This is my second time visiting Barcelona and my second time touring with Hi. This is Barcelona. My first time was back in May 2011. As soon as I decided to return to Barcelona, I knew I wanted to do some tours with HTIB. I did six tours, plus Jordan arranged private transfers for me from and to the airport. I explained that I enjoyed food, wine, history, and art. Sam, and later Margo, did a great job of suggesting tours and what days to take them. My flights had to be rearranged and Margo assured me that the transfer driver would be notified. The first tour was The Day You're Born Again with Teresa. Teresa was so much fun; we hit it off right away. I had expressed an interest in Barcelona's Jewish history and Teresa added some to the tour. In the last visit, I toured the Gothic Quarter and Gaudi's works, so I wanted to get to know the Born neighborhood. We covered a lot of streets, but it did not feel like it. When it came to the end of the tour, I was surprised because it did not feel like it had been that long. Teresa covered a lot history, but kept it interesting, while adding what the neighborhood is like today. We had a nice lunch at a little tapas bar. The tapas selected were delicious. I had a second tour with Teresa, Artisan Workshop. She took to me to a jeweler in the Raval neighborhood. What a treat. She was fantastic, explaining how she makes jewelry. Then we went over to a pottery designer. Finally, we had some tapas at a bar in the Santa Caterina market. I was sad that this was my last tour with Teresa, as I felt that I made a good friend. We exchanged emails, and I look forward to hearing about her travels. In addition, I had part two of a Tapas Like a Local tour I had from 2011. This time it was with Resi. She was lots of fun and knew a lot of bars and restaurants. We went to a bar that served only organic goods and wine. Very interesting. My favorite was the second bar because we had blood sausage. In keeping with the food theme, I went on the Mediterranean Gourmet tour with Buster. We had a great time moving through the Gothic and Born quarters stopping and sampling tapas. My favorite was an artisan cheese shop in the Gothic quarter. Also, I did the Family Run Winery Excursion with Jose. I was looking forward to this one the most as I love wine. The winery, Can Feixes, is amazing. One of the owners, Joan, took us through how they grow and make the wines. We traveled through the vineyard, ending up back at the house to sample the wines. I wanted to sample all the wines and I was not disappointed. The only disappointment is that I have not found their wines in my local wine shops. After the winery, we drove to a little masia in the country, Cal Frare. The food was excellent as was the charming restaurant. When I return to Barcelona, this tour is going to be on my to do list. Finally to round out by trip, I did the Bells and Whistle tour to Montserrat with Cristina. I did the Gothic Quarter tour with Cristina on my first visit, so I was excited to see her again. As we were driving to the mountain, Cristina told me the history of the suburb areas of Barcelona. I had visited Montserrat before, not with HTIB, and I wanted to know about the spirituality and history of the monastery. I did not ask any questions prior to leaving, which I probably should have since hiking at higher elevations does not always agree with me. The Rosary trail was beautiful, even if you are not religious. Seeing the cave where the black Madonna first appeared was a great treat. I survived the hike. I was treated to hearing the children sing and to visit with the Black Madonna. Afterwards, Cristina took me to a restaurant near some wineries, Cal Blay. It was excellent; they greeted us with glasses of Cava. During some correspondences with Jordan, I was teasing that this was second visit to Barcelona and I have almost done every tour with HTIB, and I had not met Jordan. Through Cristina and Teresa, Jordan arranged to take me to lunch. I was very excited to meet Jordan. We had a great time and discussed traveling, Barcelona, the different tours and getting to know each other. We also planned my next tours when I return to Barcelona. My intention for visiting Barcelona this time, other than seeing FC Barcelona play, was to intimately know Barcelona; for me that happens through learning and seeing the history, the food and wine, and meeting people. FIVE STARS ALL AROUND FOR THE COMPANY, THE GUIDES, AND THE TOURS!! First time to Barcelona. We learned of this high end tour company that caters to Americans traveling in Barcelona from a friend who uses them regularly. We are a married couple, in our 40s and travel once a year during the summer to different countries.  We contacted Hi This Is Barcelona and immediately received an email explaining the many different types of tours available. We planned to be in Barcelona 5 days and was interested in a tour each day.  The coordinator Margo was so great, she was very responsive and very detailed with clear explanations to our questions. Everything done by email. Easy! We saw the highlights of the city and many great areas in 5 days. All 5 guides were incredible...each had specialized knowledge for each tour, great personalities and they have so much information of the history and culture of the city. All highly educated and intelligent !! This was our itinerary that worked out perfectly....the order does not matter.  Day 1) A 4 hour walking tour of the Gothic quarter. The guide was so passionate about this area. She lives in the neighborhood.  Day 2) Modernist tour with prepaid entrances to Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. Both so amazing to see and hear about the history of the architecture of Barcelona with a guide that was so professional and knowledgable about Gaudis works.  Day 3) Barcelona by bike was amazing you are able to cover much of the city in 4 hours and not dangerous. The guide was so creative in showing us special areas by bike and tying in the history of the city. Good for day 1 or 2 of your trip.  Day 4) The excursion to the Dali museum is very special. Especially with a guide that knows so much about the artist, his life and his works. It's not your typical art museum. It's a must see if you have any interest in Dali. It was great to get out of the city for a half day and ride a high speed train (one hour) to a quaint small town. Day 5) Spent the evening with a wonderful guide going to 3 different trendy tapas restaurants in fun parts of the city. When visiting Barcelona, I would entrust your planning and touring to only one company: Hi. This is Barcelona! Not only was our day biking and touring the wonderful city of Barcelona with Teresa FANTASTIC, but booking with Margo and her team at Hi. This is Barcelona made it a pleasurable experience to boot! We only had a few days in the city, so through communications of what we wanted to see and do on a full day tour on both bikes and walking, they designed a perfect day. Through email communication with Margo with what we were looking to do, she designed the ideal day and allowed us to really see a lot of Barca in a short time. She was professional in every way, from making it easy to choose which tour, secure the deposit and then provided detailed info about our tour, meet up location and confirmation info. Teresa met us at a central location in front of a gorgeous government building, then we started our three hours of seeing Barca by Bike! We biked down small streets and alleyways we never would have found seeing unique neighborhoods with cool shops and people watching all day long. Our journey took us along the beach, past Barcelona Olympic housing/venues, through parks, past museums and all along the way Teresa took the time to explain the history, enlighten us with unique facts and stories and make our day so much fun. After a delicious lunch at a fabulous small local Tapas restaurant where we celebrated by husband's birthday (where only locals go:) we wandered through the Gothic quarter as well as "off the beaten track" Barcelona. We got to see how the locals live, eat , drink and enjoy their everyday life. I read many a good review of Hi! This is Barcelona and this company truly lived up to all of the recommendations. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience. We had the good fortune of working with the owner, Jordan Susselman. The man is all abut customer service! I called Jordan very last minute to see if he could customize a day trip for my husband and me. He crafted a Barcelona in a Day that combined a 1/2 day by car and 1/2 day of walking. His knowledge of the city is just unbelievable. He also took us to the most wonderful family owned tapas place for lunch- truly fantastico. We felt like Jordan really showed us the ins & outs of Barcelona plus, he's just a great guy and we felt lucky to have spent the day with him. We so enjoyed our day, we asked if he could arrange a 1/2 day vinery tour for the following day. Jordan arranged for us to meet with one of his great guides, Dan, who whisked us off for a great morning tour of Atla Alella vineyard. It's the closest cellar to Barcelona and its organic wines are in the menus of some of the best restaurants of the world. We literally got to see the entire operation, touring the fields & cellar and of course, enjoying the tasting room. Dan then arranged for lunch at a seaside restaurant so that we could experience seafood paella. The weather cooperated and we enjoyed great views up and down the coast. We could not have asked for a better two days. We have recommended Hi! This is Barcelona to several friends and co-workers and we can't wait to return and work with Jordan on future tours. Try Hi! My husband and I are fortunate to be able to travel quite frequently, but we don't usually book a tour with a tour guide. There is absolutely no way I could ever get my husband to sit on a large bus with 50 other people. However, when planning our trip to Barcelona, which was primarily a business trip, I realized we would have some site seeing time, but that it was limited and thus, I wanted to make the most of it. I found Hi. This is Barcelona on the internet and from the beginning received great communication from Margo regarding more specific information on the tours they provide. We booked 3 tours: a tapas tour, a winery tour, and the Barcelona in a day tour. All three tours were fantastic and our two different tour guides, Jose Antonio and Jordan, were both interesting, informative, a pleasure to be around, and professional. The company markets itself as being "atypical tourism" and they did not under-deliver. All three tours were extremely unique. The winery tour was especially a magical day where 6 of us (three couples) were given a private (and by private, I mean there was absolutely no other tourists there) tour of the property and a tasting by one of the three owners. The best thing about these tours is that they don't feel like tours. It feels like you're just hanging out with your very knowledgeable, history buff friend. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. The only downside is that these tours are more expensive than others, but to that I would respond by saying that in this case you truly do get what you pay for...a first class experience. read more

We had two wonderful tours with Hi! This is Barcelona. Our first was a four hour walking tour of the Gothic Quarter and Sagrada Familia with Sebas. In addition to being incredibly knowledgable about the history and architecture of Gaudí (and others), Sebas talked about his individual experience in his native Barcelona, an insight that was invaluable. He also tailored the tour specifically to us, giving us lots of options along the way as to level of detail, seeing this or seeing that and customizing the pace to us. He was über patient when I HAD to stop in Loewe (what? It's luxury leather!) and when we needed a pick-me-up espresso (and a beer for one of us!) to counteract the jet lag still plaguing us. So after such a great tour it would have been easy for HTIB to disappoint on the evening tapas tour--luckily for us they did NOT. Food tours can be difficult--everyone has a different idea of "good", one of us didn't eat fish--but Jose Antonio filled our tour with lots of interesting historical detail about Barcelona AND the food. There was a long discussion about Christopher Columbus and an equally long one about the then-upcoming Catalan election. We had three different stops and Jose Antonio described the house specialities at each (which never disappointed) and made recommendations as to wine. We highly recommend HTIB and Sebas and Jose Antonio in particular--you honestly cannot go wrong. It's a wonderful way to start a stay in a wonderful city! read more

Our family of three (11-year old son) did two tours with Hi. This is Barcelona. We did a full day tour, half by bike and half by foot, with Resi. It was fantastic. She was full of fun spirit and really charming. And she's clearly a history buff because she came prepared like a professor! She had a folder full of maps and other helpful visuals that she pulled out of her pack to help us understand things better. Cruising around by bike in the morning was great. Getting from place to place was so easy, and Barcelona has a lot of excellent bike lanes, so it felt really safe. Once we finished a big loop on the bike, we stopped for tapas at a wonderful spot in the Barceloneta neighborhood. After lunch we returned the bikes and finished our tour with a walk, ending the day at Sagrada Familia. Totally spectacular, and it was nice to get Resi's additional insight. Day 2, we signed up for the evening tapas tour in the Gothic District. This time, our guide was Teresa. Again, totally wonderful, in a different way. Teresa also shared history of the neighborhoods which we enjoyed. Walking through the Gothic Quarter at night was fantastic, and the two tapas places we went to were really good. We also really appreciated Teresa's willingness to tell stories about her family and some of the struggles they experienced during Franco times. A good soul. I have just returned from Barcelona and had an incredible time seeing the city with, Hi This is Barcelona. This was my first visit to Barcelona and I wanted to see the city with a private guide, I searched the web and found Hi This is Barcelona, it was my lucky day. I signed up for 2 tours, Tapas like a local and the full day tour, Barcelona in a day. Both exceeded my expectations. Jordan my tapas guide was wonderful, he was fun, full of knowledge and just a great guy to spend an evening with having drinks and enjoying tapas! We visited places that I would have never found on my own. I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable evening. The next day my guide was Zaida, she was the best. Her knowledge about Barcelona, her personality, her talent as a guide totally impressed me. She gave me interesting facts and history about Barcelona and the time flew by. A day I will always remember. Hi! This is Barcelona did an amazing job helping me and my 92-year old mother for a half-day in Barcelona. We booked a tour of the Gothic Quarter, artisan workshops and ended with tapas. Margo was so easy to work with and incredibly helpful and responsive as we were setting up this excursion. She really listened to our interests and hooked us up with the perfect guide, Teresa. In fact, Margo also pointed us in the direction of the hotel we ended up booking -- Hotel Condes -- which was terrific! We had such a wonderful time with Teresa, who was friendly, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable in our areas of interest including the ancient history, Jewish heritage in Barcelona, etc. She made it come alive for us in a way that would never have happened on our own or with a larger group. We also loved visiting the artisan workshops. So much talent in Barcelona and we loved getting a "behind the scenes" view that, again, would not have easily been available to us. My mom was so thrilled with the tour and we both felt like Teresa was part of our family by the time we had to say good bye. We both felt that the whole experience went well beyond our expectations. This is the first ever review I have ever writen and I'm only doing it because I truly believe my wife and I received the BEST tour service of our lives! We went on a two week vacation that took us from Amsterdam, Seville and finished in Barcelona. We ended up trying a bunch of different tours, some voice over, some guided in a group, and some private. The one day walking tour with Jordan, and the Sagrada Familia tour with Resi were both truly unbelievable experiences. Both guides made us feel like long lost friends with in the first five minutes. They were extremely knowledgeable, and really took the time to cater the tour to exactly what we wanted. They also went out of their way to book us dinner reservations and take us out to some Tapas that we never would have found on our own. Like I said we did a ton of tours in two weeks, and nothing even came close! The tours were so great we've decided we won't be visiting another city now without a tour, we just hope they can get someone remotely as caring and awesome as Jordan and Resi were. If you're coming to Barcelona and not sure what to do, do not, repeat do not, hesitate and sign up for a tour with these guys. I took a full day private tour with Jordan and he filled us in on every last historic detail of the city without being even a touch boring :)!! He took us to all the cool places, and because it is personalized, also listened and was sensitive to what you wanted to see and at what pace. My goal was to see Barcelona in a way that ensured I didnt miss a thing since I did not have much time to explore on my own. By the end of the day with Jordan, I didnt feel the need to see anything else - I felt like I had 'done' Barcelona and really enjoyed myself along the way. And b/c they gear toward your needs, I was very impressed by the flexibility if the unexpected arises, Jordan expertly accommodated. We requested a half day tour to see the highlights of Gaudi architecture, and our planner, Margo; guide, Ester, and Xavi our driver did not disappoint!! We were a group of 5 adults, ages 26-57, and all but 1 of us were 1st timers in this magical city. Margo created a custom tour based on our desire to see the best of Gaudi. We were unsure about doing the Park Guell as part of the tour, but Margo made a good case for it!! We are so thankful for that, because it was just incredible. Having Xavi and his luxury, comfortable van made it so easy to start the day at the Park Guell. Ester was so knowledgeable and gave us great insight into the origins of the place, as well as facts about Gaudi's brilliant engineering and unmatched imagination. From there we were driven in comfort to the Sagrada Familla. We toured some of the outside facades, and then went in for a breathtaking tour of the main areas, as well as the lower level. Again, Ester knew so much about this incredible site! A reservation was secured for us at a popular "no reservations" restaurant! I had the opportunity to spend the day with Jordan and experience Barcelona in the most amazing way i could have imagined! Not only did Jordan explain every inch of the city in terms of planning, layout and build - but also in architectural theory, history and design. I experienced the art and the culture as well as understood the current political climate - all because of Jordan's complete and unsurpassed knowledge of the city and the people who live there. Jordan was so friendly, relaxed and ready to accommodate any request. There is no question he cannot answer. He has an ability to find all relevant details and deliver them in an enlightened, interesting way. I learned SO much from the beginning of the tour right to the end. Equally as important i had SO MUCH FUN. We laughed and talked and shared stories and thoughts. The day and the experience was nothing short of inspirational. A colleague and I visited the beautiful city of Barcelona in October 2017 and were recommended this tour company which exceeded our lofty expectations! Jordan was our guide for the full day tour and his knowledge of the city and hidden gems was impressive. He's a westerner and speaks perfect English but also speaks fluent Spanish. By the end of the day, my colleague and I were full of culture, sangria and fantastic food. Awesome experience The Tapas tour was in the evening and our guide was Jose. Jose is a native of Spain and speaks great English. He was very well known in the spots we visited and had great insight on the current political climate in Spain. We had some of the best food I've ever tasted (looking at you Truffle Risotto) and the conversation was fluid. In closing, I highly recommend this tour group for a personal experience. Margo (coordinator) was easy to work with to set everything up and even helped with some last minute changes! It's the best tour I've had in my travels and I've seen a decent part of the world! read more

I have never before written a review for a company/restaurant/hotel, however my experience with Hi. This Is Barcelona and their staff has compelled me to figure out how to applaud them publicly. As an avid traveler, I have been on many lovely tours around the world. However, never have I been on one where my personal interests truly shaped every part of the tour, and the staff and tour guide's subsequent suggestions added more than I ever expected to the experience. Planning and coordination was hassle-free, and the tour itself answered my questions, invited many more, and best of all was filled with much laughter. I'm so happy to have found this company - I felt I already knew a good deal about Barcelona, but my eyes have been opened to new and different intricacies of its history and culture. And (at the risk of sounding cheesy), after sharing an experience like that it feels like I have friends to come back to for tours in this fabulous city that I plan on visiting for years and years to come. read more

We used Hi This is Barcelona for two private tours. We were a party of 7, 4 adults and 3 children aged 9, 11 and 12 years. We did a Barcelona city highlights tour for 5 hours with Resi. Resi was outstanding, punctual, warm and caring throughout the tour. She was so knowledgable and was able to engage the 3 children. It was my daughter's birthday so Resi organized for a hot chocolate and churros stop as well as a delicious lunch and surprise birthday dessert for my daughter. We also did a barrio gothic tour (half day) with Cristina which again was outstanding. Cristina knew exactly where to take us and was able to keep the children interested . She was also kind and warm and knowledgable and we finished off the tour with a beautiful tapas lunch with Cristina! My dealings with Margo were exceptional. She always responded quickly to my emails and communicated with me really well prior to the tours. We would definitely use Hi. This is Barcelona again! read more

3 tours from Jordan and they progressively became more epic! Jordan is energetic, knowledgable and knows everything, seriously, mind blown every 5 minutes. Eat everything and go everywhere with this guy to make the most of your time in Barcelona. Bike tour was the most fun I've ever had in my entire life and the best way to see the city in one day. Sagrada Familia tour was super informational and made the experience way more valuable. Walking tour was a great way to slow down and appreciate the historic details hidden everywhere. Jordan became our best friend and seriously the only way it could have been any better is if we miniaturized him and brought him everywhere we traveled. If you're sitting in front of your computer right now with a million tabs open trying to plan your trip, stop scrolling and book as many tours from Jordan as you have time for. My husband and I recently visited Barcelona for the first time. We wanted to see as much as we could in one day and the bike tour was the PERFECT way to do it! Our guide, Angel, met us at our hotel and gave us a brief overview of the history of the medieval city. He then took us around by bike for 5 hours as we captured views of the most impressive architecture in the city, stopping along the way at a local Pasteleria for a scrumptious pastry and coffee and later for tapas overlooking the Mediterranean sea! The tour ended on foot as we explored the tiny cobblestone streets along the Jewish Quarter. Angel left us with suggestions on where to visit while we were in Girona and Costa Brava which were invaluable!! I cannot say enough about how wonderful this experience was for us. We would highly recommend this company to anyone that is visiting the historical city of Barcelona! If we could give this tour 6 stars we would!!! read more

I had 1.5 hours and wanted to have a tour of Sagrada Familia. Lucky for me "Hi. This is Barcelona" had an opening and founder Jordan was available. We bypassed the long lines and headed right in. Jordan's knowledge was incredible. He pointed out so much that I would have missed, including those little things that really made the tour a joy. Just listening to Jordan I could imagine what it was like when Gaudi first took over the building of the church as a young man, and what a genius he was. And it was inspiring to see that Gaudi's vision is still being realized. The personalized service from Jordan was fantastic from meeting me where I was staying (walking distance from the church) to arranging the car service to the airport after our tour was over and walking me to the car.
