dream catchers and artwork. Service: The service was on point the entire time. They really do their best to make you feel comfortable and like you are staying with family. At one point one of the groundskeepers was picking fresh figs and she even brought a bundle over to us straight from the tree. I can only dream about returning to this hotel again one day. If I ever find myself in Tuscany you can bet that this is where I'll stay.

The chef and restaurant provides 5 star meals, with flavors that were appreciated and enjoyed, immensely. We stayed in the "honeymoon" tower....it's work with the stairs, but worth every step. All in all, a beautiful and one of our favorite experiences. We will definitely be back! Thank you to all at Locanda!

Located in the Tuscany region, Borgo Divino is only about a 45 minute drive from Florence. We were…read morein Italy for two weeks and wanted to spend a day away from tours, crowds, and more walking. Borgo Divino is a winery with a few rooms and a restaurant. The room was very spacious and nice. Almost every room has a semi-private patio on the backside. Our room had a four-post canopy bed. The shower floor space in our room was huge but the slope in the roof made most of it unusable. The a/c worked very well as Italy was in the midst of a major heat wave. Like most Italian hotels, they do have washcloths. They only have hand towels and bath towels. TMI alert but after spending two weeks in Italy, I'm a fan of the bidet. We don't have them in the USA. The view from the infinity pool is beautiful. We spent most of our day in the pool relaxing and cooling off. Be careful under the Tuscan sun if you are fair complected. You can look as red as the Yelp banner if you're careless. The Borgo Divino has a restaurant on premises. We were there on a Thursday night and enjoyed the live music. He was a solo act that played an electronic keyboard with other background instruments. He sang pretty well. His songs varied between Italian and English. There is room for a few couples to slow dance. We did. We were the only ones that did, so we were a little in the spotlight. She deserves the spotlight after putting up with me for 30 years. I'm thankful she's still willing to dance with me after all these years. The food at the restaurant was very good. We started with a pasta dish and then both ordered a meat dish. The portions are large. We could have easily split a meat dish after enjoying the 1st course pasta. Between the two steaks, I liked the one with the peppercorn more than the one with the purplish wine sauce. They also offered other excursions in which we did not partake. Some of them are a wine tasting, a cooking class, truffles hunting/digging with a dog, and a tour of the winery. This is only a few that I can recall off the top of my head. When, not if, we come back, we will partake in some of them. My absolute biggest regret about coming here is that we did not stay more than one night. Breakfast is included and begins at 7:30 am. Unfortunately, we had to catch a train to Rome from Florence fairly early the next day and had to return our rent car before the train departed. We had to leave around 7:00 to get all of this accomplished so we missed breakfast. Driving Tip - If driving here from Florence, do not trust Google Maps to get you there. Use the WAZE app instead. It was more accurate. I had to use WAZE to eventually find it. Google maps had me cutting through someone's private vineyard (which was gated, so it was impossible). Bottom line - Beautiful views with spacious rooms. We should have stayed longer. We really want to come back and stay again to get the full experience. We highly recommend it.

Service: the staff is incredibly accommodating and friendly. They are truly locals and have great recommendations for restaurants, wineries, and activities to do in Toscana. Facility: we had room 1 which was basically an entire apartment equipped with a queen size bed, large spaced bathroom, a living room and kitchen. The decor is a bit medieval with large creaking wooden doors and a dark layout. There are many areas in this huge property: 1. the many many many rows of grapes lining the whole property on your left, right, front, back, etc. 2. There's an outdoor movie theater with bean bag chairs 3. The pool area (not heated) with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. A pool bar, a jacuzzi and a small gym with free weights. 4. A sauna 5. Farm animals: sheep, goats, roosters, ducks, rabbits, turkey, peacocks, goat, and alpacas! The alpacas, by the way, are brought over to their dining area every morning to join you while you eat, so you can pet and feed them! 6. Lastly, they have a wine shop at the base of the hill prior to entering the property where you can do a quick wine tasting. All in all, the facilities were impeccable. You can wake up early and go for a strenuous hike around the property, saying hi to all of the animals as you pass by. Then, you sit down for their buffet breakfast in their beautiful glass dining area where they cook the most delicious, soft, flavorful eggs I've ever had along with the assortment of breakfast pastries. Don't forget the alpacas! After, you can relax by the pool, jumping in when the sun gets a little too hot. Stroll through the vineyards, walk into town, or drive to neighboring wineries. Whatever you do, this hotel is the perfect place to situate yourself on your vacation in Toscana!
