Use with caution I rented a bike from TerraTours and unfortunately had a very concerning experience. When I returned to my apartment building with the bike, there was a man waiting by the entrance who followed me inside and waited on the stairwell. It appeared he was watching to see where the bike was stored. The bike was kept overnight in a locked space inside the apartment building. The following day it was stolen. I have now been asked to pay the full replacement cost of the bike, £2,600. I have asked TerraTours for further information including whether there have been previous thefts and whether they hold insurance or tracking on the bikes. So far this information has not been provided. I have been told the bikes are not insured against theft and are not tracked. I understand bike theft happens in Barcelona. I lived in the city for five years and owned road bikes so I am very aware of the risks and take appropriate precautions. In this case the theft followed someone clearly watching me enter the building and then breaking into a locked area. I have reported the incident to the police. I did a 30+ day rental of a Grail gravel bike for a lot of independent solo riding while our family was in Barcelona. Rental process for such a long duration was very easy, price was very affordable, and the staff were very helpful. I had to bring the bike in twice for a variety of maintenance work (normal stuff expected over the course of 1000km of gravel / single track riding) and they were extremely quick (overnight or same day) to get the work done and the bike returned to me. My Spanish is terrible but the staff all spoke great English and were technically skilled. I did not avail myself of any of their guided ride services - considered it, but my schedule was too complicated - but I did ride most of their road, MTB, and gravel GPS tracks as well as get some good practical advice (e.g. bikes on trains) from their blog. read more

emailed Terra tours from Italy on a limited schedule to see if someone could take me out for a few hours while in Barcelona. They went out of their way to find me a guide which was Xavi- this is where things get even better. Outfitted me on a canyon had helmet and shoes! Took me up about 2500 feet of climbing for a great 30 mile loop. Xavi was unbelievable, patient, spoke great English and not only did I have great views but also a history lesson. Great experience and assistance from the crew at Terra Bikes. I'm more intermediate level mountain biker, and I had some specific things in mind for my trip to Barcelona. They helped get me setup and configured with the right bike for the job and gave me some pointers on how to get where I wanted to go. Not only was the shop great, but their advice on seeking out locals on the trail was awesome. The Barcelona locals were VERY helpful and I even ended up with some adhoc riding with the locals in a few spots. I was super happy to see they stocked energy bars and such as well, as I had not found them at the local mini markets near my hotel. Tips for making sure you get the most awesome Barcelona biking experience: 1 - Book in advance! I reached out to the crew via email a couple weeks before, and it was really helpful in making sure everything was ready to go. 2 - Give them lots of info on the type of road or trails you are looking to ride on so you can make sure you get the best bike for the job. 3 - Book over the weekend if you can as Sunday is a busy day on the trails, but that makes it a great time to ride around and meet others. This was the second time I rented the bikes from them. I rented a Canyon's Ultimate Carbon Bikr. Everything was smooth from making a reservation - picking up the bike - returning it. Nora and the rest of the staff were friendly, accommodating and very helpful. During my week there, I recommended their place to 3 other folks who were looking to rent bikes. And this won't be the last time I will be renting bikes from them. My only wish is that I wished Canyon offered or the shop was equipped with a longer stem so that I fit better on the bike. This is the 2nd year I have rented a bike from them while in Barcelona for the holidays and both times I had a great experience. I sent in all my bike measurements ahead of time and they set the bike up exactly to the specifications. The Canyon Endurace was a really nice bike and super reliable. Two of us rented their bikes and had a great time. I researched and visited several other stores. Terra had higher quality bikes, a more helpful staff, with lots of options in terms of trails (ie, easy / hard / long / short). For a very reaonable fee, they provided a GPS which is helpful because I didn't see well marked trails for biking vs hiking. I was not concerned about the preauthorization on my card. It was clear that this was for their protection in case the bike was stolen. I encourage you to visit Terra. Ask for Nora! She is the best! PS. We stayed at the Hotel Arts. Suprisingly, they could not suggest a vendor for mountain bikes. They ended up googling it. As a result, I spent a few days visiting several of these stores. read more

The shop is in a great location, and the hybrid bike I rented was amazing! The bike worked perfectly and the mechanic tuned it right in front of me, I put 100 kilometers on it in one day and it was good on the pavement, cobblestones, and in the dirt. The guys working there were really friendly and the process of renting the bike was quick and easy. The only problem I had was with their online advertising. On their website it says "From 14 Euros", which I thought was a great price for a hybrid bike. When I arrived they said that it was 27 Euros! Almost double, and nothing else was included. A helmet was 3 Euros, a handlebar bag was 3 Euros, and a lock would cost me as well if the attendant hadn't forgotten to put it in the bag! So I rented a bike for 33 Euros when a motorcycle rental in Barcelona is 64 Euros. In my book "From" means you pay 14 Euros and the price goes up when you add in extras, but their pricing is "from" 27 and goes down the more days you rent the bike. And if you want it multiple days but can't keep it in your hotel so you store it in the shop you must pay 27 Euros a day. Shocking! Great bike, nice staff, but unethical advertising, shame on Terra Bike Tours! read more

I rented a Grand Canyon mountain bike for a day while on vacation in Barcelona. Nora responded quickly to my questions before I arrived and was super helpful and accommodating on the day I picked up the bike. The bike was in perfect working condition and Nora spent the time to give me detailed directions to the trail. I opted to rent the GPS anyway and that proved to be invaluable because, despite her good directions, there's too much to take in on a new trail to remember every turn. read more

High quality bikes that were properly tuned, great customer service and communication before I got to Spain. The worst experience I have ever had with a bike rental company. Horrific stress, and unhappiness caused by poor customer service, and equipment. Truly my worst bike rental experience of my life. I will never, ever, use this company again. I have used many other companies in Barcelona and never had a problem. Rented one of the Orbea bikes for 2 days while in Barcelona with a coworker. He rented the Onix and I got an Aqua. Both bikes were fitted to us while in the shop and we rode about 150 km over 2 days. I wanted a couple of road bike rides in the Barcelona hills while on a vacation in the area, and Terra Diversions made it VERY easy. The folks in the shop could not have been nicer or easier to deal with, and their English put my rudimentary Spanish to shame. They rented me a great bike, made sure it fit me well, gave me a couple of alternative routes based on my interest and stated riding ability, and (most importantly) provided a GPS device to minimize the risk that I'd get lost. It all worked out splendidly. It's a bit pricey, but I was on vacation and these rides were some of the high points of the Barcelona trip. If you ride from Barcelona, you may want to take their advice about catching the train to the suburbs before embarking on the ride -- the street traffic in Barcelona, while always respectful of riders, was a bit more than I needed in terms of excitement. read more
