Odd that upon reserving a table ahead of time we were asked if we were celebrating anything (we were, our one-year), but then it wasn't acknowledged during greeting or throughout. I didn't want to be that person who said something, because there was no need to expect any acknowledgement and we were thoroughly enjoying our time being together. They had run out of the ribeye, but the manager overheard the server saying something and confirmed with us. Despite a longer wait, we were more than happy to take things slow as they did restore the availability. Had the manager not overheard, we would have had to move on to another choice. Food: highly recommend both choices highlighted in my review's pictures: Choriqueso Birria & the Ribeye and Mole. Meat for both dishes were beautifully prepared with distinct flavors and incredibly tender. The pairings of garnish were perfect - adding a pop here and there and some texture. Only wish that the bone marrow was inspected before serving (there was literally only one small spoonful of marrow, 95% bone). I thought the bone was a garnish. Both dishes were plenty food for two! We didn't plan on ordering drinks, as we were heading to Las Ramblas cocktail bar after, but because of the wait we decided to have a glass each. Very affordable glasses and bottles! I arrived here during their lunch service with the coffee bar open. It was a more casual vibe compared to their dinner service but it still had a cozy and classy atmosphere. I love the natural lighting and the big windows (coincidentally the Charro day celebrations were going on outside so we got a glimpse of a bunch of people part of the parade!). We weren't too hungry so we shared the Aguachile Verde Appetizer. There were plenty of delicious ahi tuna chunks and avocado pieces - much bigger plate than I expected! What a wonderful find in Brownsville! Elevated Mexican food right adjacent to the border. The decor screams urban upscale. The ambiance quiet and Sophisticated with a hint of casual. Lighting is subdued but not dark giving a sense of privacy in a wide open dining room. The food is stellar. The pork belly tacos served on homemade blue corn tortillas, curried potatoes swimming in a tasty curry and charred roasted carrots striped with a pungent cream. New chef Sara creating new dishes. I had to come in and experience her new dishe ribeye aqua chile. This experienced chef knows her culinary skills. The presentation was amazing. The flavors and color all matched the dish and I was able to finish the whole thing without that overstuffed feeling when most chefs over salt. It was a very satisfying experience recommend for 2 people or a big hungry man. I can't wait for her other creations. Terras Urbana is a very nice date spot for a weekend night. The Sangre Azteca drink was very delicious and the touch of spice with the jalapeño makes it perfect. If you love mezcal you will love this drink. My table of four shared the Oaxacan Fries and the Costillas de Elote. They were both delicious but my favorite were by far the elotes which were perfectly seasoned! Then I had the Chipotle Alfredo which had huge pieces of very tasty chicken and the chipotle alfredo was the perfect spicy flavorful sauce for the dish. The pasta was just right! My mom had the Outside Skirt tacos and while she loved the tortilla she said her meat wasn't seasoned. My friend also got the same dish and said the same. My nephew got the double smash burger and he enjoyed it! We ended the night with the Mom's OG Pan de Elote and while I wanted to love it the consensus at the table was that it was a tad on the sweet side. The ice cream with it was delicious! This place came highly recommended to us. For appetizers, the tuna aguachile was delicious and refreshing, and the panchos were tasty. The burrata with bone marrow was way too fatty-desperately needed acid. Pick one, either creamy cheese or buttery marrow, both was too much. For mains, I was disappointed. Our group got the seafood pasta special (nothing special), the carnitas tacos (more like large chunks of fried pork belly with nice fruit salsa but again, needed more acid), the ribeye with more bone marrow (solid steak, but why marrow again?) and lastly, and most unfortunately, the lamb flautas (caused food poisoning!!). For dessert, we shared the burnt basque cheesecake. It was good with the pineapple on top, but I missed the contrasting textures a good basque cheesecake is supposed to have; smooth and soft in the center with a more firm exterior. The food was plated beautifully and the service was very attentive, I just wish some of the dishes were more well thought out and better balanced. My wife and I have decided to try out restaurants in the area and Terras Urban was on the menu for the night. First time for myself and I had heard mixed reviews. I will say that overall I really enjoyed the food. We started with cocktails and both were great. My wife tried the sabor fresa and enjoyed the strawberry freshness. I tried the Sangre De Azteca and enjoyed the unique flavors with a bit of heat. We had the shrimp molcajete as a starter and it was really good. Very different from anything I usually order but definitely worth a try. It has great flavor and just a little heat. My wife had the Salmon for her main course and it was well prepared on a bed of rice that had a great texture and a sweet sauce for excellent flavor. I had the outside skirt tacos. They came loaded with their own salsa that included roasted corn. They were very tasty but next time I will have to try something more adventurous. Definitely a great choice if you want to play it safe. We skipped dessert. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was that the place was huge and not very crowded but the hostess was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated. We were seated off to the second room close to the restroom which was a little disappointing but nothing to get upset about. Waiter was fine. Not out of the way great but perfectly attentive. Overall great experience I just wish it was more packed. Kinda made me think the restaurant might not make it much longer with newer choices opening up and that would be a shame. read more

Super good. I've been here for brunch on Sunday and lunch on a Saturday. I love the food, both lunch and Brunch were amazing. My favorite would have to be the pork carnitas. They are the best carnitas I've tasted in Brownsville. For brunch I recommend the chilaquiles de ribeye, pork carnitas, barbacoa and cochinita pibil. The chicken and waffles were also very good, they have a little Korean sweet and spicy honey syrup which was different but good. The avocado toast was the only brunch plate that was bleh. I wouldn't order that again. For lunch I loved the carnitas taco ( enough to make 2 tacos, just ask for extra tortilla). The carnitas de papa were also very good and the aguachile. I didn't personally like the fries cauliflower, it was a little flavorless, so I wouldn't order that again. Love the place, love the drinks, love the food and love the ambiance. read more

Parking is always a bit of a challenge downtown but it seems to be a lot better during COVID. I went on a Sunday (their only day open for brunch) about 45 minutes after they opened and there were only two people eating together. I was worried it would be packed but it was empty. There was three of us in our group. We ordered barbacoa and pancakes to start then chilaquiles to bring out a little after. It took foreverrrrrrrr. We waited almost an hour and a half for the food to come out, maybe longer, and then waited another 15-20 min after that for the chilaquiles. Insane!! Everything was delicious but I could not figure out why they took over an hour. We ended up getting there close to opening and leaving close to their closing time. I'm not sure if I will return. Love the vibe, the decor, and all (can't speak to the food since I did not have any - but does look good). I ordered an old fashioned, which on the menu is $10. I asked for bourbon, and asked if they had Makers Mark which they did not. I asked if they had Knob Creek and the bartender said yes. So Knob Creek old fashioned it was. The drink was well presented and tasted like a good old fashioned, thumbs up for Terra! Then I got the bill...Knob Creek 18 ($38) and old fashioned ($3). A $41 drink. An old fashioned! Bourbon, some bitters, some simple syrup, an orange peel and a cherry. $41. In Brownsville. $41. I never ordered Knob Creek 18. I just wanted Knob Creek. I never would order an expensive bourbon only to add bitters and simple syrup. In fact I never order expensive bourbon. I often have Knob Creek old fashioned and at best, in NYC, it cost $15-20. I have never paid $41 for a drink, and I probably do not know anyone who has. I have had Knob Creek for years, and it is not top shelf liquor. It's outrageous and makes me feel like an idiot for going to Terra's. How could I ever recommend a place that is so deceptive and does not respect the customer. Had I been told it was $41 I would have said just give me the well bourbon. I do not drink expensive liquor mixed with anything, it just doesn't make sense. I expected better from Terra's.
